GREAT Beer. EXCELLENT bartender.

by maggee

NEIL! Three of us came here on a very early sunday afternoon and Neil was our bartender. He was a WEALTH of beer info. He let us sample a few things and the selection was excellent. We had such a great time here- and i would saw it had a lot to do with the service!!

best cuban sandwich and best argentine wine!!

by metro_gal

I never thought I would eat dinner at a bar ...but their food is glorious! the sloppy joes...the cheese, nut and fruit platter..and of course my favorite the cuban sandwich!! I even love the espresso! Matt, one of the partners that also serves, is so attentive and knowledgeable on wines and beers...and he has great taste in music. check it out, you will not be disappointed! I can't get enough! Yum!

Great place to chill

by starsalign4

This is a very nice bar. They only serve beer and wine but it is a great selection. Justin and Matthew are the nicest bartenders and they make everyone feel at home here. It is a great place if you want to leave behind the college type crowd at other bars and just want to sit and enjoy some beer and wine with some friends. The food is great too!

  • Pros: Ambience, beer and wine menu

I love this place!! Any menu that has BLUE BALS is OK by me!

by club5a

This is the best place in new york! Apart from Matthew being a total babe and sweetheart, the bar is downtown but out of the way and the tapas are phenomenal. I drag all of my girlfriends here and they love it. The menu is hilarious, the drink descriptions make me laugh, and the crows is hot.

Trust me, there are choice men here. And the women who flock here are stunning (my crowd especially!).

  • Pros: Hilarious menu descriptions, and good food
  • Cons: Sad when people only come for the cheap PBR, they should try the phonomenal wine selection

Great place to hang out, easy going, great crowd

by fieryprincess

I never reveiwed a place before but was so taken by this one, I felt it moved to write about it. I strolled in on Saturday night, just to check it out. The music was refreshing; a loving mix of old and new rock. The bar keeps were knowledgable and attentive. The crowd was friendly, grown up, and open. Over all, I loved it, and am looking forward to the next time I can stop in. They serve an excellent selection of wines. a diverse selection of beers, and light "bar food" that I didn't have a chance to check out.

A great place to have a relaxing evening with friends

by gwinny

This bar is the answer for anyone who's tired of competing with overly-loud music and shrieking NYU undergrads. Not to say that the place isn't raucous in its own way: the crowd just tends to be more laid-back than your average bargoer (read: out of towners who think being obnoxiously loud means you are just having that much more fun than everyone else).

So: definitely a neighborhood vibe and a good place to have a few beers with friends. The bartenders, Matt and Justin, seem open to large groups and will reserve a section of the bar for you if you call ahead.

  • Pros: Good food and beverages, warm atmosphere, no tourists
  • Cons: Slightly off the beaten path

One of the few places in the LES that aren't "so over"

by farklefish

Love it!

The atmosphere is really chill, which is (sadly) becoming a novelty in the Lower East Side. Justin and Matt are super barkeeps, the music's always good and the beer/wine list is great!

Only hitch is they don't have booze, but since it's a relatively new place, I imagine that they'd get a liquor license eventually.

Like a rocker that grew up--classy on the outside, but still wild at heart.

by Katie Heffernan

In Short
It may be named after a tower of thundering guitar amps, but the wattage at this neighborhood watering hole comes in low with just a few dim lamps and an old-school jukebox. Pretty hipsters with steady jobs match the surroundings: shabby-chic paint-striped walls, white tin ceilings and a long, dark wood bar. But amid its refinery, this bar's got a rebellious streak--Zappa's playing in the background, and the best bottle in the house is the Guns N' Roses-immortalized wine swill, Night Train.
