Late night no taste buds only
by mellie3times
I live in the neighborhood so tried it when it first opened. Not very impressive. Overcooked burger, under cooked fries. This is my 3rd time there and although they manage "medium rare", my english muffin was uncooked, and the lettuce consisted of the rib from some romaine and there were more than necessary pickles. There is clearly no quality control. And it obviously appeals to late night cravings of 20 something drinkers in the hood. That is fine after a night out of drinking but if you are looking for a good burger and fries, this is not the place.
Good salmon burger
by maureenuw
This is a small fast-food place but there is room upstairs to eat in if you so desire. It's quite loud upstairs though. The salmon burger is very tasty.
- Pros: Great salmon burger
- Cons: Small quarters and noisy upstairs
Good build a burger but pricey
by jackryan
23 bucks for 2 builda burgers and 2 waters. Little pricey but the burgers are great. They let you toss everything and anything on it and the fries are well done...thank god....only way to eat fries. nothing is free here, it's all al-la-cart. This place would be a good quick dinner or late nite after boozin.
The upstairs has some big booths for big groups which was cool
- Cons: Lil Pricey
It's not In-n-out, but it'll do
by irvinsha
The burgers here are customizable with a bunch of sauces and toppings. Hooray, who doesn't love choice. I wouldn't call these burgers amazing, but they're pretty respectable. The Belgian fries are also pretty good.
No frills, but tons of extras at this burger-lovers' delight, which grills patties into the wee hours.

The Scene
A small, free-standing building houses this spiffed-up burger joint. The color scheme reflects the theme--dark red and white tiling, reminiscent of the marbling found in a good slab of beef. The brightly lit upstairs has a few diner-style tables and, for larger groups, booths covered in cow print.
The Food
Cooked-to-order burgers are customizable with sauces, buns and high-end toppings like Danish Blue cheese, Vermont Cheddar, Piquillo peppers and house-made guacamole. Those used to gigantic patties may consider the 100 percent Hereford burger; slightly puny, but it achieves a perfect bun-to-burger ratio. Bun choices include classic squishy white, wheat or a more-sturdy English muffin (which pairs best with the juicy, herbaceous turkey burger). The salmon burger, though a bit fishy, can be mellowed with tangy yogurt dill sauce and sweet caramelized Vidalia onions. Belgian-style fries come crisp and browned with no need for additional salt.
Zip Trumps the Burger Market
by littlehalo
I just ate at Zip last week and had quite the experience. The classic is well, classic. If you like Burgers prepared perfectly Zip is the place for you. The classic softy bun was grilled on the inside with a touch of butter. Nice and crisp yet still soft on the outside. (this keeps the bun from falling apart and tastes great too) I added a slice of american, some onion, ketchup, and some creamy homemade mayo. The beef was a perect well seasoned medium rare. Sooooo good! Don't forget the authentic Belgian style fries with the mayo. They are the real deal!! Twice fried and super crisp. The tangy mayo is a must with the fries. If you still have room add a shake to the meal. They are made with real fruit extract. I've read a few reviews complaining about the prices. A fresh made to order burger with real home made belgian style fries and a milk shake for about 12 bucks. Hey, it's New York. Any meal at that price is cheap. Deal with it. Trust me, you will be back for more.
Didn't get a chance to eat! Night crew not too bright.

A friend arrived late from a flight from LA and was hungry for a light meal before bed. We popped over to Zip because I had heard good things about it (I work and live 2 blocks away) and they advertise that they are open late. We walked in about 11:45 p.m. and asked if they were still open. We were told they were and placed our order ($25 worth of burgers, fries, drinks), being asked "For here or to go." I said "For here" (I live in a small studio not suitable for eating with guests), the food started coming, we started heading upstairs to the only sit-down dining area and were told that the dining area was closed. Okay, where should we eat? The fellow at the counter (otherwise pleasant) said we could eat downstairs standing up. I told him that was not acceptable but he offered no other choices so we cancelled our order and left for a neighborhood diner. It shouldn't have been too hard for them to let us use a table and 2 chairs for 15 minutes. The owner may not know what is happening at his restaurant late at night.
- Pros: Supposed to have good food, but never got to eat.
- Cons: Staff isn't too bright and loses customers.
Best burger by far.

Given the size of the crowds during the opening week, I was not the only one eager to try my first Zip Burger. The classic burger is far better than anything I could ever grill for myself and I will be going back to try to salmon and turkey burgers soon. No matter what, have the Belgian fries. They alone make it worth the trip.
