I'm coming back
by AngieG6468
My brother-in-law hosted his wedding reception here in April 09. The atmosphere is nice and laid back, the food is outstanding and their pasta entrees are out of this world, however there was something wrong with the soda they served, had a very acidic taste. Parking is also expensive. Overall it was a great experience and my husband and I plan on hosting our 20th anniversary here.
Something Is Wrong

If you plan on eating a meal on Sinatra Drive in Hoboken, New Jersey, my wife and I would strongly recommend that you NOT choose the 3 Forty Grill but rather choose the Quay's Restaurant & Bar or the Trinity Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge instead!
At 5:33pm on Saturday, May 1, 2010, we walked up to the 3 Forty Grill and requested an outdoor table at the south end of their outdoor eating area to be near our bicycles secured to a tree near there. We were refused seating with the explanation that they were not accepting anyone without a reservation as they already had full reservations for the 5:30pm and 6pm seatings. We observed that their outdoor seating area was only about 10-15% occupied.
My wife and I walked south down Sinatra Drive toward the the Quay's Restaurant & Bar and Trinity Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge and upon reaching the Quay's Restaurant & Bar first, we cautiously asked if we could be seated. We observed that their outdoor seating area was about 50% occupied. Quay's Restaurant & Bar told us that seating us would be no problem and even honored our request to occupy the table at the northern most end of their outdoor seating area where we planned to relocate our bicycles.
I relocated our bicycles about 5:45pm and noted that the outdoor seating area of the 3 Forty Grill was still only about 20% occupied. Upon arriving back at the Quay's Restaurant & Bar, I noted that the next door Trinity Restaurant, Bar, and Lounge's outdoor seating area was also about 50% occupied.
The food and the service at the Quay's Restaurant & Bar was very good and I responded with an 18% tip.
At 7:13pm, after mounting our bicycles back on our car and driving off, we noted that the outdoor seating area at the
was still less than 50% occupied!!!
You interpret the above data for yourself and govern your choice of restaurants on Sinatra Drive in Hoboken, New Jersey, accordingly!
- Pros: Appears Sylist
- Cons: Rude Polices
Great Dinner spot
by Angela2x
This place surprised me with the food quality. I knew of it only as a bar but after having dinner there I now know it is just as good as a restaurant. The food was very good and service was a plus too. We will go back.
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Social Scene
- Cons: can get loud for late dinner
should avoid
by sardij
our couple had been there sometime in spring for celebrating her b-day. food was so-so.
1. expensive parking fee in the bulding where this restaurant located: around $30's for friday evening. It's not Manhattan.
2. bad view through window even though it is located on the riverside of Hudson: there was construction work!
3. annoying waitress. we made payment with coupon but waitress never gave the bill and receipt reflecting promotion coupon. We had to wait 15 minutes for receiving the correct one and signing the credit card slip after requested it.
If possible, just avoid here.
- Pros: location (if no construction work outside)
- Cons: service, parking
The Best In Jersey!

I recently hosted a party for about 80 people at 3 forty grill and it was first class. From the time I first contacted the restaurant until the minute I left, I was treated like royalty. They were so accomodating and the price was worth paying because the food was simply devine. We had a few special requests and all were executed perfectly. The kitchen did an outstanding job with the food and the presentation was great. I highly recommend 3 Forty grill and my guests as well as myself will be repeat customers. Cheers 3 Forty Grill!!!
- Pros: incredible food
- Cons: not
over priced drama-
by domenick78
If you're looking for an over priced view of the smog filled skyline this spot is ideal. That's the only thing this place has going for it.... Our friends had a party booked here last week for 70 + people. We received nothing but drama and lip from an unexperienced manager and her goon doorman. You'd think bringing that kind of business in would cut ya some slack but au contraire my friends. What we received in exchange for spending a few hundred was a push and a shove from a cocky hostess and doorman claiming to work for the law.. (heard that one before!!!!!!!) This place pushes for a pretentious gaudy attitude but realistically it's a few shots shy of being better than Chuckee Cheese.. .....Booo for the horrible treatment and service of 3 Forty Grill. The place is a disaster and lacks professionalism..Don't have your party here. Better off skipping over to the other side of the hudson- CHEERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOM- 6/28/07
Excellent food and service!!!!
by agnes_grace
I highly recommend experiencing 3 Forty Grill. We have been there a couple times in the past few months and feel that it is constantly consistent. From the delicious food to the attentive service. Everytime we entertain guests there they are impressed. Not to mention the most beautiful view in Hoboken!
- Pros: Great lounge area to sit and have a cocktail in before and after your meal.
- Cons: Parking garage a little confusing
Extremely Poor Customer Service
by pollo1022
Nasty, RUDE, and the most unaccomdating customer service I've ever experienced!!!!
Please think twice before going for dinner or trying to host a private event at this location. I was promised a date six months in advance for a rehersal dinner, was in communication with Rest staff throughout this time and patiently waited until new chef came up with new menu to finalize the dinner detials. Three weeks before the event and after I sent out invitations - the nasty, money hungry owner calls and states they can't accomdate my dinner party - Too bad! The owner was so NASTY and didn't even try to accomodate us after I even told him I already sent out invitations to out of town guests.
Trust me I will never patron this rest and/or recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!!
- Pros: NONE - GO NEXT DOOR NICE STAFF
- Cons: HEARTLESS, RUDE CUSTOMER SVC - ESPECIALLY OWNER
