If you can't find it here, you can have it delivered. The beer selection is the BEST in Hell's Kitchen and the fact that there's no kitchen means you can pair your beer selection with any grub in the hood. Polite staff, satellite music and the best BIG SCREENS in the area result in a totally awesome experience for everyone. Don't tell just anyone about this place, just folks you want to see again.
Once you've done the V, you'll be back again and again...
...if you can find it. They're hiding in plain sight.
- Pros: BEST SELECTION
- Cons: Hard to find.
Health hazards.
by StatenIslandBoy
This bar is horrible. They have a problem with their 'plumbing', (so they say), and the bar stinks to high heaven. The bathrooms are disgusting so don't expect to use it if you go there.
While reading up on the area I have learned that the site of the bar used to be an in house dry cleaner. Well, they use a chemical called "Perk" which is highly toxic and doesn't just go away with the rebuilding of the space. In other words, their exhaust and air system is bad news... Google it if you need further proof.
There's this annoying magician that hangs around and harasses you until you buy him a drink to go away. I think he may work there or something because hes always there and seems to help himself to whatever he wants behind the bar.
All in all, there are much better places in the neighborhood that you could go to that wont charge you inflated prices for skunk beer, and don't have medical issues attached to them.
- Pros: In a great neighborhood.
- Cons: Health hazard.
Skunky Beer and a Dead Atmosphere
by bacmad19
I was at Valhalla a few months ago and tried some of my favorite, unique beers that they had on tap. Unfortunately, it appears as if they go through some of their many beers on tap very slowly as the beers had a were very skunky.
There was also a very small crowd on a Thursday night, resulting in the openness of the center of the bar leaving a very empty atmosphere in the bar.
- Cons: Skunky Beer, Atmosphere
A nice spot

I was at Valhalla last weekend with a couple of girlfriends and we had a great time. The beer selection was excellent and the bartenders were very quick to serve you, despite of the crowd. The cute door man was a little strict with carding us, but we were all of age and he was polite so it wasn?t a so bad. They have tables that accommodate a nice size group and I learned that you can reserve one in advance. All in all I have to say that it was a nice little place and I recommend it.
- Pros: Beer selection, polite staff
- Cons: No food, but they let you bring your own in.
Bouncer has an attitude problem
by acporter
What bouncer tries to deter 3 single, attractive, well-dressed 20-something women from coming back to his bar? We went into Valhalla last week, but decided not to stay. There was a football game on TV, which ended as soon as we got there -- patrons started leaving, so we decided to go elsewhere. On our way out, the bouncer yelled at us "there's a $5 TV viewing charge per customer!" Really? I'll NEVER go back to Valhalla and will tell all my young, hot friends to avoid it as well.
Great Service and wonderful beers

I was walking down 9th Ave yesterday and decided to cross the street to have a look at this place. After looking through the open doors I saw this very open concept bar with what appeared to be a large number of beers on tap.
Well I ventured in and sat at the bar and was greated pleasantly by a young lady, who I later found out went by the name of Tamara.
I decided to be guided through my tasting experience requesting Tamara to make my choices after providing a few preferences, and am I glad I did. Tamara, started me off with a great tasting Belgium beer called De Koninck, followed by a Goliath and even the USA brand called smuttynose Mai Bock was wonderful. I toped off my adventure with a wonderful beer called Stone smoke porter.
I highly recommend this place as both Tamara and fine young gentleman by the name of Joe, were really fine hosts, so I hope the bar owner sees this as I had a wonderfull afternoon and enjoyed my favorite burger from the Island Burger.
Keep up the good work
- Pros: Beer and service
- Cons: no munchies
Fantastic place

I went here last night with one of my friends and we had a great time. The waitress was friendly and helpful. When we first arrived we found that there weren't any happy hour specials, but the waitress did tell us about their specials. We left for another bar and when we came back a few hours later she remembered us and was so welcoming and knowledgeable about the beers. I really love drinking a good beer (Bud makes me cringe) and the Yankees/Red Sox game was on the TV's so it made for a fun atmosphere. I plan to go back soon and take some friends with me!
- Pros: Staff are great, beer selection can't be beat
- Cons: ???
NICE CLEAN BAR
by zwerner
decent place - stopped in Halloween night - the bar tenders had candy for the trick or treaters and were very friendly. GREAT selection of beers on tap, plus the place was very clean (or at least seemed clean). There are large tables, small bar tables and stools at the bar itself. lots of TVs for him, no skeevy sticky floors for her.
- Pros: wide selection beers, clean for 9th avenue
- Cons: very open floor plan/little privacy
At this Nordic-themed bar, beer drinkers feel like they've died and gone to heaven.

In Short
Named for the afterlife destination of slain Vikings, Valhalla is a beer drinker's paradise. Wrought iron chandeliers and wood-paneled walls might make Erik the Red feel at home, but the sleek flat-screen TVs remind the Hell's Kitchen crowd that horned helmets aren't required. The only necessity is some decisiveness--otherwise, you'll be stuck choosing between 24 taps of international and American brews, plus a wide selection of bottles (including Trappist ales) and 30 single-malts.
IF you like Beer this is the place!

This is a great brauhaus in Hell's Kitchen. They have an awesome tap wall...there's even Chimay on tap but they have odd stuff like Tuborg or Dogfish. The atmosphere is good too. Relaxed but buzzing with people. The place kind of reminds me of an old (but not from the 70's) college eating hall (in a good way) with the wood paneling and iron light fixtures. Service is pretty good. The kitchen just opened and the red snapper was really great but they have good bar munchies too. All in all, a great time.
- Pros: Great drinks and food
- Cons: can get crowded
