Six months ago, i bought one of their "resolution packages." as a treat for myself. Six months later i have been going once a month for my detox and a facial. It's not inexpensive, but its average-priced for this crazy town. Also, they have good deals and packages every so often. I live downtown, and used to frequent a certain place, and when my esthetician disappeared, i left too. And then I found Tracy (at Yin), and have been commuting all the way up there ever since.

Pros: Comfortable, Philosophy, products, Service

My mom and I went here for spa week and did the body treatment and facial. We both had a really great experience...Mom mom came to visit from LA and she's a big spa queen, and said that her therapist was above par with many of the places she's been out west.

Pros: Great staff, good tea and adorable space

So I started out completely optimistic. I have been getting facials since I was 14, and since I have only been in New York 4 years, I thought Spa Week was a perfect opportunity to try out some new Spa's. I signed up my roommate and I to get a treatment at the same time. I received a phone call to confirm the night before, so I thought we were off to a great start. Until I arrived there and they said that there was no reservation for my roommate. After waiting 45 min. to start, the treatment left much to be desired. I (as well as my roommate) were completely insulted in hopes that we would up our $50 spa week package. I was told that one (minor) frown line was due to years of damage and loss of collagen. Right...I am 25 and worked for Lancome, I know the difference between skin damaged and up selling (I am a former beauty queen for goodness sake)! She would not massage my face, thought a good massage was picking up my feet a dropping them, and left me in a steaming hot bed that left me feeling like a slab of bacon for 25 min. I am a pretty hard customer to disappoint, but I prefer to be treated like possible valued customer rather than idiot. The Point of Spa Week to test out different options, at a reasonable cost and when you find a fit then feel free to pamper at all costs. But please take my words as a warning and stay far, far away from Yin Beauty and Arts.

Pros: That I was able to try during Spa Week

Cons: Everything else

Sunday Appointment

We are so sorry you had such a disappointing experience with us during spa week. This day (Sunday) we had a dreadful scheduling error which lead to overbooking. This is fully our responsibility and we are sincerely sorry for your trouble. As for your experience and the facial you received, all of our therapists are highly trained and have many years of experience in the skin care industry. We have full confindence in their assements of skin conditions and the treatment of such. While i do not doubt your knowledge of skin care, the point of getting a facial is to treat the skin, correct the condition and help the client to maintain a proper regime to follow so that they will see the best results. Its important to communicate with your therapist if you are unhappy with a service so that they may take the necessary steps to ensure that you leave happy, relaxed and feeling good about the service you received. We are very sorry and hope we will be able to make it up in the future

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I went to Yin for various skin and facial treatments. The environment was very relaxing and the staff was extremely professional. The entire experience was very positive and I would recommend Yin to everyone!

I’ve been going to the Yin Beauty and Arts spa receiving treatments from acupuncturist Dr. Jai for a lower leg problem. I had a very excruciating pain on my l leg over years. I couldn't even walk 10 minutes without pain. Having to Stand for just few minutes would aggravate it. I consider myself of having a high tolerance for pain, but this was just too much, something was defiantly wrong. I went to my primary physician and she prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication, then referred me to an orthopedist and to a physical therapist but nothing was sufficient to rid my leg pain. The orthopedist's only suggestion was to keep exercising, then to call back if the pain persisted. The pain was the factor that kept me from exercising, so I found his suggestion somewhat senseless. I wanted an alternative to taking pills. I appreciated all their efforts, but it just seemed as if I wasn't receiving the right treatment and my leg was not getting any better. After consulting with Dr. Jia, I began to see her once a week. This is the first time I had ever seen anyone for acupuncture and Jia really made me feel comfortable. She's very attentive, sympathetic, knowledgeable, and professional. I felt very confident with her treatment and today my leg feels great. I realized the other night that I had not thought about my pain all day long. It was actually gone. It feels so good to be able to walks again…. thank you, . You've got that amazing, healing touch.

I tried Yin's Fall Package and I am in love!!! I have to travel for my job, and I go to spas all over the country and the world, and my experience here was exceptional. My lower back is always tense, and has caused me many problems throughout the years. My therapist did some energy realease treatment all along my spine using a special "balm." Unlike deep tissue and other massage sessions I have had in the past, this really helped. I felt like she used the perfect amount of pressure and today, i feel great!!! My facial was equally as impressive. She used a vibrating machine with some sort of special gel, and made the dark circles around my eyes just disappear. My skin looks awesome, and my facialist gave me some great tips on home care and up keep that will be easy for me to follow while traveling. In all, I have to highly recommend Yin. The staff is great, and so knowledgeable and i left there not only feeling like it was worth my money, but that i was truly cared for, which is hard to find in this city. For someone who goes to spas on a regular basis, Yin was not just a relaxing day at the spa, it truly was a healing experience for me. I definately will be back very soon!!!

Pros: Great Staff,

Ladies: If you want to relax and have a stress free day and and enjoy yourself, then I suggest you stay home before you go to the spa. During Spa Week, I went for the slimming treatment, the owner was very, very pushy and did not want to honor the package and as it sounded like a good deal, I decided to do it anyways. She put some oil on certain parts of my body and it felt like it was burning, then she wrapped me on plastic and a heated sheet, I felt like my body was on fire and I kept telling her but she just walked away. My body really felt on fire, I broke out in hives and kept telling the lady but she was too busy tring to sell the tea which I refused... I broke out in hives all over my body that same day and called to let her know that I want it my money back, they were extrmely rude and pretended not understand or speak english and hang up on me. I won't recomend this spa to my worst enemy.

Pros: Nothing Good to say

Cons: Spa from Hell

small space, ok spa but the whole time from the second i stepped out, facialist tried to make me upgrade to a more expensive facial, add ons, etc. i clearly said right away that i am not interested and i just want the facial i made an appt for but the entire time, they were convincing me to upgrade and of course buy products at the end. not relaxing at all. i am a frequent spa goer and i usually get a shoulder, head massage with the facial ( especially when you have the mask on) here i didnt get anything and was just left in the room for 20 minutes - no relaxing music or aromatherapy - i was just hearing loud conversations from workers and customers. the only massage i got was a one minute pat on the back when i was done.

Pros: ok prices

Cons: did not see showers or steam/sauna, not many amenities, small

Testing the waters on accupuncture, I decided to give this place a go. Accupuncturist took a lot of time to find out my needs and expectations and sent a lot of time putting me at ease about the situation. After one session (which I'm told is not enough to see a difference) I felt better, slightly. Still unsure on the accupuncture but, the place itself is serene and calming wtih a great staff on board. Decor is modernly Asian with a serene, naturistic element to it. Definitely would try other services in the future.
