Finally found the worst food in NYC!

Went here late night in search of some comfort food. Somehow this place figured out how to make simple things taste incredibly bad. The french fries tasted like the oil hadn't been changed since the place opened. The nachos had brown guac, pink sour cream, and the taste of staleness throughout.
Please do yourself and the rest of your dining party a favor and do not go here. They also illegally add a service charge for all parties late night.
- Cons: Worst food ever
An unexpected guest with your blue cheese dressing madam?

We were hungry and as I am pregnant I fancied some french fries and a burger. We almost went to L'Express, (wish we had now!) but walked past Big Daddy's Diner. We had eaten there before about two years ago and thought it was ok then! Where do I start, the service is horrible, I had to ask for water from the busboy who did not understand me? However the real stinker was when our food FINALLY came out not only had they messed up the order but the blue cheese dressing that came with my burger (I asked for it on the side!) had an extra ingredient, an unexpected guest! We both now feel rather silly, we should of asked to speak to the manager, but instead we hailed the busboy (as our waitress was useless and took no notice of us most of the time!) to take it away. The manager did eventually ask us if everything was ok, I complained about the unexpected guest in the blue cheese dressing, but he did not seem very apologetic or offer to deduct the cost of the $13 burger from our bill. I agree with other recent reviewers of this place, the service is terrible, the food grossly overpriced, and now these not so charming guests, what next I wonder? Maybe its time to call 311??
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Expensive, terrible service, shall I go on......
I'm tired of over paying for poor service and average food!

Ugh! I've had it with this place. The food is okay, it's ridiculously over priced though. I mean, $10 for a turkey sandwich and I have to pay extra for fries? Come on!
Not only that, the service is just terrible. I live around the corner, we actually share cross streets and every time (no exaggeration -EVERY TIME) the delivery guy gets lost! I live on Gramercy Park S (which is 20th Street) and they're on Park between 20th & 19th - and they can't find me!
Not only that, they're slow as snails. The table service is terrible, I'm always asking for drink refills and water from them. They are always 30 minutes later than they say when delivering... and I mean, that could be because the delivery guy is lost and calls me from a completely different neighborhood - but still! I'm done! No more will I order from here! There are too many good diners out there to waste my money and time here.
- Pros: When the food is good, it's good
- Cons: The food is inconsistent. The services is terrible! Delivery is a nightmare!

You figure you cant mess up diner food. I have ben here twice and both time I was extremely disappointed. Every piece of food I ever had there was subpar. Hot chocolate they skimp on by only using half a packet. Burgers and chicken fingers just didnt taste right, the shakes are watery and waaayy too sweet. Just overrall wasn't an enjoyable experience, the vibe of the place is goofy. You would figure a place selling their own t-shirts would take the time to serve some good food. This falls into the category of a tourist trap.
- Pros: location
- Cons: FOOD
An Unexpected Side with Your Homefries

My friend and I had a lunch at BigDaddy's, and at the end of the meal I noticed this small insect on my plate. I showed it to the waiter, who called the manager right away. The manager apologized and offered me two $5 coupons to the place (as if I ever want to eat there again!). He, however, didn't hesitate to bring the FULL BILL, including the eggs with the side of those home fries. I suggested to the manager (politely, I must say) to take the gift certificates back and not to charge me AT LEAST for the insect dish. He did take off this dish from the bill, but didn't do it with the rest of the meal as I expected. I will never be back--on top of serving me an insect from the kitchen, they didn't take care of their disgusted customer.
Great food, excellent service

I really like Big Daddy's! My friend and I just went there we have gotten wonderful service. The first time I went and ordered for carry-out, and it took a while longer than expected for a burger, but the host told me that he couldn't make any promises about speed so I appreciated that honesty. It ended up being worth the wait though. The next time I went back with a friend and the same young man served us and was very prompt and we both ordered the Lee's Chicken Salad which was exceptional. The server was a lot of fun too, saying he had just moved to New York and kind of played with us as we ordered, he was great...It seems that he loves his job! I would go back for the entertainment of him alone, but the food is a definite draw...(not overpriced for the portions and the quality---this is NOT a diner!)
The only thing I would say is just that--do not go for pick-up orders as it is not the speediest place on earth, if you're in a rush, but if you have time it is sooo worth it!
- Pros: Excellent waiter!!!
- Cons: Speed on carry-out if ANYTHING
Great place...

I love Big Daddys. I eat or order from here at least twice a week. I hear a lot of people whine about the prices b/c they think they're stepping into a Joe Juniors old NY type of late night diner (dont know why considering the location... duh), and as far as a rest. on Park Ave goes its a pretty good deal for really good portions and fresh food. If your looking for a $2.95 greasy egg and bacon on a roll then go to a deli on third ave. My advice is to give yourself time to eat there (good atmosphere anyway) and dont go if your looking for a quick in/quick out greasy spoon place, it's a restaurant with an Americana/diner theme IMO, your food can take a good 15 minutes but its worth the wait.
Recommended... Tater Tots and the Rappers Delight 2 sandwich.
- Pros: Fun music and lots to look at (cool retro lunchboxes etc...)
- Cons: Sometimes theres a wait for brunch.
Great comfort food!

The Yogi Bear Smoothie is the best smoothie ever. The berry berry pancakes were delish!! the waitress was super friendly and helpful with helping us choose what to order. I'd come back every weekend for brunch!

Ordered the house special "Fried Chicken" bit into it and it was cold in middle, which my date and I touched just to make sure we weren't imagining this. Notified Waitress, she notified manger. Few minutes later brought me out Chicken again, with the same half eaten/bitten piece still sitting on top, just fried over or microwaved. My date tried the leg and could not eat it, thought it tasted like freezer burn chicken. Waitress or manger NEVER came back over to see if second time around any better. Finally bus boy cleared my never eaten plate. Had to ask 3 different people for check. Mentioned to waitress (where the manger could overhear) that chicken was horrible, she made an excuse that they were short staffed. I would never go back. Don't know what the fuss is about...We were not the only ones there that could not get good service. Noticed people having to wave hands in the air in order to get a waitress to take an order.
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: waitress, manager, cold, not cooked properly food
