AVOID
by DermotHall
I urge you to avoid this place, the staff are exceptionally rude. I've traveled the world and have never been treated worse than I was here. AVOID.
- Pros: none
- Cons: rude staff
Not all there
by bianco_della_neve
I went with a bunch of my friends, for an early dinner- not only did they add dishes we never ordered to our bill, but they had the gall to call us no shows thru the reservation service we used to eat there! The lobster salad was WAY too sour, and the braised beef was bland. The atmosphere is nice and loungey, but the service is APALLING. I will NEVER go back there after they way we were treated.
- Pros: loungey
- Cons: very disorganized, so so food
Great Drinks
by xxxtruthxxx
Drinks were great, cool crowd, the club was amazing. Food was okay, but the staff was really great.
- Pros: Cool Space, fun atmosphere, great club
- Cons: Lobby-esque
RUDE staff and Obnoxious music!
by JaniceBBB
This is an establishment the near by locals hate. We have asked them to turn down there music or shut their door for several months and they refuse. They lie they will and don't follow they law. Bouncing bass off our windows till 4AM on week days and weekends. I go to work sluggish and bothered. If you want to support the community do NOT go there. They are all stuffy and rude. There are many other better place to hang in the LES anyhow.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Total Disrespect
Horrible drinks and RUDE staff
by CathyBarb
The drinks taste like water and the staff if uptight and non-caring. One of the worst bars I've been in years in NYC.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Everything
A bit overrated
by scoottncl
An elegant dining experience, yes.
But it's also somewhat of a dull experience. There's just nothing that spectacular about this restaurant to keep me coming back. Don't get me wrong-the food was good as well as the service, but the vibe just wasn't there.
I think this place is good but not AMAZING. A bit overrated in my opinion.
- Pros: food'service
Amazing Brunch!
by kateshade1
Went there recently with two friends and we all loved it! They do an excellent brunch and it's very inexpensive (about 20 dollars each including a choice of 2 mimosas or bloody marys). Both of the 3-egg omelets were unbelievable, the service was good, the coffee was excellent and overall the music and decor made for a note-worthy brunch. Highly Recommended!
go during the week
by leeza
i cant comment on the wekend experience...i understand the place turns into a club on the weekends. As far as the restaurant goes, during the week, i LOVE it!! Fabulous, modern decor, with a high glass ceiling and ceiling height windows overlooking the lower east side's typical tenament buildings. i like that juxtaposition. They have large, comfortable banquettes, and it's one of those rooms where you can actually converse without screaming over loud music, yet you can hear the good music that they play. (my current pet peeve is monsterously loud, overly packed restaurants, which are aplenty these days) The service is warm and friendly, and the food is excellent! The goat cheese fondue with truffle roasted mushrooms is SUBLIME. Roasted lobster and corn chowder with jalapeno biscuit was another favorite. They have plates you can share with the table- like a really light fluffy crispy gnocci with balsamic glazed figs. YUM!!! oh, the fried artichoke salad with parmesan is EXCELLENT. They recently got a new chef, and he's doing a fantastic job, I have taken different friends there many times, and everyone has just loved it. i see some people's reviews think that it's expensive. As far as the quality of food, service and atmosphere is concerened, it's well worth it. You can also select a starter and a sharing dish, and it realy isnt expensive at all. My sister, who is New York phobic came to visit a few months ago, and now she's ASKING me if she can come visit again, so we can go back to THOR! I cant wait!!
- Pros: great food, service, atmosphere, and it's QUIET (during the week)
- Cons: i understand the weekends are very crowded and clubby- which obviously is not a con for many people!
so beat on any night
by allmyopinionsinoneplace
been there done that. but this past weekend was special. my 3 friends, all dudes, all italian and decent looking yet painfully bridge and tunnel breezed in at 2 AM on a friday night. they were half block ahead of me. i got to the door with our 2 other friends...2 out of towner asians. I walked in front and it was clear just two dudes with me...the not-so-cute but-at-least-she-doesnt-eat so-skinny-enough-to-look-okay shmostess stops me and says "sorry but bottle service and guestlist only tonight" .. i gave the usual but my frineds are inside and we get a bottle if have to but dont all drink the same thing and bla bla bla... so the little 90 pound dweeb comes up and whispers in her ear. She goes to tippy toes and looks past me, another decent looking italian fellow, at the two young asian gentlemen standing in tow. She leans in and says sorry, but its now guestlist only.
wow.
judge for yourselves.
No one should give them a penny
by jbrizzi0202
First they offered bottle service to all the LI/NJ/CT/Upper East Side tools who couldn't get into Libation on Friday and Saturday nights. That was annoying.
Then, they hired a complete scumbag door guy (90 pounds of undeserved ego and hair product) to aggravate matters further by slithering up and down the street all night. Then, they opened up their floor to ceiling windows and blasted a/c onto the sidewalk on a 98 degree day. So much that it was noticeable from ACROSS THE STREET. That should be considered a criminal offense.
Anyone who gives these thoughtless, out-of-touch vultures a dime should consider themselves responsible for both the degradation of the Lower East Side, and apparently now the entire world.
- Pros: Hopefully the recession will send them packing
- Cons: Everything
