As we stepped in the door, a large Greek man sitting at the bar welcomed us in. We must have looked out of place, he said 'Come on in, have a drink!'. This place was gorgeous- beautiful colors, dramatic draperies and fabrics, warm lighting, minimal but modern decor. The service was a little slow, but friendly. The wine list was interesting- a lot of wines I didn't recognize. I don't even remember what I ordered, but my glass was only $8. Not too bad. I'm not sure if I would go back, the menu wasn't easy to understand or recognize. We could have used a little assistance

Kellari is a beautiful restaurant with a convenient midtown location that serves delicious Greek food. The service is very good also. I've been there several times and always enjoy myself.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance

We've been here a couple of times now and won't be back. First time it was costly but food was ok, last time food was mediocre and therefore way overpriced. Service is friendly but slow and extremely uninformed. No reason to go here.

It was close to the theatre, sounded good. Was overwhelmed by the food! The pre-theatre menu is such a phenomenal deal. The surprise was the extraordinary food. The grilled calamari, the grilled sardines...over the top. And a whole fish was just unbelievable. On the two recent occasions I ate there, the servers were just so helpful, with a lot of extra attention. All the staff was just wonderful. I plan to eat there many times.
Pros: Service, high quality food.
Cons: None

Authentically magnificent! The food is extraordinary! The Lavraki (fish) is out of this world! Melts like butter in your mouth.
Pros: Live Music, Fresh Food, Great Service
Cons: Parking on Streets

By far one of my favorite places to eat in the city. I've been coming here about once a week since I first found out about this place a few months back. Everything me and my friends have ever ordered has exceeded our expectations from appetizers, entrees, and desserts, to the wine list. The staff is very friendly and attentive, but not at all bothersome. The atmosphere and decor are wonderful. While I do not enjoy seafood, all of my friends have told me they have the best seafood in the city. There is absolutely no reason not to go here. I've recently expanded my horizons to their sister restaurant , Kellari's Parea, which is equally as good, smaller, more intimate, and a bit more casual.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

KT was quite an experience. Had my mother's 70th birthday dinner there and she as well as the other guest were quite impressed. The appetizers were amazing as well as the snapper (most guest had). The lamb riblets were most succulent as it fell right off the bone. Everyone raved over the eggplant and zucchini chips. The host and wait staff were very attentive and not over bearing. Not too loud, that you couldn't hear your dinner mates. (We were at the huge table in the back - which was gorgeous, by the way - that could accomodate about 15 ppl). I would very much recommend as place to carry a date, or have a larger function (10+ ppl) Loved it! Had a wonderful time!! Will go again!
Pros: Ambience, polite and patient staff, food, value

My friend I visited Kellari in November 2007 on our last day in New York. In fact it was our last supper there. We experienced the most friendliest service and recpetion than anywhere esle in NY. Safien the bar manager was a star. As we left I mentioned that there was one saying which I thought you should get printed and put up behind the bar. "Years, Lover and Glasses of wine are things that should never be counted." Safien promised to have it and placed behind the bar. Go and see if he has kept his word.

I went there last night with a good friend from college and we got a bunch of appetizers instead of entrees. The veggie "chips" were great (most things fried are), the meatballs were savory and better than I expected, the rice and spinach mostly made of spinach and tasty, and the Greek salad a delicious bowl of tomato chunks, feta, and spices. I was not so impressed with the Kellari oregano French fries, nothing special. We got a bottle of Greek Cabernet Sauvignon that was very enjoyable. With the wine and tip the bill was a little over $60 each, not too extravagant for an occasional splurge. I'd like to go there again sometime soon!
Pros: good food, nice atmosphere
Cons: somewhat inconvenient location

There's nothing bad I can say about this place. I only wish it was cheaper so I could go once a week (though I did over the holidays). The food I fantastic, the waitstaff knowledgable and charming. They have the best oysters in the city (forget what you hear about Marlowe & sons). The wine selection is fantastic.
Pros: fish, service
Cons: price
