Average Bar, Awful Bartenders
by Josephine10019
I was intrigued by the other postings, so I decided to check out Barcelona Bar. Given the place is outrageously small and has 3 bartenders, you would think it would be easy to get a drink; however, the bartenders seem caught up in their own little world and often time negate customers. 15 minutes to get a beer in a small bar...really? It's ridiculous.
Do yourselves a favor and check out one of the 5 other bars within a 1 block radius of this place. Bars where you can actually enjoy your beer without worrying about body-checking some poor girl into the wall when you turn around. And bars where people serve you promptly and with a smile on their face. Save your time and money...head elsewhere.
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Terrible service, rude bartenders, very small
Great bar for anytime!

This bar is so much fun! It is a great time whether you go after work, to watch the games or on the weekend! I have gone several times! It has a chill vibe but can get crazy with all the shots that are available! Real sweet bartender and cute too!
- Pros: Creative and original drinks
- Cons: not one
Avg bar makes up with creativity and fun

It all depends when you go. Friday nights bring a packed, cramped house where the bartenders can get overwhelmed while they balance entertaining a crowd that they always seem to know and handling obnoxious clientele desperate to be screamed at for a shot (the rather popular Full Metal Jacket shot requiring two shots of Wild Turkey while wearing a Army helmet and being loudly degraded by the bartender followed by pushups). Drinks still manage to appear quickly (from at least one attentive bartender) and tipping (as with any bar) goes a long way. There are several other nights where it's less packed, tabs magically fluxuate in price, drinks sometimes have to be asked for several times and it seems like borerline-awkward costume night is on Saturday's.
- Pros: Large list of creative shots
Great bartenders

Wonderful bartenders (one who remembered my drink from my first visit a week earlier) and a friendly neighborhood atmosphere.
- Pros: Wonderful bartenters
- Cons: No food
Maybe fun, but not on the weekend.

Sounded great here but when I went on a recent Saturday night, it was completely deserted. It might be fun during the week but I definitely don't recommend it for a weekend. Wish I'd seen a post like this before I went.
- Pros: don't know
- Cons: empty on a saturday night
Good Times (Ain't we lucky we got 'em)

I haven't come across anything else like this in NYC - the shot list is hilarious. Make sure to buy a friend the Monica Lewinsky...
More than 100 shot concoctions from a low-key Hell's Kitchen dive.

In Short
Silver stars dangle throughout narrow, red-walled saloon, perhaps foreshadowing what the local and after-work crowds will be seeing after they throw back the bar's 100-plus different shots. Five plasma screens flash with sports, while a digital jukebox plays everything from '80s hair bands to modern pop. Creative shots, which are typical of the namesake city, run $5 to $7 and include the Harry Potter, a vodka-based blend that's served aflame--like magic.
