mouth watering burger
by beenthere4real
found this place at random last weekend. Was just looking for a cold drink on a hot day. Drink was good. Wasn't really in the mood for a burger but boy am I glad I ordered one! The Royale with cheese was possibly the best burger I have had in the city - ever.
Waitress was so nice and the services was prompt. Good beer selection. Perfect spot for burger brunch. (try the onion rings)
- Pros: Royale with cheese, service
- Cons: can't really think of any
Eat Here

Best burger in the city...hands down. Skip the Bistro or the Shack and head over here instead. A little out of the way for most but well worth the trek across town, these burgers are perfection on a brioche bun. Two for one happy hour beers from 4 -7 and a great patio outside for when it's nice, friendly staff and an intimate setting - Royale has it all.
- Pros: fantastic burger, friendly service, outdoor seating, happiness on a bun
- Cons: None!
A Beer and a Burger the all-time Classic
by sethbar
Visited Royale last night and was happy with every single thing that they have going on. TV had the baseball game on, bartenders were courteous and efficient, Brooklyn on tap was cold and good. We had burgers and chicken fingers, both were outstanding. The burger comes open faced with lettuce, tomato and pickle, neatly stacked on a bun, and the perfect size burger. Not once does anything fall of the bun. Flavor was great too. The fingers were obviously homemade, not frozen and delicious. The crowd was a mix of people tables of good looking 20 something women, business types blowing off steam, and the typical locals who were at the bar itself, minding their own business. Truly a comfortable place with a great outdoor space, to sit and relax, absolutely would recommend it.
- Pros: service, atmosphere,food
- Cons: none, absolutely zero

Great Burgers, Cheap beer, Outdoor patio
by galspesh444
I have been to Royale a few times recently with my friends and really loved it. Although I have never been there after 12am, it is a great place to sit, chill, eat a hamburger and drink some beer early in the night. The hamburgers are great and the back patio is key...expecially because I am a smoker. I wouldn't suggest it if you want to have a crazy night, but if you are looking to relax, eat good food, and drink...I highly suggest Royale. I will definitely be back again.
- Pros: HAMBURGERS, Outdoor space, cheap beer
Good Burgers, but that's it.

The burgers here are good and actually cooked to your specifications. The fries are large cut steak fries which are okay. Don't order the turkey club. They only give you a tiny sliver of turkey for some reason. Weird, since, you know, turkey is a pretty big ingredient in a turkey club.
The waitress on weekdays can't remember a single thing to save her life. I've been there five times, and every time she has gotten our order wrong. She should start writing orders down. She'll come from the kitchen with arms full of food, stop, look around at all the tables completely unsure of what table the food is going to, then will retreat back to the kitchen to try to remember. One time, ten minutes after we ordered, she hadn't brought our drinks yet, but came by and asked us what our orders for food and drink were because she completely forgot.
- Pros: good burgers, good atmosphere.
- Cons: horrible service.
Best burger in town

I've just discovered Royale. It's new in the hood, but it has the best burgers I've ever eaten. I am a burger nut and I've had one in every place in nyc noted for burgers. By far this is one of the best. Loved the fries. Big steak fries seasoned and done to perfection. We were there on a warm night and got to enjoy the garden. Nothing like a hamburger and a beer on a beautifull night. And, I couldn't believe how inexpensive everything was. We ate and drank our selves silly and spent under $40.00. Try it you'll love it.
- Pros: great atmosphere, great fresh food and outdoor space
- Cons: couldn'
Favorite Neighborhood Bar!
by erhamm
It's finally nice to find a bar where they really do know your name. Great food, inexpensive drinks, and fantastic bartenders makes this a great bar after work, or to spend your entire night at. Nice job on the jukebox!
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Service
A neighborhood bar with the city's best-named burger.
by Katie Heffernan
In Short
What this Alphabet City bar lacks in originality, it makes up for in comfort and simplicity. Every touch takes the tried-and-true route, from the dim lights and dark wood to the taps spouting Guinness and Blue Moon. The neighborhood's yuppies are compelled to put their pretensions aside--for the only things this laid-back bar could get snooty about are its heralded hamburger (one "Royale with Cheese") and a back patio with breathing room.
