Delicious, Cheap and easily the best Dosa I've had outside of Chennai.

Fiery combination of spices and cooked to perfection. Just delicious and healthy! Added bonus is how friendly and sweet Mr. Kumar is. This is my new favorite cheap-eats spot.
- Pros: tasty, authentic South Indian fare, healthy
Dosa, a chat, a soda, and all under $10!

What a friendly vendor! While you're waiting for your delicious dosa to cook up, the guy cooking them keeps up a steady stream of conversation, and proudly proclaims "100% Vegan!" on his cart. It's refreshing to be able to find such an inexpensive, but ever so tasty reminder of your amma's (mother's) dosas, like she used to make when you'd visit your granny in Chennai.
- Pros: very cheap, fairly fast, tasty
Great food, super cheap, long wait but worth it!

The dosa man has not only great dosas but also samosas and delicious chutneys. The line can be long and he is in no rush, always smiling and chatting. But it's worth the wait.
- Pros: Great food, very nice service, you can call in your order and then pick up
- Cons: slow, long line
These cheap and healthy street snacks rival the city's best indoor Indian eateries.

In Short
Serving up 100 percent vegan fare and a menu that promises a filling meal under $10, Thiru "Dosa Man" Kumar is one of the city's most beloved street vendors. NYU kids and in-the-know foodies line up at this South Indian/Sri Lankan street cart for made-to-order weekday lunches. Dosas, south Indian rice crepes, are filled with potatoes, vegetables, and fragrant spices, and topped with fiery sambar and coconut chutney. They pair well with smaller specialties, like samosas and roti rolls.
