Good food in an unexpected location

I went to dinner with three of my girlfriends on a Friday night and had an above-average dinner for less than $50. In my opinion, this is not super expensive but not cheap either. We each had one or two drinks (beer, wine and liquor drinks), an entree, shared two appetizers and shared one dessert. The waiter was helpful and friendly, especially when my friend changed her order after the appetizers.
Special notes about the food -- the flatbreads are an interesting part of the menu. I was skeptical but the cheese option was really yummy. It had lots of garlic so that always makes it yummy! The steak wraps were small, wrapped in lettuce and, in general, just ok so I wouldn't recommend them. The Orchard Salad was nothing special but hiit the spot. I had the butternut squash Agnolli (which is like something between ravioli and tortellini) and was really really yummy! I would definitely recommend that.
- Pros: location, ambience

beautiful decor, stellar service, excellent wine selections, and a meal that we could have gotten at the corner kebab joint for several hundred dollars less...
- Pros: service, wine list, ambience
- Cons: food, poor value
Bring your own wine?

When I went to this place it was waiting for it's liquor license (maybe still is?), so it was BYOB with no cockage fee. Food's great, smokey and unique. Surprisingly great atmosphere, especially considering there are no windows. It's romantic, good place for conversation, I don't think you can go wrong with this restaurant.
Modern romantic place

You would not expect a place like this to be found in LES but it is quite amazing! I came here on a date and fell in love with the decor, design, and space. The restuarant is well designed and the food was quite amazing! I also had an amazing waiter who suggested their blood-orange soda drink (delicious!), mushroom flatbread, tuna tartar - all of it was amazing! For my entree I had the olive oil poached halibut which was just a bit too salty. I think they might've made a mistake on that one. But my whole experience was amazing and I will definitely be back again.
- Pros: Delicious food, drinks, Great Service, Great Decor, Great Date place.
- Cons: none
Great Food, Steller Service, Nice Ambiance

This cozy little restaurant on Orchard is packed come date night Friday and Sat. I would recommend eating on an "off" night if you don't want to be squished and don't mind the lack of people watching. The food is simply amazing. I had a mushroom flatbread, tuna tartar, and lobster something they were all really excellent. Our waiter provided great service with attentive details to table space (which can be cramped), pace of our dishes coming out and time between wine refills. Ambience is trendy cool with plenty of people watching. I will definitely be going back.
one of the nicest dining rooms in the city

Lovely experience in this comfortably fashionable place. Flatbreads, lobster empanada and Osso Bucco were all exceedingly flavorful. Another poster used the word "tawny" to describe the lighting. It's true, but it's more like honey. The soft and flattering lighting becomes a friendly companion in the room. Props to James, the friendly and personable bartender who is a real good sport. Fabulous spot to surprise your local or out of town visitors with your keen knowledge of the secret locations of marvelous restaurants.
- Pros: everyone looks great in the honey colored lighting
- Cons: having to leave

Best meal I've had since I moved to NYC 4 months ago. The tuna tartar is amazing, as is the ambience and service. I had a wonderful experience
Good but nothing notable (except the lamb)
by suebeelin at Citysearch
The food is good, the atmosphere nice, but there isn't anything really notable about this restaurant. The food is priced average ($10-15 for appetizers, $23-25 entrees) and is definitely good, but the portions are small. The lamb, however, is some of the best that I've had, but they give you 7-8 small slices. The paella is good, but nothing exciting. The halibut is fresh and cooked well. I liked the flatbread, especially the tuna tartare (with a small shaving of parmesian). The beef shortrib flatbread was decent. But for $12, the flatbread is a little overpriced for the neighborhood (6 small squares). I do recommend this place, but there are so many other restaurants out there that I wouldn't be going back... PS-- It's no longer BYOB, and the wines range from $30-200. I had initially chosen this place hoping we could BYOB, but now, without the cost-effective dining out option, this place went from a great deal to just another good place in NYC.
- Pros: easy to get in (make reservations), good quality food
- Cons: not that exciting-- new american/italian
