One of the best new LES bars!
by bronxladette999
I love going to this place, it's a fun and relaxed atmosphere (though not so much when it's late and starts to get really packed) and the jukebox is freakin great! Bartenders are really nice and the service is great, I usually get served within 30 seconds of arriving at the bar. Drink prices are pretty fair, good deals on draft beers,. and that infamous A s s juice. Not to mention they've got a mechanical b u l l to boot!
- Pros: Great jukebox, friendly bartenders, mechanical b u l l!
- Cons: Gets uncomfortable when filled up, really really tiny bathrooms too.
cheap meat, cheap booze, great pour, killer staff, and no velvet rope

The Double Down is the best new bar in the LES. the Double Down in Vegas has been kickin "arss" (excuse the "r" citysearch wont let us use curse words) and takin names for 14 years, and finally decided to move in on new york. For having been open less than a year, the bar is standing its ground on the ave A beatdown with a lead foot.
By no means is it a rip-off of the original, but simply an extension. I was so excited to see the Vegas pony living happily in its new home in new york, accompanied by some of its old vegas friends: the signature Bacon Martini and savory "Arss" Juice.
The only thing this bar needs is a few good nights where something gets broken 'cause all the drunks fell over laughing so hard. it needs to be worn in a little. the paint is too fresh and the bar is a little too shiney & clean at times.
PS more girls need to start taking off their clothes on the darn pony. cheers, see ya at the pub, rub.
Punk rock style elevated for the trendy East Village.

In Short
The name implies the all-or-nothing ethos of hardcore rockers, but it only goes as far as the facade. Red light spills into a bar where a mural of skulls, vices and graveyards overlooks an old-school punk jukebox and pool table, but hipsters outnumber the tattoo artists 10-to-one. Besides offering tap beers and a full bar, Double Down mixes its own drinks--an "Ass Juice" shot (made from undisclosed ingredients) and bacon martinis whose vodka is distilled on-site.
UGH!

We love the Double Down in Las Vegas and this is a LONG way off! Something is just not right about this version. Perhaps they need some more time but as of now, this place leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
