Superior Services!

by celest3

I just had a great experience at Yin Beauty & Arts Spa that I felt obligated to share . I had booked a microdermabrasion treatment to clear up my skin just before my 20th marriage anniversary. And boy! What a fantastic deal I got. It?s much much cheaper than what you get at a doctor?s office! It was less that half the price!!!! And they did an excellent job too. My therapist was very good and knowledgeable. She suggested me to get a hydrating facial and it made so much sense. I got many compliments at my party.

  • Pros: great value and great services, really helpful beauty tips for inside out

Can't take the forceful sales pitch!!!!!!!!!

by ca5545

WARNING: You will be getting a very hard & insistent sales pitch to buy their skin products after treatment. I understand this is business & they're trying to make the money but they REALLY overdo it. I went to this spa for package facial/massage long time ago & treatment was actually really wonderful. So I'm thinking while I'm on the table, wow, I think I'll come back here. Until, I had to pay, therapist insisted that I buy their skin care product & make another appoint for more expensive facial now. I was stupid enough to buy the product because you pay at one & only table. You're face to face not with the cashier but with the therapist that just gave you a treatment. I felt so uncomfortable & ended up buying the product just to get away. I said I'll never come back then. But I ended up getting another coupon in e-mail, this time was for massage. So I thought, what could they sell after massage. I thought I was safe from hard sell. Well, at end of "satisfactory" massage treatment, therapist says my face needs facial, while I'm still on the table trying to relax, tells me they have a promotion right now on price of facial. I said ok, maybe in the future, she says that I need to book this today! to honor this price. For god sake, I just had the massage, did I ask her about facial? I come to spa to relax and not to get sold> I don't understand this spa. So now I go to pay this therapist, who shows me serum for my face (I'm sure it's expensive, I dare not & didn't want to ask the price). Tells me I need to buy this, because I'll get wrinkles. I came back for massage only because I thought I was safe from them trying to sell me stuff. I thought what could they try to sell for massage? As I walked out, I vowed I'm never coming back ever for any treatment. You're made to feel guilty if you don't buy anything. I never saw a spa where they tell you that you have to book a facial now or the price won't be same. What kind of place is this?

Beware the upsell

by lonic7

I've been to the UWS location twice now and the facials are decent. However, the constant upsell is probably going to prevent me from returning a third time. Don't think you are going to book a standard facial and get away with it. The whole time you are in the room trying to relax they are trying to add this mask, that eye treatment, this peel, microderm etc. It's a hard sell from the second you get on the table. If I really wanted $300 in extras I would have asked for them in the first place. No, I'm not exaggerating on the $300 in extras- I did the math on all of the things that were being proposed to me and if I would have said yes to all of them- my facial would have been over $400 in total.

  • Pros: Nice staff, decent facial
  • Cons: Pushy $$$ upselling

Amazing services.great deals,really nice staff

by dolly065

I went to yin beauty spa about 3 weeks ago for a facial it was not only one of the best facials I had but the whole experience was great when i arrived the front desk help was so friendly they start with a cup of hot tea while i filled out a form for my facial. I came in for the deep cleansing facial witch was amazing and so much more relaxing then any other deep cleanse facial i have had before My therapist recommended adding microdermabrasion on to my treatment I was a little hesitant at first cause i know micro can be very expensive but when she told me the price ($50) i was all for it that is much cheaper then i have seen it before .Long story short my skin looked amazing and I also was excited to know that they have a second location on the upper west side which i just got back from for my second appointment (its much closer to my house) I waited to right my review until I had been twice to make sure the service was consistent and it was great I highly recommend cheese spas to every one great results very relaxing and really nice staff . I have finally found a spa that i fully trust and know that I can go to for serious but still relaxing facials at a very fair price.

  • Pros: 2 locations

detox and a facial

by ama2322

Six months ago, i bought one of their "resolution packages." as a treat for myself. Six months later i have been going once a month for my detox and a facial. It's not inexpensive, but its average-priced for this crazy town. Also, they have good deals and packages every so often. I live downtown, and used to frequent a certain place, and when my esthetician disappeared, i left too. And then I found Tracy (at Yin), and have been commuting all the way up there ever since.

Great Spa Week Treatments

by TMgirl

My mom and I went here for spa week and did the body treatment and facial. We both had a really great experience...Mom mom came to visit from LA and she's a big spa queen, and said that her therapist was above par with many of the places she's been out west.

  • Pros: Great staff, good tea and adorable space

Nothing relaxing about it...

by ErikaElena

So I started out completely optimistic. I have been getting facials since I was 14, and since I have only been in New York 4 years, I thought Spa Week was a perfect opportunity to try out some new Spa's. I signed up my roommate and I to get a treatment at the same time. I received a phone call to confirm the night before, so I thought we were off to a great start. Until I arrived there and they said that there was no reservation for my roommate. After waiting 45 min. to start, the treatment left much to be desired. I (as well as my roommate) were completely insulted in hopes that we would up our $50 spa week package. I was told that one (minor) frown line was due to years of damage and loss of collagen. Right...I am 25 and worked for Lancome, I know the difference between skin damaged and up selling (I am a former beauty queen for goodness sake)! She would not massage my face, thought a good massage was picking up my feet a dropping them, and left me in a steaming hot bed that left me feeling like a slab of bacon for 25 min. I am a pretty hard customer to disappoint, but I prefer to be treated like possible valued customer rather than idiot. The Point of Spa Week to test out different options, at a reasonable cost and when you find a fit then feel free to pamper at all costs. But please take my words as a warning and stay far, far away from Yin Beauty and Arts.

  • Pros: That I was able to try during Spa Week
  • Cons: Everything else

healing touch !!!

by har3t

I?ve been going to the Yin Beauty and Arts spa receiving treatments from acupuncturist Dr. Jai for a lower leg problem. I had a very excruciating pain on my l leg over years. I couldn't even walk 10 minutes without pain. Having to Stand for just few minutes would aggravate it. I consider myself of having a high tolerance for pain, but this was just too much, something was defiantly wrong. I went to my primary physician and she prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication, then referred me to an orthopedist and to a physical therapist but nothing was sufficient to rid my leg pain. The orthopedist's only suggestion was to keep exercising, then to call back if the pain persisted. The pain was the factor that kept me from exercising, so I found his suggestion somewhat senseless. I wanted an alternative to taking pills. I appreciated all their efforts, but it just seemed as if I wasn't receiving the right treatment and my leg was not getting any better. After consulting with Dr. Jia, I began to see her once a week. This is the first time I had ever seen anyone for acupuncture and Jia really made me feel comfortable. She's very attentive, sympathetic, knowledgeable, and professional. I felt very confident with her treatment and today my leg feels great. I realized the other night that I had not thought about my pain all day long. It was actually gone. It feels so good to be able to walks again?. thank you, . You've got that amazing, healing touch.
