Wanna-be exclusive but nothing to back it up. WEAK (on 2 separate occassions, same thing)!

Poor quality place, and very poor choice for people with any class. But, if you have no class and feel good about yourself when spending big amounts to get into "pseudo-exclusive" joints like this, then by all means, go for it! You'll dress up in your party clothes and trod onto rat-infested broken down backstreet sidewalks to stand in what appear to be long lines (deliberately kept that way by the door staff to give the impression that it's the "in-place" - wait until you get inside, you'll see there's no reason for the fake "crowd control" on the sidewalk to begin with). Can't really blame the club for the nasty streets and sidewalks though - hey, the area is what it is - surrounded by chain-link fences and industrial property. Just remember it's not like you'll be strolling around midtown when the door creeps look you over and "determine" that you don't look likely to spend $600 on booze inside, hence, out you go. I guess I unfortunately have the boozer look, as both times I've gone, I've been unlucky enough to get in. The crowd is really young - early 20's, or faking up to that age - and in the lines on the sidewalk the guys talk about their favorite car engines (not cars, but car engines), and the girls talk about trying to swap hours with the next person at work so they "don't have to close on Saturday night". Coming in with me, my own friends and I just tend to stay quiet, as we realize we don't have the same level of cool things to discuss; and topics such as "Why is this line moving so slowly?" would clearly show that we're not "down with the hip Club Stereo vibe". Inside, the music system shrieks, the bar is expensive, and the restroom lines long. Better choices are plentiful in NYC - especially with regard to classier club goers not "trying to prove" their hipness by overpaying for everything, more polite door staff, nicer neighborhoods, and "fake" exclusivity when not even minor celebrities would even go near the place.

Pros: Might not get in if not on their arbitrary "Guest List", but that's a PRO!

Cons: You might come away feeling strongly as if you could've had a better time elsewhere.

The clubland lounge is gone with the wind, but the owners have plans to open a new club soon--name and location are TBA.  See the full editorial review.
