I wish i'd read the scam notice below. went to this s-hole on new years. dropping 1k on bottles wasnt ideal, but expected. getting rooked out of another 200 in hidden charges is insulting. dont use a credit card here. otherwise, there was nothing else redeeming about this place.

Fabulous time as always, been here roughly 7-10 times since its opening in Fall of 2005 with fellow young professionals & it always pleases me to see that they are still playing the latest mixes of hip-hop, reggae & Alternative rock & old school mixes. The DJs always heats up the dance floor. You have your mixed crowd of lame 21 yr olds, Young professionals & fashionistas. I have to say judge for urself. If you are hot, you are treated like a rockstar! love this place! You guys have to get in to see the dancers on stage! Hot, hot hot, esp on Saturday & Thursday nights....Waitresses can be hotter please. - by an experienced lounge/club veteran. in my mid-late 20s.

This place was packed with 21 year olds who couldn't stand. We entered to a horrific coat check, waited about 20 minutes to get drinks-that were only top shelf if you specified-and got slammed around for 5 hours by the idiotic 21 year olds. (pushed, shoved, elbowed, stepped on, and left soaked with peoples drinks) The line for the bathroom, being run by the most dense bouncers in Manhattan, took 45 minutes!! Employees were rude and inconsiderate. Good music was the ONLY plus. Highly do NOT recommend going here. Especially not when you have to pay 150 bucks to be annoyed on new years. ridiculous.

Pros: Good Music

Cons: young, immature crowd, nasty staff, bathroom line was ridiculous.

I went to Stereo the other night for an NBA party that they were hosting and this place is off the hook...i read so many bad reviews about this place but my friends and i had absolutely no problems with the security guards as a matter of fact they even told us that if anybody got on our nerves just let them know and they'll get kicked out. If you cant get into this club then your a f**kin loser because they are not selective at the door there were so many girls wit f**cked up weaves that got in..anyway we had a blast there were tons of basketball players there that night too...i would defitnetly recommend it you will have so much fun..only negative thing i can say is that the drinks are pricey but other than that Stereo is where its at!!!!

Pros: Good music, good looking rich men, good strong drinks, good overall enviornment

Cons: drinks are too expensive

This place was a complete waste of time. My friend put us on the list (thank goodness) and once we got in the door past the long line at 1:30 am, the place was empty. The music was horrible, you couldn't dance to anything. The only music I recognized was the numerous Justin Timberlake songs they played over and over again. The worst part of it all was that this overpriced place with overpriced drinks used HOMEMAKERS juice as their mixer for drinks. If you don't know what HOMEMAKERS is, it is the cheap juice, cheaper than koolaid, that they sell at the bodegas. I did not pay 11 dollars for a drink for them to use fake juice. Needless to say the drinks were disgusting. I was not impressed. Do not waste your time!!!

Pros: Location

Cons: Disgusting Drinks

Went to Stereo for a friends b-day & we were all pretty disappointed. The line outside was HUGE, but since we were a group of attractive females, we were immediately ushered to the front of the line. The bouncer checked our ID's and then made us wait for an additional 10 min. before we were let in, which had us completely puzzled. Once inside though, it became very clear that they hold people on the line outside to make it seem like it's absolutely packed inside, when nothing could be further from the truth. Stereo is tiny & the place wasn't even 1/2 full on a Thu at 1AM. It took forever to get a drink because the 2 bartenders were too busy chatting with each other to do their jobs. And once I finally got to order my glass of wine, it was $9, which would have been fine had it not been served to me in a plastic cup! The music for the most part was really cheesy and undanceable, with a scattering of good songs every now and then. After about an hour, we had had enough and were ready to leave. The only reason we even stayed that long is because we met alot of really nice people. One guy even bought us a bottle of champagne when he discovered it was my friends b-day, which was beyond generous and extremely sweet. Anyway, as I said before, after an hour we had enough, so we walked 3 blocks over to Marquee where we had a truly amazing time. I suggest you do the same.

Pros: Nice patrons (surprisingly)

Cons: inattentive staff, "fake" lines, bad music, small dance floor

This is a good place to go with your friends, it is small and intimate not like most of the big NYC clubs. The main bar is pretty big so I did not have to wait to long for a drink. I guess it depends on what night you go in regards to the music. FYI – the floors are not lit up and I feel walking down the stairs near the DJ booth.. The floors are also a bit slippery.

Poor quality place, and very poor choice for people with any class. But, if you have no class and feel good about yourself when spending big amounts to get into "pseudo-exclusive" joints like this, then by all means, go for it! You'll dress up in your party clothes and trod onto rat-infested broken down backstreet sidewalks to stand in what appear to be long lines (deliberately kept that way by the door staff to give the impression that it's the "in-place" - wait until you get inside, you'll see there's no reason for the fake "crowd control" on the sidewalk to begin with). Can't really blame the club for the nasty streets and sidewalks though - hey, the area is what it is - surrounded by chain-link fences and industrial property. Just remember it's not like you'll be strolling around midtown when the door creeps look you over and "determine" that you don't look likely to spend $600 on booze inside, hence, out you go. I guess I unfortunately have the boozer look, as both times I've gone, I've been unlucky enough to get in. The crowd is really young - early 20's, or faking up to that age - and in the lines on the sidewalk the guys talk about their favorite car engines (not cars, but car engines), and the girls talk about trying to swap hours with the next person at work so they "don't have to close on Saturday night". Coming in with me, my own friends and I just tend to stay quiet, as we realize we don't have the same level of cool things to discuss; and topics such as "Why is this line moving so slowly?" would clearly show that we're not "down with the hip Club Stereo vibe". Inside, the music system shrieks, the bar is expensive, and the restroom lines long. Better choices are plentiful in NYC - especially with regard to classier club goers not "trying to prove" their hipness by overpaying for everything, more polite door staff, nicer neighborhoods, and "fake" exclusivity when not even minor celebrities would even go near the place.

Pros: Might not get in if not on their arbitrary "Guest List", but that's a PRO!

Cons: You might come away feeling strongly as if you could've had a better time elsewhere.

I made table reservations for a party of 6. I showed at the door with myself and 6 attractive females. They make people with reservations (to buy 2 or more bottles) wait on line???? after waiting on line they showed us a table that could only fit 2 people. I explained to the hostess and the manager that I was willing to spend over 1,000 dollars for the night in exchange for a table that could AT LEAST fit 4 people, even though i came with 5. He stated "This is a club bro, what do you expect" So we left on that note RUDE Hostess and Stupid Manager. We ended up going to plumm where we were offered a table in VIP. They made 1,000 dollars that stereo lost. DO NOT GO TO STEREO AND WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE RUDE SERVICE

The clubland lounge is gone with the wind, but the owners have plans to open a new club soon--name and location are TBA.  See the full editorial review.
