I was really sick for 36 hours after eating here, then to discover that they were cited by the dept of public health two weeks ago! Dec 11, 2009. Apparently making sure their employees know and follow health guidlines isn't a priority....the food didn't even taste that good...to start with
- Cons: poisoning

One of Midtown's Worst Restaurants
by Griffin747
It is difficult to recount the many issues that have arisen on two visits to Ted's, which I wanted to like. Our offices are nearby, and who doesn't like Ted Turner? So it is sad to report that unless you are seeking pricey dry burgers, you'll be sorely disappointed by the food and, if you complain, the managers. Try this place on your own or with co-workers, but don't make my mistake and take someone you hope to impress or with whom you wish to do business.
- Pros: Beverages -- Hard to screw up
- Cons: Food, Managers
Excellent bison filet!
by scarlett7477
I took my dad, a carnivore through and through, to dinner here last night. Everything we had was terrific. I started with the wedge salad and he had the chopped, then we both had s bison filet with baked potato, and shared buttered carrots, roasted asparagus, and the salt and pepper onion rings. Having never eaten bison before I was initially skeptical, but it was absolutely delicious and I loved every bite. The atmosphere is cozy with good music, and very comfortable.
- Pros: Everything was delicious
- Cons: None
Excellent food great service!
by RicardWagner
This place is an absolute oasis in the wonderful madness that is Midtown Manhattan. After the usually stressful workday I took my family out for a quick bite, since we were in the area Ted's seemed a good choice.
How wrong, it was fabulous from beginning to end! A great selection of beers to choose from, my Delmonico Bison steak was cooked to perfection. My wife had a chicken dish and the kids; one a Bison burger and the other a salad. All the food was timed perfectly the servers were attentive but not intrusive. I hate when the servers are nowhere to be found or worse when they seem to be at your table throughout the meal. I made it a point to compliment Mr Barber on my way out. To my surprise my Son pulled up reviews on my Blackberry when we were seated, our experience surpassed my expectation based on these. I highly recommend Ted's.
- Pros: Service Bar Food
- Cons: Parking
Undercooked Chicken and Terrible Manager
by Caity8
Went today to Ted's for my friends birthday. We frequent the place as we work in the law firm across the street. Usually we get friendly and prompt service at the bar, but we were a larger group so we got a table. Three of us ordered chicken tenders. Two of the three plates were completely different than what we usually get (darker, hand battered chicken pieces). We asked our waiter what the difference was and he said that there was none even though they looked blatantly different than the third plate. He sent over the manager who said he would send out two new plates of chicken tenders. When those arrived we discovered that the chicken from each of the three plates was severly undercooked. The insides were pink and cold. Not sure how much uncooked chicken we had consumed we asked to see the manager again. He was completely blase, barely apologized. He offered to send us new food ("maybe a chicken sandwich") but nobody had any appetite. There was no offer for free drinks or anything by the manager and even worse, there was no real apology. We had to keep asking to find out if the frozen tenders were precooked or not since the manager's "um, I think so" wasn't very comforting. Finally the waiter checked for us. He also offered us free cookies or dessert - he was the only semi-reasonable person in this debacle. We even had to request to get all the tenders orders off the check as it initially came with only one order removed. I would not return here. The staff at Ted's Montana Grill doesn't care about the happiness, or evidently, the health of their patrons.
- Pros: Proximity to Rockefeller Center
- Cons: Service, food, price
OK Burger
by KhaliKhai
Tried the Bison Burger. Ordered for medium but got well done. Taste was OK. Not worth $15. Ambience was good.
- Pros: Ambience
- Cons: Food was average. Expensive
Families and large groups feast on hearty cuts and comfort food at this Rocky-Mountain style steakhouse.

In Short
Lots of mahogany, tin ceilings, metal crown molding and Arts and Crafts-style décor prevail at this casual, comfortable saloon, part of media mogul Ted Turner's domain. Beef and bison are king, and they're hand-cut on site. Other bites include beer-can chicken, bison prime rib and cedar planked salmon. For dessert, there's home-made cookies, Kahlua fudge brownies, Coke floats and strawberry shortcake.
Ok Buffalo Burger
by crazyman29
The burger is ok. Nothing special, but I expected more from a $15 dish. However, the ambiance is relaxing and there is little pretense. Good place to check out at least once.
- Pros: Good relaxing ambiance.
- Cons: A little expensive for burgers.
Very good value for NYC, GREAT SERVICE!
by zsach
On 6/21/08 we celebrated our 37 anniversary.
We had read all the reviews, and were NOT going to try Ted's.
Although since it's opening I had wanted to give it a try.
After our show we decided to give it a try anyway.
We are glad we did.
Felicia, our server was great. All the personnel were very nice.
My 11oz Kansas City BISON Strip was good value and came out just great and tasted great.
My wife's Big Sky Cobb was just as expected with all the details
NOTHING was missing.
The cole slaw was very unusual and very good.
My salad came out with a chilled fork and plate which made the
salad that much better. The biscuits were great.
We would definitely go back again.
I am glad that I didn't listen to all the reviews, because, getting a
good meal in NYC for the prices that Ted's charged was
excellent.
As a side note, the next time my wife will have the Bison short
ribs which also looked great.
Happy Eating.
- Cons: none
