Great restaurant. Good Service, we had brunch only and the brioche toast is fantastic. Will go again. We dropped in early so no reservation was needed, but it did get crowded later on.
- Pros: Service, Food
- Cons: none so far
I aspire to eat at least 3 meals a week here

There isn't an item on the menu that I haven't tried and there isn't an item on the menu that I haven't enjoyed. Great off the beaten path place to have a breakfast meeting.
- Pros: Everythign on the Menu
- Cons: They can get busy at brunch and Thursday dinner

Wow, I've lived in new York for ten years and I've never encountered such a rude and unaccommodating door host in all my time here! She was snappy and dismissive and then placed three of us on a table for two, so we spent the entire brunch bumping knees. Definitely not worth the cost of the avergage food. Try somewhere else in the West Village for brunch instead...
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Rude door girl (blonde, long hair, avoid), too expensive, small tables

The food and service here is well worth the amount of money you spend - and it is pricey. I was worried that I would be disappointed after spending so much on a meal, but I left having probably the most amazing dining experience I've ever had.
The service was great, the atmosphere was comfortable and not pretentious at all, and they were very accommodating. I will definitely be searching for any occassion to make it back here for another experience.
My Favorite Restaurant in NY!

I took my husband for his birthday to Cafe Cluny and we had such an amazing meal - the restaurant is not only romantic and set in such a beautiful part of the W. Village, but the food is also unbelievably delicious. Matt, the maitre'd, made sure we were seated at a good table and came over to us at the end to make sure everything was 100%. Between the ambiance, the food, the location & the menu choices, you cannot go wrong at Cafe Cluny. We will be back very soon!
You must try this place

I really enjoyed my experience at Cafe Cluny last night for multiple reasons. I love the locate, West 12th is such a charming street. I think the interior is really cozy. The waiters and bartenders were very attentive and lastly, the food was excellent and fresh. I would highly recommend making reservations because even on a Tuesday night we had to wait 25 minutes for our seat. Not that I minded because they have a great bar while you wait. I wouldn't recommend this place for quiet conversation, because it's crowded and noisy, but at the same time, if you don't mind those things, it's still a great place to go with someone to catch up. Try the scallop and pancetta appetizer... actually, just try everything.
- Pros: Delicious, cozy, great location, service
- Cons: Can be a bit of a wait, crowded

I have eaten at cluny several times.
Their food is very good. A bit pricey but well worth it. The service is very efficient yet maybe a bit uptight...
The steak with fries is great and the broiled chicken is made to perfection..
Go early or make reservations.

Cafe Cluny is now my favorite restaurant in NYC. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and nothing could have been better. He even said it was a "home run." I took them a cheesecake from a bakery to give him for dessert, they didn't even charge me the plating fee, and EVERY SINGLE staffer wished my boyfriend a happy birthday...even before the cake came out. The service was incredible, and the food was even better. He had the chicken, and it was the most tender and delicious chicken I have perhaps ever tasted. I had the duck confit (the special) and outside of Peking-style duck it was the best duck, hands down, that I have ever eaten. The skin was crispy and delicious and the meat was tender and juicy, not tough and dry. We have both vowed to make Cafe Cluny our new "regular" haunt. We were also so glad that the portions were smaller...normal sized food instead of a trough. We left Cafe Cluny perfectly sated and not over-stuffed. Best place I've eaten this year.
Great Steak Frites, Wonderful service

i stopped into Cafe Cluny on a whim the other night in hopes that I could secure a table without a reservation. Unfortunately there was a 30 min wait but it was definitely worth it. This was the 2nd time I'd been there for dinner and like the 1st time, the food was incredible. The scallop app is perfect and the lobster ravioli app special was heaven. We opted for the steak frite and the cod as entrees and they were equally as delicious. The steak was cooked just right and had just the right amount of charred flavor. the cod fish was light yet the polenta and tomatoes on which it was served gave it depth, a nice touch. the waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and wines, and service was attentive without being overbearing. The portions are smaller than compared to most restaurants, however by the end of the meal I was perfectly sated, not stuffed, but definitely not hungry for more; lets just say there was no room for dessert. I will most certainly go back to Cafe Cluny; I hope to make it a regular on my list of favorites.
- Pros: food, service, ambience
Ridiculous rude chef and waitstaff

I went to Cafe Cluny recently with two friends, and had such terrible service, that I am inspired to write my first official review on citysearch. First, my friend and I ordered a cheese plate, which came with three small pieces of bread - when we asked for more, the waiter told us the chef wanted to charge us for more bread. Which isn't done, anywhere, and I've been everywhere. Then he offered us rolls for free. Yeah, like I want to eat my humboldt fog and french goat cheese with a hot dog bun, you tool. He was not in the least bit apologetic, and seemed amused by how shocked and annoyed we were by this policy. Then, he brought me red wine when I had been drinking and had ordered white, didn't apologize for that either, and charged me for it.
Are you kidding me? In New York, I can't walk 5 inches without finding a fantastic restaurant with cheese galore and enough bread to actually eat it. I will never ever again grace that shlockhole with my fabulousness. Get stuffed, pretentious pseudo fashionable, predictably lit and decorated little crapshack.
- Pros: Leaving
- Cons: Bitchy waiters who secretly want you to die
