I went here to get a modern haircut without all the frills and I found exactly what I was looking for. They have very professional stylists, great technique, and phenomenal prices. I would definitley reccomend them

Boris and David IS THE BEST STYLIST EVER!!!!

You MUST get your haircut by Boris or David ! Not only is ther the friendliest stylist I've ever had, he's also the BEST! I have people stopping me on the street telling me how cute my haircut is and wondering where I get it cut- that has never happened to me before! I will NEVER get my haircut by anyone else. I feel gorgeous and it's all thanks to Boris & David :)

BEST HAIRCUT AND SERVICE! BORIS YOUR HANDS ARE MAGICAL

I waited a while to write my review because I feel a true mark of a good haircut is how great it looks even after your initial cut. Well it has been a month and let me just say I have not had one bad hair day since I got my tresses cut by the magical hands of BORIS at Exotic hair salon. First of all I must give much admiration to the staff who is so cordial and accommodating,one always is under the impression that a place in the city will be uptight and pretentious,Exotic Hair salon is not that by any means they are all friendly and warm. Now back to my haircut my sister went to this place first and I fell in love with her hair and she too never has a bad hair-day, it's just amazing how her and my hair looks better and better everyday and every time we style it. I had the pleasure of having Boris cut my hair and he is such a doll and a genius, he knew what went with my face and most of all was so excited about cutting my hair and along the way he gave me tips on how to get it looking salon worthy every time I do it at home and believe me I am not the talented team at Exotic Hair Salon but when I do my hair everyone thinks I just got it done. The techniques that Boris uses are ones I have never seen and his attention to the needs of your hair are spot-on. I have very thin hair and the way in which he cut it allows it to look so much more voluminous than it ever has. Mr. David himself even did a double take and took the time out to give me a compliment and that meant the world to me :) I can certainly go on forever about how happy I am with my hair but I urge anyone to please go to this salon for friendly staff, amazing service and more importantly the most rewarding, beautiful, lasting, head-turning, constantly complimented haircut you will ever have! If you are reading this Boris and David adore you !!!

perfect salon to be at

I've been in the city for over 3 years and admittedly have never settled on a stylist after one dramatic disaster at a salon . I don't mind paying for a good cut, but since I moved to the city was just couldn't find a stylist I liked as well as ones I'd gone to on the west coast. I knew that was odd and continued to shop around but couldn't find a stylist who could really give my hair a style not just a cut. I'd usually come out $150-200 poorer and wondered if it was worth it. A friend had recommend Exotic Hair Salon. She came back with the best cut and said, "You won't believe this. I went to this amazing stylist. He sat me down. We talked about what I like about my hair, what product I use, what it usually looks like and how I wish it would look. He then cut it and showed me copel of ways to do it." Who does that? I finally decided a long time later to go to BORIS . I did and had the exact same treatment. And then went above and beyond and spent the time to show me a style that took way more time than the average style, but made me feel like a million bucks- no extra charge. I am still surprised by the whole experience. Love the cut (best I've had in years). Loved the salon. Will definitely go back.

I was having a bad hair year so a friend referred me to DAVID . I needed a hair overhaul after a string of bad experiences with a number of salons in NYC. DAVID gave me a new cut and highlights that changed my life. Beyond just a great cut and highlight, he showed me how to style it perfectly and offered me great tips to manage the cut as it grew back in. . It's rare to find talent like DAVID . He's fun, a great listener and he's equally amazing with scissors as he is with foils and color. If you need an image overhaul like I did or just a simple tidying up, definitely ask for DAVID at EXOTIC HAIR SALON !!!!!!!!!!

BORIS IS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I came to see Boris, I had a horrible cut that was not flattering. I had let it go for 6 months on top of that because I just didn?t want to bother with another disappointing cut. I have mid-length, fine, wavy hair that can look beautiful, but every stylist refused to see the potential. He paid a lot of attention to what I was telling him - how I loved my long hair, and I wanted it back! (two years ago some whack job gave me the worst cut ever and to correct it I had to cut off over a foot of hair. Ever since I haven't found anyone who could help me restore my beautiful long hair) he told me not only was it possible to get my long hair back, but it would be EASY. I had very little damage and he could just tream the bottom to freshen it and leave me with all my length. As far as the horrible and unflattering layers - he said those could easily be tweaked without removing much length. I was skeptical because I have gone to some of the most expensive and recommended salons in NYC and still I was at disaster-level. The new cut flatters my bone structure and my hair type and I can get away with little to no maintenance- exactly what I have been wanting! Every other stylist I have gone to for the past three years has cut my hair however they wanted. They would convince me to try some new ?great? style that would end up looking bad on me and not working with my hair.

An excellent experience in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere

When, several days after a haircut, I can style it and look as good as I did when I left the salon, I consider that the sign of a great haircut. That is what I got at Exotic Hair Salon. When I walked through the door, Boris sat me down for a consultation. He really listened when I told him what I wanted to do (a single process and take off an inch or so) and then suggested some highlights as my hair would have nice color but would look "flat". I don't always go for the highlights because I usually want to get in and out of a salon ASAP. However, aside from the great reviews I had read on Citysearch, I had a gut feeling Boris would do the right thing. I am glad I went with my gut feeling. First of all, the highlights are subtle, so they look natural. And the haircut is unbelievable. As I stated earlier, I can style almost exactly as he had. I also had a manicure and eyebrow threading ( first time for that one) while my hair was processing. I left there feeling like a million bucks and I still do.

Thank you Exotic Hair Salon for having Boris! He is wonderful. He gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I love a longer look, without being boring and long. Boris listened to what I had to say and gave me a wonderful new haircut. It is still long, but so sassy! I feel wonderful about my hair and myself. Everyone at work is gagging over how hot I look. Thanks for that too!!!

My first time here and I will come back!

I moved to NYC from DC a little over a year ago. For the first few months I was here, I traveled back to DC just to get my hair done. (If you're looking for someone in DC, email me... I know JUST the guy!). But that got expensive. So I went to a place on the UES that got pretty good reviews, and was recommended by a friend. I liked the color the first day, but after a month, I already looked like I needed a touch up. The color was too light and I was really unhappy at the flatness of my cut. So I looked for a place in City Search with good reviews, and found Exotic Hair Salon. I booked an appointment with Boris, and went in with low expectations. But I felt immediately at ease. Boris LISTENED to what I wanted. hi took my coloring and preferences into consideration, and I absolutely love the way it turned out. So Boris, thank you. Now instead of having to travel all the way to DC, all I have to do is go around the corner!
