Just you and the music
by jennygott
I was completely done with the club scene since I was 19 (went clubbing A LOT) until I found Club LOVE! I'm in Brooklyn most of the time, but LOVE is the ONLY place in Manhattan I know will be a guaranteed shhweet time. Fridays are regularly Dub/Grime and saturdays are mostly house/techno. Like a lot of the other reviews have said, LOVE holds no b.s. People come for music and to shred that dance floor. I've NEVER seen a crowd like I've seen @ LOVE.
The CONS talked about are true. Sometimes the cover is too much for a party that's empty. It can be dark. A new security team input a new coat check policy, etc and used to be really unfriendly. After awhile, they relaxed. But in comparison with a lot of clubs in Manhattan, I'd take LOVE any day.
- Pros: World reknown DJs, sound system, atmosphere, open late, lounge area
- Cons: people who trash talk this place
The Real Deal
by BeKool
This is what clubs are supposed to be: Nothin' but fun vibe, reasonable drink prices, no attitude, staff as cool as the crowd, and the best sound system I've heard in NYC. It's worth checking their calendar online(musicislove dot net---doesn't that address say it all?!?) to see what kind of party they're having that night. It's an eclectic mix of DJ's: from lesser knows right up to all stars like Q-Tip and Sasha (yes, of Sasha & Digweed fame). These guys play here because the vibe to the place is all about keeping it real, not the sell-out stuff you see at these rip off clubs that now dominate the scene. No pressure to buy expensive bottles, just to have a good time. Great dance floor with another cool black light room, and then a chill room regulars call the "Fraggle-Rock room". Like any real club, it tends to get really going later on. Every time we've been, we've had fun. Highly recommended indeed.
- Pros: Cool vibe, best sound system in NY, no attitude, great DJ's
Don't Bother

Maybe I was there on an "off" night, but I dragged a bunch of my friends here on a Friday night based on the good reviews I read. The review that says no velvet rope, hah...well there was NO ONE on the line, but we still had to be let inside the (not velvet, more like seat belt material) rope. The bouncer says "The cover is $15, too bad you didn't come 5 minutes earlier cause it was $5" (and laughs). There was some wierdo guy standing out front saying how great the place is and thet the music is "bumpin". So we decide to go down the stairs to have a look before we paid the cover. The hallway down is spray painted with strategically placed flourescent and glow-in-the-dark grafiti, which might impress a Back Street Boy or Cyndi Lauper wannabe. We peer inside, despite the dirty look from the woman trying to collect the cash, and see 4 people and a smoke machine. They looked excited that someone or anyone was coming in, but we took one look and walked out laughing.
- Pros: its dark inside
- Cons: everything else I saw
Call Before You Go
by jvmoncrief
I was looking forward to going to Love since I had read so many great reviews and had been looking for a fun place to dance that played house music. Unfortunately the night I chose to go (a Friday night in November) they decided to have a Wizard of Oz/Pink Floyd night, which was needless to say pretty lame and incredibly disappointing. We waited it out, despite the boredom, but the music that came on afterwards was hardly an improvement (trance?) so we left. As someone else mentioned, very aggressive coat check policy. The worst part was that we had to pay a cover for such a disappointing time.
- Pros: Interesting lighting
- Cons: A bit out of the way
the ONLY place i go to in nyc
by swingers525
This place is great..it has a trippy feel inside and its got a real chill crowd...everyone is just having fun and doin their own thing.dance if u want, drink if u want, sit in a plushy cave and lay in the dark with friends if u want..or even by urself! drink avg nyc prices but def worth the money. Only con is that if u leave an item or anything around they scoop it up right away and bring it to coat check. happened to me many of times! ANd they even try to charge u another dollar! Oh well..its ny! still great place.
- Pros: atmosphere, location, beats, crowd
- Cons: swiping clothing or bags left on the sides

In Short
Tucked between tattoo parlors and thrift stores, this well-hidden and subterranean club-cum-lounge pumps out inventive house mixes way past the closing times of other clubs. Anything--and anyone--goes; each night is wildly eclectic yet welcoming, with a funky mix of fun-lovers sliding across the black light dance floor before landing on velvet magenta lounges. With this club's thumping sound system, it's no wonder the party often continues after-hours.
Just a Great Place...Period
by micrage
This place has got superior sound and loads of visual treats. A super pleasant staff brings it all together. Just go there! Ok...so I'm not 25 anymore...shoot me. This place is what it is all about club-wise. I still love to kick it and have left 25 behind years ago.
Also, from a DJs point of view, it is a great place to play!
- Pros: The vibe, the FX, the sound system
- Cons: None

My Favorite Bar in New York City

The decor at Love is fantastic whimsical, comfortable and ethereal. It's easy to relax in this subterranean psychedelic cubby. Its equipped with a quiet waterfall, rocky walls and uber friendly staff that mingle with patrons to ensure they are having a good time. The most notable feature of this little cave club is the fuzzy inviting purple recreation of Dr. Seuss Whoville. So you can grab a drink and get cozy up in your Whohabitat with friends, dance in their spacious back room or work on an art project in the back room. The club host several different parties so you never know what kind of crowd youll run into on any given night unless youre on the Love guest list. Its definitely a place youll want to come back to.
- Pros: Most everything, Decor, Staff
- Cons: Sometimes the music, the drinks can be pricey
