Stunning

by 70737

Luckily I made reservations early in the week. When we arrived on a Friday night, the restaurant was busy. Though busy, the wait staff took care of us right away. Once we sat down, we never noticed.

The food was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. Chef Gary and his creations are really really good. He had a shredded chicken and bean soup. The combination worked wonders. The hush puppies with balsamic were out of this world. My main dish of Rags and Fungus (combo of mushrooms and fresh pasta) was excellent. Desserts were full of taste but nicely portioned.

If you are planning on being in the Ridgewood area, definitely stop at Silver Oak.

A fresh and exciting experience!

by achalet

The menu offered so many intriguing items that we decided to get several dishes and share. We decided to start off with their Cajun Escargots Etouffe, it was just a melt-in-your-mouth delight. We were taken aback by that unbelievable spicy zing the Escargots had after our initial bite. We then ordered the Rich Man, Poor Man and the Lamb Four Ways, as our main course. My husband and I were both in awe when the dishes were served. The presentation was not only fantastic but very creative! The food looked just as good as it tasted! The Lamb had a wonderful blend of flavors and the goat cheese bread pudding was just the right touch to compliment the taste of the lamb.

The Rich Man, Poor Mans grilled monkfish and lobster were cooked to perfection and were a palate-pleasing delight! It is absolutely recommended, and will most definitely return!

  • Pros: Food was unbelievable, atmosphere, service
  • Cons: small restaurant

A great new Southern addition to Ridgewood

by jfeygin

The Silver Oak is a great resturant. The food is something very unexpected for Ridgewood. For example, their signature dish is Shrimp and Grits. They have a black and white photos of oak trees, which give off the look of a silver oak.

The food was wonderful, the entree came with a bistro salad that was served with very pretty looking tomatoes. The chocolate creme pie dessert was like a chocolate lava flow, it was absolutly delicious. For my appetizer I had the amazing Shrimp and Grits. For my entree I had Rags and Fungus, a quirky name for a wonderful dish. The pasta was made in the kitchen, and served with mushrooms.

The wait staff was always around, and striked up conversation very easily. The chef even made his rounds and introduced himself to me. This is a very great addition to Ridgewood.

  • Pros: Great atmosphere, Great food, Chef Gary

Truly a wonderful dining experience

by bertholf

Truly a wonderful dining experience. From the appetizer to the main entree. Everything was fresh and extremely favorable. The restaurant is small but you become acquainted with your neighbor when your meal comes to you. You seem to just talk and ask what they are having. It is a very friendly atmosphere and the wait staff is also very friendly and attentive. A dining experience you should not miss.

A great break from the usual

by clischy

Worth the trip at twice the 50-mile ride! Truly a break from the ordinary! I shared had the Crabby Chicken with lump crab, Cajun chicken boudin sausage, apple-slaw and herb coulee. I found myself tasting something new in each bite and the combination was unique and satisfying.

Prepare yourself for the utmost in quality ingredients and presentation. The Craw-Cat-fish was an unexpected and exceptional entrée lightly wrapped in a straw potato crust and stuffed with crab. My Wife had the Snapper and was equally amazed at the ensemble of spaghetti squash and hint of orange with herb. A very relaxed and pleasant environment with attentive and friendly staff. Conversation is easy in this calm and unhurried atmosphere. Nice background music and you feel comfortable as soon as you sit down. Finish with one of the outstanding, desserts du jour and you will have had yourself a most memorable dining experience.

  • Pros: Attentive Service, High quality food, reasonable priced
  • Cons: none
