As a well known magazine editor, I usually don't write on these sites--but this place is such trash I want it out of my neighborhood. I won't even give it the bad press by being in my magazine. The owner is broke and classless, (I've met him several times) and this is clearly shown in the quality of the food, service, and decor. Usually the place has only about 5 people inside, yet I saw the century-old bouncer still trying to reject people. What a joke. The music is not cool, there certainly aren't any celebrities, and everyone is ugly or old or both. There are much better places out there, this is New York. Try SDK, the Box, even Lexington Bar and Books for an actually classy atmosphere. Whatever hype this place has is unjustified, you will see if you actually do waste your time and go.

I experienced the absolute most blatant acts disrespect ever in my lifetime at lollipop. I arrived at 10:30 to a party where I was told by the door person after she went inside to check on things (who actually turned out to be very nice and apologetic about our experience) that I had to wait until the reservation was found. Now this wouldn't seem like such a big deal if 1) some of the party was not inside already and 2)other people were sauntering in and out with no reservation but to just go to the bar. We were told that men had to wear jackets and that was pretty insane because we watched as others past us wearing beat up sneakers and button down shirts only. When we were finally let in we were seated in a cramp space. The music was not that great, although there were a few oldies played. One person from our party was turned away because he had on a hooded t-shirt, meanwhile the NON NEW YORKERS sitting across from us had on not only a hooded shirt but a t-shirt and sneakers and he was smoking inside (I know there is a strict rule about this one in NYC public places). As the last of our group arrived (we were reserved for 20) they found themselves also turned away at the door. At this point we had enough and left , where the rest of the party continued at Pop Burger. On a scale of 1-10 in terms of pretentiousness w/o cause I would give this place a 20.
Pros: NONE
Cons: everything about this place is a CON

Guys, this club on thursday it's the best in town. Amazing crowd, very difficult to get in, is the new Bangalow 8 If you are not in guestlist or have a tables, don't try to come the door is strict and aggressive. But when you're inside everything it's beatiful, models, celebrietes.
Pros: Music, people, ambience, crowd
Cons: Too busy sometimes, the door strict.

this place is horrible. You should go here only if you are celebrating your grandmother from Ohio's birthday. Cuz that's what you'll see - lots of older chicks!

Lollipop is by 100% the best lounge uptown, cool atmosphere, great for a group/night out with friends, conveniently located next to Geisha- which has the most fabulous sushi ever! Dinner at Geisha, Drinks at Lollipop.....your night will be fabulous!

My friends and I had been wanting to check this place out for a while now and we were completely disappointed. First of all the place was empty except for the very rude waitstaff. After having every staff member examine our drivers licences they were taken to another bar to be scanned. My friend and I are both 24 years old, and hadn't even ordered drinks yet. When we asked what was going on we were told we could have our licenses back immediately and leave! The staff acted as if we were crashing their private party. We left without having drinks. With service like this I don't think this place will last to see next fall. So not worth the trip, save your time and money and go somewhere you'll be welcome!
Pros: none
Cons: staff, small space

Went to Lollipop for the 1st time with a group of friends last weekend. This place so so beautiful, chic, and cool. As soon as we arrived, we were seated at the star table, and was treated to VIP service all night. The music is hot, the decor is sensual, and the staff are attentive and fun. Will definitly be going back..probably tonight:)
Pros: music, beautiful space, comfy seats
Cons: small
