Rest In Peace

The West Village Bourgeois Pig was great, I had some good times there, but I actually just read on JuliB that that location closed in August (JuliB does a good job of keeping on top of these things). Sorry guys. There's a new East Village location though, across the street from the old East Village location on E. 7th St.
Great interior & amazing desserts

I love this place! Every time we tried to go to the East Village location it was always impossible to get in, and then by accident we stumbled upon the one in West Village. I love everything there--the interior, the music, the drinks. And they're open really late too. My favorite place to go to after dinner!
- Pros: great drinks, great interior
Wine + Chese + Chocolate = Good

Great place. Prefer this location to the east village location. Try the champagne cocktails if you like sweet drinks, my favorite is the Rosetta.
Snug bordello digs in the West Village for swilling wine and sipping coffee.

In Short
This narrow nook of a bar, lit only by a red-neon sign and a few melting candles, affords a cozy alternative to the neighborhood's NYU overload. A bordello vibe seeps in through the soulful background jazz music and surrounds the mini-chandeliers, ornately framed mirrors and brocade couches. A European wine list, bottled beers, champagne specialties and decadent coffee drinks all complement the cheese boards, desserts and fondues, delivered by waiters to the marble-topped tables.

My friend dragged me there cause I usually dont like that part of the west village. But when I walked in and heard tom waits all was good. We ate a cheese fondue I forget which but its the first one on the menu and it was great. The crowd was varied and relaxed. The bartender was cool. Overall really good place.
Something New

The West Village often feels very established in a touristy kind of way. It is a lot of fun but sometimes I want something more "real," whatever that may mean. I love the Bourgeois Pig in the East Village, and I love that the West Village one brings a kind of laid back sophistication to the area. Its a reason for New Yorkers who usually avoid the common onslaught of MacDougal St nightlife to come back. Its very small, so when it is crowded movement is a tricky dance of sorts.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Music, Inexpensive
- Cons: Size
