Great place for dates!
by EthelB
I have sooo enjoyed eating at Alice's, the decor is entertaining; the music is always "on" in the background. It is fun watching the special food come out on the tall trays. Service can be casual when busy. but it gives us the time to enjoy. Staff is incredibly welcoming and warm. The wait is worth the warm chocolate cake. I enjoy the knowledgeable recommendations about the tea. As a single woman, I've enjoyed the tea infused cocktails and meeting my dates there. I have discovered breakfast at Alice's is incredible and there is no wait.
- Pros: ambience, food, service with a smile
- Cons: waits can be long on weekends
Horrible Service, Manager with ?THE? Attitude
by fabi2008
I set up an appointment with a friend of mine at this tea house. I had heard how lovely it was and was looking forward to have their scones. Unfortunately I had to arrive a bit late, and when I arrived there I found my friend siting outside on a nearby stairway. She told me that they wouldn?t sit her without me, even though the house was pretty much empty (it was around 3:00pm in a Thursday afternoon). I a bit annoyed and went inside to ask what was wrong. I met a very furious manager, who got very angry with me for the mere fact that I decided to make a comment about his ?rule of the house?. Apparently they do not sit anyone if the party is not complete (it can be a party of 2). I can leave with that, but please, there is absolutely no need to be rude and impolite! Nope, I will never return to this place again! Lame staff!
- Pros: Cannot see any
- Cons: Horrible Staff
Awesome Brunch and Great Selection of Tea!
by amybabyamy
I went to Alice's Teacup on a whim for brunch on a Sunday with a friend. I love anything Alice in Wonderland and very much enjoyed my experience here. We did have to wait an hour for a table because of private parties taking place upstairs and in the back, but we put our name in and went to Bloomingdales and there was a table ready when we returned. I am kind of a tea buff and was happy to see an extensive selection -- I even bought a few ounces on my way out. I had the vegetarian omlette and it was absolutely delicious with lots of veggies and cook pears on the side. I even mentioned to the waitress that I'd like to have my birthday party there, and after explaining the cost decided it was too expensive. However, about a week later I received an email about having a party with significantly cut costs. Though I've decided not to do a party there (since it's too close to the date), I will certainly consider it in the future. The downside? Too many children for my taste.
Lame servers

The scones were good, the tea was good. Unfortunately the service was pretty pathetic. We got served our food after about 15 minutes (not unreasonable, but it was only tea and scones). Then, after eating, we sat around for at least 40 minutes without anybody asking us if we needed a check of if we were doing alright. Finally we had to flag down our waitress to get her to notice us (this was on a fairly slow day, mind you). We then wait 10 minutes for the girl to pick up the credit card, and then decide to just go downstairs and pay at the register. The girl gives us a look when we try to pay at the register, and then hands the card over to another girl, who ran to the back to run it through the machine before tossing it at us with an attitude.
Not the worst thing in the world, but give me a freakin' break. Probably won't go back unless it's unavoidable.
- Pros: Good tea, good scones
- Cons: Servers are pretty ignorant
extensive tea list and great food!
by cutielorac
fall down the rabbit hole into a yummy tea and sandwich restaurant! our favorite tea is the organic ginger tea. the tea list is extensive-- there's one for everyone. the food is so great as well. the salmon benedict is really tasty but a new favorite has been the croque monsieur which is a grilled sandwich with ham and gruyere cheese on raisin semolina bread. this is coming from someone who doesn't even eat cheese EVER! it's that good. :) it's fun to go during brunch on a saturday or sunday-- usually the wait isn't too long, if at all. also, the staff is friendly.
- Pros: great tea, fun scenery, awesome food
- Cons: at times unable to accomodate if there is a party
Can't Get Much Sweeter!

What an adorable tea salon! The staff is so friendly, and the atmosphere so magical, you would think you really were in wonderland! The scones are amazing (try the pumpkin), and the tea sandwiches were equally scrumptious. I had such a wonderful experience my first visit, I rented out space to throw a baby shower for a friend of mine, which turned out to be a truly memorable experience. They are also a very family oriented salon, and the staff is amazing with kids. I highly recommend Alices!

Best little teahouse in New York!
by varinableil
Best scones and cupcakes I've ever had! The sandwiches were divine. They hosted a marvelous teaparty for my wedding shower with excellent service that made me feel very special. Highly recommend.
Great for brunch or a girls get-together.

My friends and I went to Alice's Tea Cup for brunch as part of a bachelorette day. We unfortunately were very late for our reservation and they had to give the table away. However the staff was very accomodating, they said theyd have a table in an hour, took my cell # and called me when they had a table ready which was about 50 minutes later. It was totally our fault we were late and they were not rude or annoyed at all. The tea was great, the food, the cocktails, everything was adorable. They had a rather large menu for such a little place. I tried my friends cocktail which was yummy too. Definitely a great place to meet friends and chat.
THESE PEOPLE ARE GETTING CHEAP!

Ok, I have been going to this place for a about a year now for tea and scones to go...
The tea is really good so I get a different one every time I pass by. In that time I have noticed that the small tea cup has gotten SMALLER and the scones have SHRUNK! Before I could buy my tea and scone ($4.50) with my debit card but now there's a $10 minimum to use your debit/credit card. And I really don't appreciate how you gotta sugar your own tea with those damn packets like its a Starbucks.
I never had a sit-down lunch so I don't know how that service is; but let me tell ya most likely will end up being frustrated if you get something to go. NOT GOING TO PASS BY AGAIN!
- Pros: Good Tea
- Cons: SMALL EXPENSIVE TEA AND SCONES, S L O W Staff
