Don't go if you're a foreigner with non-US ID!
by aesthete
I've been to this place a few times since it opened (since i live close by), and with each infrequent visit it seems to deteriorate further. ambiance is more college rowdy bar like now than a wine bar, the music was decent when it first opened but now it's pretty awful.
my experience last night was so bad, that i feel compelled to write this review and warn people before their lives are jeopardized. we went wih a friend from germany. the bouncer had never seen a european or german driver's license before, and said the ID was fake. instead of simply refusing entry, he put the ID in his pocket and refused to give it back. there were 4 of us and we kept telling him that A) it was a valid ID, and B) he needed to return it. he refused and started being physically aggressively rude to us, shaking his hands in my face. we asked for the manager who came out and protected his bouncer and backed him. my friend needed his ID so he can drive when back in europe - so it's very important to him. finally we called the police, who took the ID from the bouncer and returned it to my friend.
if we hadn't called the police, the bouncer would have kept the ID. my friend has been using this ID everywhere with no issues. just because the bouncer was ignorant and had never seen a european ID, he had no legal right to take the valid ID and not return it.
- Cons: terrible management
Cool place, poor attitude of management
by psoin
This bar is pretty cool. The wine selection is ok, nothing mind blowing but good. Ambiance is neat and its in a great spot.
The draw is the poor attitude of the manager. Initally he was quite lovely but then I pointed out an honest mistake made by the establishment. This could have been handled by comping one glass of wine for christ's sake and the guy flipped out on us.
I am a very polite global traveler for work and have dined and drank at high end places all over the world. I have never seen a manager get on a power trip like this guy and its a pity me he behaved. I have no reason to make up stories and was very nice to the guy. He obviously is perfect in his mind and can never make an honest mistake and the customer is never right.
His bar will do just fine without us. His customers will too as long as they never tell him something isn't right.
- Pros: Decor, Location, Alright Wine Selection
- Cons: Management
Great Party Spot
by jarther32
My friend had her birthday here last week and it was probably one of the best parties I have been to in a while. We had so much fun in the back room and danced the night away. The music was amazing, the crowd was great, the drinks were strong, and had a cute waitress that couldnt have been better. I definitely plan to throw my party here in May! Great bar!
Best Hidden spot in NYC

I came here last week with a few friends and had a really great time. We went in for 1 after dinner drink and ended up skipping out on another bar we had intended to go to. The place is very cozy and easy to feel comfortable immediately. Good looking crowd and staff where big egos and snotty attitudes are nonexistent. I would highly recommend this place as its my new favorite spot.
- Pros: staff, music, crowd
- Cons: 2 for 1 happy hour ends at 8
Great vibe and music

We took friends from out of town after dinner on Sunday night and we had a great time. The music was great and the crowd was eclectic. Definitely recommend it to others!

- Pros: staff, vibe
One of my favorite bars in NYC.

I've been in the city for 2 years now and found what I consider to be the perfect bar. They play a wide variety of music -- and have a live jazz band on wednesday nights. The wine selection is off the charts (it's a candle-light bar with wine bottles as far up the wall as you can go) and the ambiance is perfect for light conversation or a big night out. Very good date spot, really good spot to meet friends, they have a back lounge area with a private bar when it gets crowded, and the bartenders are incredibly friendly. They open up the front windows in the summer which allows for a cool summer breeze to get you if you're early enough to secure a spot on the leather sofa. Great place and highly recommended.
Great vibe - trendy spot!

We had a great time here last night! After leaving a so called "trendy" spot we did not like, we ended up walking around and finding Ten Degrees accidentally. What a great find. We sat at the bar and merely had beers, but the atmosphere was great, space is nice, and the bartenders had no attitude. Great place to stop in for drinks!
- Pros: Atmosphere, Space
- Cons: Crowded
Lovely place!

Pleasant wines, yummy cheeses, fun staff, fantastic lighting, fun music. It's a very easy and pretty place to go where you can talk and hear your friends. A little later, it turns into a bar, but retains is pleasantries even though you can no longer hear anything.
- Pros: lighting, staff, music
- Cons: normal--really loud past 10pm
