Great Place

This is a second time we are coming to Chiar in a month! We were here threeo weeks ago with a bunch of friends, and they loved it so much, they decided to have a party here again - even though they live in NJ! The best part is that not only the food is good and fresh and inexpensive, but also that you can dine separately from the dancing floor and yet go dancing if you want to to the separate area. So, this way you can talk and actually hear each other - unlike most Russian places where it is always too loud. Loved the service too - such courtecy and promptness is a rarity in a Russian place. Very lovely - will come here again. Also pretty inside.

Very Satisfying

I was very satisfied with the food and the service offered at Chinar. The interior is beautiful as well as the aura. The portions I must tell you are very generous and not skimpy like restaurants of the same rank produce on your table. I like sitting in their booths because you get privacy but at the same time you don't miss out on anything happening.

SO cute!

really this is a restaurant that not many people know about on staten island, and more should!. This place is cute, comfy, and friendly. I really like their salads,so delicious, yum. My husband usually tries different things when we go there, and he's a meat kind of guy so he orders a lot of shish kebabs which to me smell delicious (im a newly vegetarian). You should try this place if you don't like it which i dont think you wont you dont come back again. In life try everything once, no?

Great any day, especially weekends!

The place is clean and the interior is beautiful, something you need to see for yourself, so pleasant. The food is very good as well as the portions. The service is friendly and nice. I was there once on a saturday night and all of the sudden the dim background music stopped and loud middle eastern beat took over. The belly dancer came out and captivated the crowd!!! What a show!

Found a new fav restaurant

I went there yesterday and just had to write a review to share my experience. As soon as I came in I was astonished at the decor of the place. There was a fountain in the middle of the dining place with golden trees surrounding it. I sat in a very comfy booth and was served very fast. The food is very good and the portions as well. I also found out that they deliver and have take out. I am most definitely coming back here.

A HIDDEN JEM OF STATEN ISLAND!!!

As soon as you walk in you are immediately amazed at the unique interior of this restaurant! When I came in for dinner with my family on a saturday night there was a very good looking belly dancer swaying her hips to the exotic beats of the music. And that was even before I was seated! The staff is extremely nice and will help you out with any questions. They serve shish kebab, fish, salads, soups...anything!!! And you get more food for the money..a salad is more than enough to feed at LEAST three people.! There is a bar!!! wohoo! Live music where you can dance till your feet are falling off!. All Im saying is that my experience was truly unique and that's why I call Chinar a Jem of Staten Island.

p.s. I found out that they do deliveries and take outs...You can order online! CHINARONTHEISLAND. On the website you can check out the pictures of the place as well but honestly!!! its a place to see

excellent cuisine

We had a private party and it was an amazing experience. The food was very fresh and tasty. Our group was a mix of nationalities-Russians, Greeks, Italians and we all enjoyed it equally. The meat platters are very generous, the menu says the portion is enough for 4 people, in reality, it could feed 6 people, provided that they have not eaten any of the appetizers before. The eastern salad platter is a delight, very flavorful and toothsome, the fried calamari is lightly crisped and the shrimp/mussels in saffron sauce is a delight. The service is very friendly, we have 5 people serving a party of 16. A big surprise was the bar that actually makes mixed drinks, very rare for Russian-owned place where vodka straight up is the drink of the day and night, but my apple martini was really delicious, with a manhattan price tag of 12 bucks per glass. To sum it up, I will be in Staten Island this Sunday for a kid's birthday party and guess where we will go after the party.
