Great New Stylist - Janaan

by cvinal at Citysearch

The stylist I have known for years has just moved here from Mudhoney. She is fantastic and I will follow her wherever she goes. She has got me through 2 major changes in style. She is professional, creative, and endlessly optimistic. I also come away feeling restored. The salon was calm, efficient and had great music.

Attitude problem

by roany24 at Citysearch

I had been to Ave B for Brazilian Keratine about a year ago. Experience was okay. I decided to go back to them this year for the same treatment. My appointment was at 6:30 pm. I live and work in NJ about 35 miles away from them. Drive all the way there and happened to run into a slow down at the Holland tunnel which made me late. I called them at 6:40 pm to apologize for my lateness and inform them that I will be there soon. I was basically told that they can't take me because the woman who will do my hair has been there since 11 am and doesn't want to stay until midnight to do my hair. I was shocked because my hair only took 2.5 hours last time I did the treatment and that they would make such a big deal about 20 minutes eventhough I told her I drove all the way in from New Jersey. If the working hours were too long for the stylist, they should have never given me an appointment for 6:30. What a messed up place. They need some lessons in customer service.

Best Rock & Roll Salon Ever!!

by ccoste at Citysearch

I went to Shampoo for the 2nd time a couple of weeks ago and I am not disappointed that I decided to go back. Harley did both my cut and color and he is truly an artist. He takes his time and walks you through everything he is going to do for you.

The other stylists are also very nice and based on the work that I was able to see them perform they are amazing as well. I would love to try Domini the next time I am there, she truly has a rock & roll vibe going.

Thanks for making me feel awesome!

  • Pros: Attentive, warm staff & great prices.

Jenny changed my life

by WaspygirlNyc at Citysearch

My boyfriend went into shampoo to get a cut (that he really needed) and came home looking F-ing HOT! I had never seen such a detailed haircut on a man. It had tons of texture and it still looks good. It looks especially good after we have quality time ;-)

But, it also looks amazing when he's all clean and groomed for work. Jenny gave my man an awesome cut and I can't wait to come in and get mine.

Thanks Jenny!

My new favorite salon

by SaraRN at Citysearch

I found the salon through citysearch and I was by far satisfied with the result. I made an appointment with Melissa who is very professional, kind, and will listen to what you want. She did an amazing job cutting my hair, it looked awesome! She used a straight razor in combination with shears which I have not seen before. Hands down the best salon in the area.

Great one to try

by charve at Citysearch

The first salon I tried in New York and was really pleased with the results, I like the option of doing something abit different with my hair so wanted to try these guys.

Harley did my hair and really I just wanted to make sure for my first time there that he understood my hair and cut how I asked. I have thick curly hair that's quite short so the layers need to be perfect. He did everything that asked, so i'll be going back for a cut and colour next time.

Ultimately its the cut the matters and it was good, but he didn't dry my hair very well, maybe that's a curly hair thing- its always better when you do it yourself.

Also..is it just me?- but i like to be offered a cup of coffee or tea and i didnt get one :-(

  • Pros: cheap wednesdays
  • Cons: they got my appointment time wrong

All Good

by Moe68 at Citysearch

The first time I went to Shampoo I originally went for a cut with Harley, but my old colorist messed up my color and my roots were a bright red. I asked if they could correct that. I walked out with a fabulous cut and a beautiful chestnut brown color. I have gone back several times and have used Daniel and Domini as well as Harley. They are all amazing. You can't get a bad cut or color in this place. The staff is warm and welcoming and they really listen. I should mention that I have curly hair and they really know how to cut curls. Go and Enjoy!

  • Pros: Staff, Atmosphere
  • Cons: Sometimes the smell from the Brazilian Treatments gets a bit much

Absolute BEST Rock-n-Roll salon in Manhattan!

by indierockgirl78 at Citysearch

This salon is super cool, unassuming, and comfortable. I took the F to second ave, and just walked from there. It's in the east village which is cool cuz you don't have to travel to a neighborhood you would never go to just for your haircut. My stylist Melissa really knew what she was

doing and paid alot of attention to detail while cutting my hair. The finished product was absolutely gorgeous. I could definitely maintain this look at home as well, it just went into place, because it was cut so well.

Everyone is saw there left looking GREAT. Also, really reasonable prices for haircuts! If you want to look young, hot, modern, and rock, this is your place!!!

  • Pros: Really reasonable prices for superior work!
