Good lunch, horrible dinner!
by AlexShown
I work in the area and like to go there for a lunch. It could be really busy and you'd better have more than 30 min lunch break. The food is good, the prises OK. Me and my girlfriend went there for a dinner and were really disappointed. Three different people have asked us about reservation, we've been waited a long time for out main course. And when we were leaving nobody asked if we had a nice time, but we have heard three "good bye"s. It felt more like being in a diner, than at the restaurant. Would not recommend this place for a nice romantic dinner.
Though I like the lunches, waiters are more friendly. Wish they quit changing the wait staff.
PS always a problem with bread.
- Pros: Deserts!!
- Cons: Service, long waiting time for food!
Authentic Italian food
by mmarotta
It is refreshing to find authentic Italian food in New York for Italian born New Yorkers. The menu offers not obvious choices and they are always in tune with latest food trend in Italy! Cheeses and desserts are great! Try "formaggio sotto cenere" and panzerotti, amazingly good!!!
Great Wine and Jody is the best bartender...
by Pritisimple
Been here a few times, its a great place to take business associates or a few girls or a date. Jody is by far one of the best bartenders I've ever met, he's wonderfully sweet, knowledgeable and honest about whats good, whats just ok. I will continue to come back here for the wonderful wine and cheeses... the decor is beautiful, perfect perfect little find...
- Pros: Great Selection of wines and cheeses
- Cons: small, upsetting when the bar is full :(
Great Italian Dinner
by mereditheats
I stumbled across Tarallucci's after a long evening shopping with one of my friends after work. The restaurant was really warm and inviting. The watiress helped us pick out a really great and not that expensive bottle of wine. The food was great and the service was great. We had a really nice time. I def will be back. I actually sent my mother there for dinner last week with some of her friends and they really liked it. All in all 5 stars.
- Pros: Great wine selection and great food
Great food and nice atmosphere

Had a wonderful Saturday brunch here. The atmosphere inside is nice and we landed a nice outdoor table out front. The food was great especially the pasta dishes.
Miserable Experience
by darbyb
This was the worst dining experience we have had since we moved to the city. The service was terrible. Our waitress was rude and hardly acknowledged us. We had to wave her down for attention and she gave us nasty looks. The food was ok, but not great, and the portions were small. I would recommend skipping this place altogether. You are better off elsewhere.
- Pros: the cheese
- Cons: the wait staff and portions
Casual Italian, lively atmosphere
by donotdwell
Wide array of choices to suit everyone- cheeses, antipasto, appetizers, pastas & mains. Interesting, almost odd plate combinations; chef could limit the menu and polish up what he's offering, but still quite good! Yes, the front-of-house is barely adequate and service needs some polishing up, but guys, this is not Daniel; if you want your ring kissed or just want a lot to eat, go elsewhere. Loud, so not for the romantic at heart. Good for groups.
- Pros: Good, interesting food combinations, lively atmosphere
- Cons: A little too loud, service not spectacular
mezza mezza

Pasta dishes are overpriced. This place is nice for lunch but don't go for dinner. Very poor service. We were ignored all night.
- Pros: nice relaxing atmosphere
- Cons: overpriced, bad service
Sit down and enjoy -- instantly back in Italy!
by dineout2night
This is the place I go to when I want to have a frothy cappuccino or a full glass of montepulciano, the place where I enjoy a warm cornetto a la crema for breakfast, a panino with prosciutto or bresaola for lunch and a plate of cheeses with honeys and chutneys then gnocchi with radicchio and tiny bits of spek (bacon) for dinner. Maybe it's because I almost always hear Italian when I go here or maybe it's because it just feels and tastes Italian but Tarallucci e Vino transports me almost instantly to my days as a student in Rome. There's that same feeling of warmth and style and there's that simple yet scrumptious food. Yes, sometimes it hits me that I am steps off of Union Square (it can get a little noisy at peak times) but mostly whether belly to the bar or tucked in the back corner savoring a gelato, I am happy that I've come and so are my friends and family.
- Pros: The original and delicious Italian food, the good wines.
- Cons: It can be too noisy at peak times.
An Awful Evening
by nickyintheapple
Where do I even begin?
1. Reservation was lost.
2. Dinner was overpriced, subpar and slow to arrive.
3. Manager was screaming at the staff at the top of her lungs.
4. A waiter was very loudly fired while we were still finishing dinner.
5. The bathroom was a pig sty (never a good sign)
I agree with the post that says "just keep walking." This was a horrible experience.
- Pros: nice lighting.
- Cons: everything else.
