good

by kateimurray

Food was really good. Roasted Veg. app was soo yummy and a great portion (split it with my date). The place is comfy and cozy withgreat lighting (dim.. not dark). Music was good but too loud which forced the annoying man behind my boyfriend to yell about the latest teen novel he had read... I don't care to hear about mormon authored vampire books while trying to have a peaceful meal!

  • Pros: good food, fast service, great price, comfy environment
  • Cons: Loud talkers in a small space

Amazing! I love it! I bring people there all of the time and turn them into regulars!

Sorry about all of the exclamation marks, but as you know, as New Yorkers we eat out a lot, and I have yet to find a place I've fallen in love with as much as I have Frankies 17. The prices are great, the wine is terrific, the service is wonderful, the scene is just perfect, and the music, oh the music. I love to listen to the Beatles while I'm eating amazing food at my favorite restaurant on the planet. The cured meats are absolutely amazing. The olives are wonderful, as are the string beans, mushrooms, cheeses, breads, olive oil, gnocchi, the lamb on the winter menu. Really, I could go on and on. I sort of drift off into a trance every time I'm there. The chatter is always loud due to the size, so as you sip you wine, eat your food, chat with your friends, and listen to the music, you sort of drift off in to this happy calm. There really isn't an experience that even come close to this in my opinion.

  • Pros: Food, wine, staff, food, food, wine, ambiance
  • Cons: If you get there after 7:00 PM you wind up waiting a while for a table, sometimes an hour, but they'll usually take you cell # and call you when a table is available. Well worth the wait!

Fantastic food and service

by jal32

We arrived on Clinton St. at 11am on Sunday in hopes of eating at Clinton St. Bakery but with the two hour wait there we decided to walk across the street and ended up at Frankies. We lucked out and despite the tiny dining area, they were able to accomodate 6 of us and a baby. They didn't have a highchair but we were able to pull the stroller up to the table. The brunch menu was small, but had good options. Several of us had the french toast which was by far the best french toast any of us had ever had. We also shared several side orders of bacon which was cooked perfectly. One person had the granola with fruit and yogurt and another had the fritatta which she said was great. The staff was friendly and accomodating and we couldn't be more happy that we walked across the street and found Frankies.

  • Pros: Great food and service
  • Cons: Small dining room

Sweet and Lovely

by ca1

With the proliferation of restaurants on Clinton Street it was a welcome surprise to find Frankie's 17 distinguishes itself for food, service, and atmosphere. The pork chop was perfect and the eggplant sandwich is a classic done well. Try the cauliflower - wow. With two crostini, a side, two entrees and a half liter of wine will still went home spending well under $100.

  • Pros: romantic, great service, good wine, reasonable
  • Cons: no reservations

Snack Away!

by macbethnyc

If you love stepping into a cozy space with an old-fashioned warm feel, Frankie's is for you. Sure, it's intimate (love the tin walls), but it works. And the food matches the atmosphere perfectly. We've gone for brunch and for an early dinner and it was delicious both times. Highly suggest the house-made tagliatelle with braised lamb ragu (just melts in your mouth) as well as the roasted beet and avocado balsamic vinegar salad. The crostinis are small so it's fun to try a few and there is a nice selection of cheeses. Perhaps the best part is the reasonable wine list (the house wine is actually quite good as well!)

  • Pros: super cute and cosy, fresh flavors
  • Cons: waiting for a table

Cozy Cozy Cozy

by resaurantguy

I went to Frankies last week and am still thinking about it. What a great little cozy restaurant. The cheese and wine were really good. The Gnocci was a little heavy but had fantastic flavor. But the crostini were awesome! I feel like I have an INO on the east side now but with even more food and an even cozier feel. Nice job guys! Much like many of the other people who have reviewed this new neighborhood restaurant I have to say I will be a new regular there as well.

  • Pros: Well designed thought out space
  • Cons: none

My New Favorite Restaurant

by swanson215

We had to wait a little while for our table - so the bartender gave us a free mini wine tasting! By the time we were seating we knew exactly what we wanted to drink. We couldn't decide what to eat so we got pretty much one of everything (ha ha - maybe not - but we got a lot of stuff) and it was *all* good. Yay.

  • Pros: friendly staff, nice atmosphere, yummy food
  • Cons: crowded, wait for table

Great Food and Service

by kpmaster

This place is great. Everything on the menu that I've tried has been excellent (simple ,clean & fresh). Especially the homeade pastas. The service is good too, friendly, knowledgable and professional. Also, the French Toast served at brunch is some of the best I've had anywhere. I'll be back over and over again.

  • Pros: Well priced extensive wine list & knowledgable staff.
  • Cons: Tight space & busy at peak times.
