I have being getting my hair done at GIGI's fo about a year. GIGI is my hair dresser and he knows what he is doing. Always come out with a great result.
My hair cut its just great and my highlights even better. nice and friendly atmosphere.
Only negative thing: its pricey ...
Great Cut!
by kristamint
I had a great experience at Gigi's today. I went in for a trim on my long, straight hair and got exactly what I wanted. Kat really listened to what I was looking for and even checked in a few times to make sure she understood what I was hoping for. I've come out of other salons with too short bangs and choppy layers. This is the first time I've left a salon with the results I wanted!
KRISTYN THE COLORIST
by Fashionistadoll
So I agree with EVERYTHING most of you have said, the only GREAT thing about this salon was the colorist KRYSTYN! She was amazing, great service and very talented. Only thing, I found out a couple days ago SHES NOT AT GIGIS ANYMORE! I wonder why?! Anyway, I NEED TO FIND HER! Any one have a clue?
Best Place Around, hands down!

Everyone and everything was lovely. I was late (sorry! I google mapped it and they got it wrong...) and you were all so nice and friendly. No stress at all. Great cut and color. Reasonable prices. The professional and friendly atmosphere will make me return over and over again even if I have to travel over the bridge.
Gigi gave me a terrible cut
by csimpson
I haven't had a haircut this bad since my 7th grade perm. I made an appointment online. When I arrived I was told I was getting my haircut by Gigi himself. I told him I wanted 2 inches off the bottom and long layers. He took at least three inches off and cut my bangs and layers super short so that they stick out. The difference in length between the top layer and the bottom gives me a mullet effect. The only way to fix it is to cut it really short to even it out or wear it up all the time until it grows out. The worst part was the way he cut it. He insisted on cutting it dry and "performed" the cut like he was a cross between Edward Scissorhands and Picasso. It seemed a little spiky in the salon but I thought I could fix it when I got home. Instead I just cried.
So unsatisfied I'm writing from the salon chair
by CSMobileUser3
I've been sitting in the hair washing chair for 20 min now waiting for my hair to be washed. My "stylist" just ordered her gyro, and left the assistant to condition my ends cuz they're "so bad". Normally I hate small talk at the hair salon between the stylist and customer but I appreciate it when they try. That's part of the job. Mine didn't even attempt. Instead she swung me around pulled my hair tighter than I'd enjoy and when I reached to put my magazine down, she seemed unamused and pulled me away instead. I am a salon hopper still waiting for a place to settle on in nyc. This will not be it. I'm still waiting for a price on this meh experience but I'm sure any amount will not be worth it. Sincerely girl who's been bored and mistreated for 2 hours and counting.
Monica rocks!!
by astro83
I absolutely love Gigi Salon.Best highlights, best haircuts, friendly atmosphere, good music. Overall I'm a very satisfied customer and look forward to my next appointment! Monica, has been doing my hair for the past several months She is very talented, very confident in her skills and very good at listening to what you want, while giving you new ideas. I would highly recommend her to anyone!!!!
So pissed I'm writing from the salon chair.

This will be worth reading.
So I am so annoyed with the Gigi experience (lacking wine and hand massages as others wrote previously). As a NYC salon hopper, and new Astoria resident, I came here excited about the reviews I read.
Truth is that I've been sitting in the washing hair chair now for about 35 min while my "stylist" (some apparently mute chick with black hair and a death stare) goes between cutting someone else's hair and being concerned about ordering her chicken gyro. She left the assistant who was the only one who lifted a finger for me to condition my "brassy and bad ends" (as mute girl described to my face).
When I sat down initially, I was already worried. Normally I hate small talk at the hair salon but I know it's apart of the job as well as necessary to understanding the client. This girl was quite different where she not only said barely 2 words to me which were toward the end of my foiling, but initially spent only about 10 seconds asking me what I wanted done before she walked away. I thought she just stepped away for a second, and was gonna come back and ask more info on my needs...but no, she then came back 10 min later with mixing bowls. I guess she knew what was best for me and my dry, brassy hair (which I got no tips on how to treat as you would get at even supercuts)
Now I'm waiting here getting more and more impatient, so much so as I've read 2 magazines, texted numorous people on when or when not to tip, and now logged onto citysearch, made an account and wrote this review. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm relating to others who posted about their burnt scalp... pretty sure 45 min is too long for box dye, let alone professional solutions.
After much tugging on my hair with a brush similar to one bought at the bargain stop down the street, by an uninterested stylist... In the end my hair came out meh. I'm a golden blonde with low lights, so it shouldn't be too hard to add golden blonde and lowlights. haha. It looks pretty OK. Not the best it's been, and not exactly what I really wanted but 10 seconds isn't normally enough time to explain that. It ended up being $170 for half head hilights that took an hour and a half, a decent cut, and a decent blow dry/style. As said before I've gotten better at the other places around. Amateur hour. Cuts and style is alright- color and attentiveness, go elsewhere.
