We are coming back for everyone's birthday!!!

by bkwrm619 at Citysearch

I booked a room for 10 people for my best friend's bachelorette party. When we got there, there was still another group there and we had to wait 10 minutes past our reservation time. But they gave us the extra 10 minutes at the end so there were no problems. We had a huge room with lots of room to dance and move around. We ordered chinese food from outside and they delivered straight to our room. The room was very clean. The song list was amazing...they had everything we wanted. We all agreed that we will all come back to Duet 35 for all of our birthday parties! What a great place and great experience!

  • Pros: HUGE rooms, great service, can bring in outside food

Fun Times

by NoemiRockz at Citysearch

I had a birthday party here. We had our own private room and you can bring food/snacks, so thats pretty awesome. And there a telephone in the room that puts you thru directly to the bar... how awesome is that!? It gets a little stuffy in the room sometimes if you have a crazy crowd. So ask them to keep the air on.

  • Pros: Private Rooms
  • Cons: 8 bucks per hour per person... YIKES!

A perfect venue

by morganness at Citysearch

An awesome place - the room was the perfect size for the 15 of us, the song selection is amazing, and drinks are reasonably priced. I will definitely come here again!

  • Pros: Accommodated our late reservation; great song selection; reasonably priced

Fun times!

Duet 35 is great. After another establishment screwed up my reservation just days before the event (my sister's bachelorette party) Duet 35 was able to accomodate us easily. The room was great, song selection was great, nice staff, etc. We were having such a great time they were able to extend our room after moving some things around! I would definitely go here again.

  • Pros: Nice, comfortable rooms, nice staff
  • Cons: they let my friend carry a tray of drinks into the room and she dropped it:( Make them carry the drinks so if something spills, it's their fault.

Always reserve beforehand

by monkeyboo at Citysearch

Rule #1: Always make a reservation or you'll never get a room - even during daytime hours. In my experience, the daytime hours are especially busy because of the marathon price. Duet also has an amazing song selection and are quick to update their Japanese and English songs, particularly the Japanese. So if you're a J-music fan like myself, you won't be disappointed with Duet. Avoid ordering the food, however. Most of them are straight out-of-the-package junk food. If you want Pocky, buy it yourself before coming. Duet DOES allow outside food to be brought in. We've had picnics thanks to this policy! =D I do recommend the takoyaki, though - it's the only thing on the menu we'd order. Don't have too high expectations for the equipment, though. They're not the best you can find in the city.

  • Cons: Equipment, Food

Excellent for groups, vast song selection, reasonably priced - a great time!!

We had a group of about 15 family members in town over the holidays & ended up going here after our Christmas Day lunch. First off, as far a group activities in NYC on Christmas Day go, this was the most reasonably priced & attractive activity we could find (bowling & skating were soo $$$!). We had a room reservation at Karaoke Duet & they called us earlier in the day to let us know there would be a half hour delay & that they'd give us our first round of drinks free for any inconvenience - I thought that was very courteous. Once we were there, we were thrilled w/ our room - it had 2 mikes, tambourines, a disco ball & was comfortable. But mostly, they had such an impressively wide selection of songs, it was wonderful! The drinks were reasonably priced, the staff was nice, & it was a hoot to walk the halls & hear/see everyone else in their private rooms having an outstanding time. Everyone in our group had a BLAST, the smiles lasted for days!

  • Pros: Prices, song selection, private rooms

Amazing song selection!

by NYgirlfromcali at Citysearch

I went here for my last birthday and had a blast!!!! They have all the best song selections, the rooms were clean and new. They had a bar available so that all of my guests could get drinks at their leisure. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Even when we went over our room reservation time, they let us stay an extra hour!

I had about 15 people come and everyone was able to enjoy themselves and sing their song choices. The drink prices and hourly rate were very good.

I highly recommend this for parties and/or just a fun night out any day of the week.

Fantastic song selection.

by djmorator at Citysearch

I've been coming here a long time and have always been impressed. The key is the song selection; it has the largest, broadest selection of English-language music of any place I have ever been in and songs are updated every month. What other karaoke place has Death Cab for Cutie? I don't sing other-language songs but often go with friends who sing in Japanese and Korean, and the selection seems quite vast as well. As people have said, the bar food is nothing special. You definitely need to make reservations EARLY if you want to sing before midnight on Friday or Saturday nights.

  • Pros: vast song selection, reasonable drinks

Nice, clean, and fun

by dmurphy8 at Citysearch

I went to Karaoke Duet with a few of my friends the other night and I was impressed. First of all, the prices were one of the cheapest I've ever seen. The service was good as well, as me and my friends were accomodated quickly to the first available room. Everything in this karaoke bar seemed new. I noticed how clean the environment was when I first entered Duet. The furniture seemed fresh and clean which made everything more comfortable. Aside from everything I just mentioned, the one thing that separates Karaoke Duet from the rest of the karoake bars is their song selection. They have the most up to date songs a karaoke bar will ever have. Not only is it up to date, but the song selection is vast. The equipment also seems new enough to support all your singing needs. One of the other perks about Duet is their selection of alcohol. I've tried some Japanese beer and liqour there for the first time and I loved it. They have all the usual selections you'd find in a bar plus a few other international drinks you might have a hard time finding anywhere else.Their alcohol is modestly priced for city prices. All in all I recommend this place for any Karaoke lover who's looking for a fun time.

  • Pros: Clean, Cheap, FUN
  • Cons: food can be pricey
