We contacted Start Dancing before traveling to Argentina, so that we could Tango while on our trip. We learned so much that we were able to go out and tango with the locals. We looked forward to our lesson with Erin each week and made some time to practice what we had learned. The whole experience has been terrific, and we have decided to continue with our lessons and learn a few more dances. My husband and I both feel that this is the only way we could learn to dance.

Pros: Thumbs up.

Erin, the owner of Start Dancing came to our Manhattan apartment on a schedule that was--week by week--convenient to us. She is a fun, light and highly personable dance teacher with an incredibly re-assuring and professional manner. She prepped my fiance and I for our "First Dance", teaching us a classic fox trot and saucy salsa in just 8 lessons. We hired her for an additional 2 more b/c we wanted to polish off our moves. For the price, this is a tremendous expereince. She made her presence in our home a delight, and we looked forward to learning new moves from her evey week. She could teach even the most sticky-footed of pedestrians how to dance like Fred & Ginger. Highly recommended!!

I accidentally stumbled on one of Erin's ads on Craig's Listand it's the best happy accident that's ever happened to me. I have been taking ballroom dancing lessons from her for 6 months now, and at this point I don't think I am ever going to stop. Her concept (quality lessons at an affordable price in the privacy of your home) was perfect for me, When I went to a large studio (I've tried several) I was always embarrassed and I never felt that I got enough attention to get better. Her one-on-one method is exactly what I needed. What I particularly like about her approach is that not only is she wonderfully knowledgable about dance techniqueshe also understands the history, the culture, and the overall context of it. As she explains all this, you get how the whole dance world comes together. Her enthusiasm, her optimism, her expertise, and her confidence-inspiring approach all come together to make the 45 minute lessons go by in a flash. And her willingness to plan dance outings for her students (to "Mid-summer Night's Swing" and the 92nd Street Y, for example) are a tremendous help in understanding how to transfer what's learned in lessons to "real dance floor experiences." The progress I am making and the knowledge I am gaining are combining to open up a whole new world to methat's interesting, enlightening, and a bunch of fun! To my best friends this Christmas I am giving gift certificates to Start Dancing!

Pros: An incredibly knowledgable and wonderfully confidence-inspiring teacher—all in your own home!

My fiancee and I decided to take classes with Erin for our upcoming weding. I cannot say enough on how wonderful she has been in preparing us for our wedding. She is friendly, upbeat, and always smiling and is certainly the best dance teacher either of us has had. We cannot reccomend her enough. Get off your asses and start dancing!

Pros: Private, in-home classes, affordable

I wanted to write a quick review for my teacher Erin. She's taught me some basic moves so I won't like a fool at upcoming weddings. The idea of in home dance lessons appealed to me since I live in Brooklyn. I was surprised by how much fun it was. The lessons were fun and upbeat. The best part is I can actually dance a little and have some good tips on how to lead. If you're a guy petrified of dancing then you should definitly check this out.

This was truly amazing! After a lifetime of feeling inhibited by dance floors at weddings and other social functions, my boyfriend gave me dance lessons as a birthday gift. It was the best present I ever received. Erin's expertise, knowledge, patience, and personality made our private dancing tutorials the best part of my week. Her style of teaching the basics, and then embellishing moves with turns and dips gave us the confidence to dance in public, to any kind of song, in a matter of 5 lessons. Not only are we looking forward to our next big event, but we now love dancing on weekends and around the house. Thanks to Start Dancing, we can't stop dancing!

Pros: fun, useful, a great investment

this is something my husband and I have been wanting to do for a long time but because of scheduling were unable to go to a traditional studio. We've been doing it for the last 6 months and its been fantastic!

This was great! We learned our first dance in 4 lessons without having to leave our home. Our guests couldn't believe that how amazing we looked. You should definitely do this if you are getting married.

We were a little apprehensive about taking wedding dance lessons in our home but it ended up being a terrific experience. We both work odd hours so a traditional studio was out of the question. Our teacher was fantastic too - she was fun, upbeat, and very skilled in her explanations and demonstrations. And even though we don't have alot of space it was never a problem. My fiance actually enjoyed the lessons so much we're thinking about signing up for some more lessoms!

Pros: Convenient, Affordable, Fun!
