User Reviews for Club H Fitness

I have been a member at this Club H gym for a few months. Club H fitness programs are awesome. The gym is the perfect place to workout. I love running on the treadmills, and using all of the different cardio machines. This gym is gorgeous. The gym employees are really nice and always accomodating to me. I have been to many gyms in the past and this place is my favorite workout experience yet.

Pros: gorgeous gym facility

Cons: none

Other than paying more than I would have liked for a gym membership ($115/month), I was perfectly content with Club H - it's located right next to my apt., never crowded, has TVs on all of the cardio machines - until I tried to cancel my membership. When I signed up 9 months before, I knew I would be moving to California within the year. My roommate and I both made agreements with Club H that if we moved more than 8 blocks away, we could cancel our membership. They did not honor this at all. I'm moving, and yet they're still making me pay because my name is not on the lease (moving into my boyfriend's house) and I'm a freelance writer so I don't have a letter from HR saying I'm moving out to California for a job. In essence, I am a bit livid and would NOT recommend this club to anyone anytime. Also, the last few times I was there, I timed my cardio workout to end right at 11pm, when they closed. At 10:50, the staff tries to make me leave and eventually kicks me off the equipment at 10:55. The hours say until 11pm, which I take to mean I can be on the equipment until then. I was not appreciative of the customer service.

Pros: TVs, few people

Cons: staff is rude, they don't honor commitments, hours aren't very reasonable

The facility is beautiful. It's so nice NOT to be in the basement of a building while working out. The gym floor has an entire wall of windows facing south above street level. Yes, the equipment is new, but there just isn't enough. Some very key pieces are missing. If you're a serious lifter or body builder, this probably isn't the place for you. Apparently, getting more equipment is a long, involved process. I've been hoping and asking for a decline bench press for 6 months now. Kind of disappointing. On the other hand, the staff is very nice, the gym floor and locker rooms are nicely kept, and the location is easy for the hell's kitchen neighborhood.

it was much nicer than i expected. the locker rooms are great. lots of space and really clean. i enjoy my workout. i like the layout and feel of the gym. at other gyms i use to feel like i was either being watched or surrounded by idiots. so far, my experience has been great. since i never heard of the gym before i wasn't sure what to expect, but i was pleasantly surprised. they also have a nice cafe/lounge which you don't find at a lot of gyms.

Pros: not crowed, clean, looks cool

Those first "reviews" are totally dubious, given that the gym did not even open until December '06. The writers barely attempt to conceal their posting as advertisements, poor grammar in one of them notwithstanding. That said, Club H is a nice, boutique gym. It has no uncommon amenities (for example, no pool, basketball, or spa); but it is new (still clean) and reasonably priced, falling mid-range between Gold's Gym and Equinox in the neighborhood. It's smaller than most of the other gyms in the area that I've visited. The staff are friendly.

Pros: nicely designed; new, clean equipment and locker room

Cons: nothing exceptional about the gym or its offerings

Club H is amazing. I do not even live near by and still joined, to say the least I hate going anywhere further then a walk from my apartment. The equipment alone is the newest, CLEANEST (obvious important to me since gym's actually breed there own bacteria), and most advanced. It has everything you could ever imagine. The locker rooms contain showers that put NYC prestige hotel showers to shame. The yoga studio and fitness class room are spacious. The numberous amount of cardio machines already tells me there will be no waiting for the fat old sweaty guy to finish his 3 hour 3 mile walk, not to be snotty, but I hate when I want to do 30 minutes of cardio after a light weight day and there is some one on it for an extended period of time at NYSC. To top it all off the no start up fee for its grand opening and a monthly fee lower then the crowded NYSC and Equinox in the area it was a no brainer. If you haven't checked out the club yet, i would suggest you do. however at the same time i hope you not too many of you join i want to have all the things that make it so sweet for myself.

Pros: Reasonable monthly fee, best equipment, friendly staff, big and not in a basement, good hours

Cons: n/a

Saw the signs that Club H is opening in Hells Kitchen. Really excited, as this is " The Health Club" in Hoboken - which I personally used. Now they are coming to the west side. The idea of working out on brand new, never used equipment won me over.

Pros: Brand New, Location, Reputation

Cons: No Club H Spa, only one in Manhattan ( for now)
