Horrible, awful, horrendous...and LAME!
by zeffer555
One of the worst nights of my life was spent at The Nexus Lounge. It is so awful that I actually realized if I had a baseball bat I would come into this establishment and deliver a much needed beat down. Once the police got there...they would take a look at the place and give me a medal. A horrible, horrible, horrible place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Pros: Nice lighting.
- Cons: The staff and management belong in a medieval dungeon!
great spot for your party

we just got back from a friend's 30th b-day party and can't stop talking about nexus and how much it sucked. bottom line - it's a wannabe trendy night club in the basement of an irish bar. there is an actual velvet rope, then you go downstairs, past the "mandatory coat check" (they pulled members of our party out from the basement to make them check their coats - for a fee). staff was rude and music was predictable. we left at midnight. will never go back. it may be easy for the host - according to earlier reviews -i have no idea - what i do know is that almost every person from our party tonight had a complaint about how sh*tty the bar treated them. even the b-day girl was rolling her eyes.
- Pros: it's a bar
- Cons: if i could rate zero stars i would
Great music and fun people!

I planned a birthday party for my friend at Nexus lounge. It was easy and hassle free. The music and the crowd is great. DJ is really good at mixing good dancing music. What i like about Nexus is that it is classy with no velvet rope. I did not have to buy bottle service to reserve a table. Unlike what the other reviewers wrote, the place is actually very clean and the dancing is fantastic! i would definitely come back.
Hightly recommend this venue for your party

I just had my party here last night and it went off without a hitch. The manager, Paul, was so nice and helped me thru the whole planning process. When I got there, the staff was very accomodating and they hooked me up with my own section for my guests. The music was bumpin' and everybody had a good time. After previous years of bad bday party experiences, Nexus Lounge was able to give me a great bday.
- Pros: Music, staff and crowd
Best party yet!!

This was my 30th Bday party bash and i couldnt have picked a better place. The night went so smooth, the Dj rocked and everyone was loving it. The atmosphere is relaxed and definitely gets you in a party mood. Another bonus about this spot was the cool staff and reasonable drink prices.

This low-lit lounge features long banquettes, a DJ booth cut from the brick wall and a full bar.
Worst service ever

I had reserved this place for my birthday party. My reservation was at 9:00pm. They could not open up the place untill 9:20pm because the bartender did not show up. I made a reservation for 20 to 25 people, but they reserved only 2 tables for us. When I asked about the dress code, the manager said "no sweat pants, no sneakers" but the security guard did not let my friend come in because he was wearing boots. I complained to the manager and he said he is going to bring us a bottle of champagne for applogy. Of course he did not do it and just disappeared from the lounge. They are so irresponsible. This is the worst place I've ever been for a party. NEVER EVER PLAN A PARTY at this place.
Overall it's a great place for a party

I was looking for a place to have my 30th party - was going to be on a Saturday night, for 50-70 people and I wanted good music to dance to, no lines/list, space reserved without having to pay a fortune or guarantee too much money for drinks, a cool atmosphere and a place that wouldn't get packed - so quite a tall order in NYC. I stumbled across nexus and liked it because it seemed to fit all of the criteria and it didn't seem that too many people knew about it yet. I talked to Paul the manager several times about the party and he said he would reserve one side of the bar for me, i wouldnt have to pay any money or guarantee drinks, and he let me request a dj that played mainstream music. He also said that not too many other people would be allowed down to the party. All in all, in turned out to be a great night - the music was great and my friends had a lot of fun and the bartender gave all of my drinks to me on the house. I was initially annoyed because when i got there he had only reserved 2 sets of seats for me and said that they had double booked and so there would be 4 parties down there. When I complained (and i had just confirmed 2 days before) he moved one of the parties upstairs. They also let too many people down as the bouncer seemed to disappear for a bit but overall i think it offered almost everything i was looking for so i would recommend it - you just need to stay on top of things!
- Pros: Cool atmosphere, good music, not overly packed
- Cons: Need to stay on top of management when planning a party
