Super amazing night!

by Smangela at Citysearch

I took a good friend out for her bachelorette party and I could not be happier. The service was awesome and the food and wine amazing. While the wine list doesn't have a large selection available by the glass, it is enough to be interesting. You can spend upwards of $100 for a bottle of wine but they also have some that are around $20 a bottle. The food portions are great, especially if you want to try multiples to share (which I recommend). Try the quiche!!! All told, this place was amazing and I can't wait to go back!!

  • Pros: amazing food, great selection
  • Cons: it can get crowded

good times for good prices

by eds82 at Citysearch

This has to be arguably one of the best wine bar's around. First off the service is excellent and even on packed nights they will hurry to get you seated. Jadis has a great mix of red and white wines at affordable prices. You can get a good bottle from $22-40. The atmosphere is cozy with dim lighting and surrounded by brick. They play a great mix of music at a sound you can still have a conversation. Every time I go I bring new friends there and they are pleased with the overall experience. Even their cheese platters are good!! This is a place to go to relax, drink and enjoy a good conversation. Highly recommended!!

  • Pros: Atmosphere, Price, Wine and Service
  • Cons: Can get a little packed (but sitll cozy)

Great place for a party

by joiee53 at Citysearch

I threw a birthday party on a Saturday at Jadis. The owners/managers were very accomodating and eager to please, there was a good amount of space and seats for the number of people we had, and the bottles were pretty good (and quite affordable). I would highly recommend this wine bar if you're looking for chill place to hang out with your friends.

  • Pros: Service, affordable bottles of wine, good amount of space (backroom)
  • Cons: LES is kinda far.

Great service and atmosphere!

by jessi45884 at Citysearch

My girlfriends and I have been here a few times and each time it gets better. They always make us feel right at home and the service is amazing. The couches in the back make you feel like you're sitting in your living room with someone serving you. The food is also great! I'm a big wine and cheese person and the cheese plates are always a good choice here! We all live in the Upper East Side, but travel all the way down just to enjoy this place!

  • Pros: comfortable atmosphere, service, food, good prices
  • Cons: none, except its a bit of a hike for me!

Completely enamoured!

by sweettartz at Citysearch

My boyfriend threw a lovely surprise party for me at Jadis Saturday night. What a LOVELY place. I was a bit bummed about my birthday but after a glass of wine and being surrounded by my friends/loved ones...nothing else mattered. The service was SO dead on - food/wine was remarkable. It couldn't have been a better night. Thank you SO much! We'll definitely be back soon!

Que le vin coule a flot...

by geraldbrooklyn at Citysearch

Being one of Jadis' owners I can't rate my business!!! I want to take this occasion to thank you all for the great reviews. One thing I hope is really true concerning Jadis is the absence of "pretention". Unpretentious staff, environment, wines and food. Come as you are to have a relaxing time with us. That's what I'm doing (almost) every night.

But the true reason of my presence here is "vdawwg " critic. I welcome critics since it help us evolve and do better. But reading that Jadis is about "pretentious French people being pretentious" hurts. Not because I'm French (believe me, after 14 years in New York I've become a great critic of my own country and it's citizens) but because I do not believe it is true.

Dear "vdawwg", I was not present when you visited us but if I remember correctly we had a large "american" party booked that evening. I do not believe there could have been many "pretentious" French people at the bar. I am sorry you did not have a good time. Please come again. Let's have a drink together and make fun of the "frogs". The wine will be on me.

Very overrated by the above

by vdawwg at Citysearch

This place really is NOT that great. Has a nice wine list and the music is okay, but it's full of pretentious French people being pretentious. The barman deliberately served 2 people who got to the bar after me, and then sneered at me when I politely asked for some service.

If you like wine, cheese and all things French then check it out. Otherwise, steer well clear - fun cannot be had in this bar!

  • Pros: Extensive wine list
  • Cons: Good luck getting served any of it

Great wine bar!

by ern21 at Citysearch

I highly recommend Jadis. I recently had a private party here w/ 50 of our friends and everything was wonderful. Gerry, one of the owners, and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. The wines are excellent and reasonably priced and the food is delicious--perfect small dishes. In addition, the ambience is cozy and inviting--with couches in the back to sit and chat. We couldn't have picked a more perfect spot.

  • Pros: Wines, Ambience, Service
