Callin all Sports Fans

We found this bar via the net b4 goin out to NY as it`s the new meetin place for NY Man City Supporters Club when games are on. Respect to all those guys who took time off work for the 3pm(8pm gmt )kick off. drank for 2 hours, then went back to work. Staff are hard workin and friendly, they even poured us into a cab at the end of our excessive post match celebrations. Roisin the Irish Bar Tender posing topless with us for some snapshots was the icing on the cake.OK she didn`t, we made that up, but us sad jaded wrinklies can dream. Listen, it was so good, we wanted to go back a couple of days later but forgot the address, ran up an obscene cab fare tryin to find it,but got there eventually, and it was worth every dime.
If we have a tiny criticism, the food we had was poor. Now it could be that the chef was partially sighted, had his hands tied behind his back, and had to prepare the food using only his teeth that day. Either that or he was a West Ham fan, any road up, it wasn`t best ever.
That said, when next in New York, we`d go back, City game or not.
- Pros: They serve alcohol
- Cons: The hard seats played havoc with our haemorroids
Football, beer and a patio
by nolatonyc
I started going to the Mad Hatter a few years ago to watch football on sunday and have not stopped going. The staff is friendly and the food isn't bad either. There is a patio out back that is an oasis in the neighborhood.
- Pros: Staff,
Bar staff are the genuine article's!

Went for happy hour and loved the place. Low key, fun, was willing to change the TV to the games we wanted to watch. Great beer options. Will come back next time I am in area!

Mad Hatter? I'll Say!
by barsaregood
Went Friday after work with my girlfriend and her two super-horny friends, Eliza and Mirabelle. I ordered a Dewar's & Soda, the gals ordered Miller Lites. Our drinks arrived approximately 9 days later. Ok, I'm exagerating, but you get my point. Also, my cocktail had a lime in it, and as any self-respecting bartender knows that putting citrus fruit in such a scotch-whiskey cocktail is the equivalent of garnishing your morning latte with an olive. Also, our waitress had the personality of dead mold and refused to smile or laugh at any of my awful jokes. Anywho, we sat out front on their pseudo-patio. Bad idea. It's on a slant which through my hips off-kilter for the rest of the evening, which I believe is why I later wet myself, though I can not prove this. However, we were fools not to sit out back on the patio which looked lovely and spacious. As for Mad Hatter cuisine, the fried calamari was quite fresh and did not have me on the toilet all night; a win-win dish.
- Pros: fresh calamari
- Cons: watiresses are all ex-cons, i think
Great staff, decent crowd and a back yard!

We go to the Mad Hatter often, it is our local and we love the place. The owners Mike and Johnny are friendly and run a really nice operation. Try the salads, they are fantastic, or the buffalo wrap.
We planned a party here once and it was perfection, everything that we wanted was served graciously, the food was good and hot, and the place well decorated.
- Pros: Nice bar, good guiness, friendly staff and good food
- Cons: None that I can think of!
Friendliest in the Neighborhood
by maxdewinter
My favorite local haunt! The staff is the best in the area: Becky, Laura, Michelle, Tara, Sean...all so nice, so much fun. Can't beat the traditional Irish Breakfast on weekend brunch. Backyard garden and front sidewalk cafe are a blessing in this crazy city. You'll see me hanging out with my furry friend often. (She loves the chicken fingers.) Beers and drink specials are great...Mad Hatter Red Ale is excellent. Best place to watch all the games...several on at a time so you don't miss anything. They'll be glad to put on your selection as well. As the reviews said, the bar is amazing, looks 19th C. What a real pub should look like. The selection of pub / comfort food is just what you'll want. Try Mad Hatter, you'll be back. Tell 'em Anna's papa sent you.
- Pros: all around great time
- Cons: none
Not Your Average Pub
by dtron
I work very close to Mad Hatter and never thought to stop in being that it looked like your typical mail - order run of the mill Irish Pub (no offense, but they all tend to be one in the same). However, after meeting up with some co-workers there on a recent Friday night, I was pleasantly surprised. The bar itself is just gorgeous, the old woodwork, mirrors and tin ceiling, I loved it. There was a pretty decent draft beer selection, and the bartender (I think her name started with a T ) was a very nice, fun, cute gal that kept us entertained throughout the night. And though it was a bit crowded at the bar, we didn't wait for a drink. When we decided to sit at a table for some dinner our waitress kept the good time going, (her name was Shena, if you ever go to Mad Hatter, you'll see what I mean) she knew a lot about the food, she was really fast when getting our food and drinks, and basically just gave us a really good time... in the end we stayed with her for the rest of the night 'cause her "sassiness" made it too much fun to leave (and from a gentlemen's perspective she was super-hot). I will deffinately have no problem returning to mad hatter to drop a buck or two.
- Pros: Hot Waitress, Awesome Bartender, Jukebox, Patio, Food is Better Than Most
- Cons: Can't Say Much
Great Fries, Friendly Staff, Good Neighboorhood Joint
by drouina
Mad Hatter is a great neighboorhood pub...bartender Sean is a doll, and the food is pretty good for bar fare...the fries are outstanding. Great place to watch a game, start the evening, end the evening, or anything in between.
BEST SUNDAY EVER!
by rebeckly
After flying from England on Saturday night, we were raring to go! So on Sunday morning my husband went to meet a friend of his who lived in Gramercy, at the Mad Hatter Saloon to watch the Liverpool match (there is loads of TVs),where they had a few guinness and an irish breakfast! In the afternoon I joined them and so did his wife where we had a couple of drinks and some good pub grub at the bar with the pleasant barmaid. Then we decided to have dinner at the Mad Hatter so we moved into the restaurant area in the back which was lovely, with brick walls and a kind of old meets new feeling. Cozy! We were pleasantly surprised at the menu and at how reasonable it was. I had the lobster ravioli and the rest of the table had steaks, fish and salads! The food was delicious and so were the drinks!!!! We had a really enjoyable time and i know we will be visiting New York again, and definitly The Mad Hatter! Brilliant!!
- Pros: TVs, Food, Friendly Staff, Garden/patio, Drinks, Value!
