Not the best variety
by lindsayalix
I thought Kee's was lacking a solid variety of chocolates and desserts. I still think Chocolate Bar has the best chocolate desserts in the city... try their new location in the West Village... its absolutely amazing!

Very Nice Owner, Delicious Chocolates
by lovely26
I'm not sure what all the other reviews are talking about it. This was my first time at Kee's and the owner seemed just fine. Maybe a little shy, a touch persnickety, but definitely not rude. I was buying these chocolates as a gift for someone and she was more than happy to help me pick out flavors that would go well together and suit my friend's tastes. She was very attentive and made sure to ask what ingredients my friend is allergic to. I also bought some chocolates for myself and I didn't feel that they tasted the same at all. I was immediately able to pick out the main ingredient for each piece. And all the pieces were smooth and creamy. I was also surprised that one of the reviews mentioned Jacques Torres as a great place....that seems like a generic place to go for someone who claims to spend several hundred euros on chocolate. You may as well go to Dylan's Candy Bar and call it great chocolate.
As for the macaroons, the flavor combination of the macaroons was really delicious (i had the rosewater lychee and kaffir lime), but they did fall apart as the other reviewer said. However, there are many varieties of macaroons and traditional macaroons are related to meringues and so they are generally light and crumbly. I'm pretty sure these are the type of macaroons that Kee's makes. So if you're looking for chewy and dense coconut macaroons then this is not the place to go. But if you're looking for traditionally made macaroons (and great chocolates) with unique flavors, then definitely check out Kee's.
- Pros: Humbling interior, nice owner, delicious chocolates and macaroons
- Cons: A little pricey
Lacking

The chocolate is ok and therefore cannot bring myself to give it a terrible rating. The service is not good, the owner is so dry and unpleasant; only interested in leaving the premises as soon as possible in order to avoid any sort of conversation. Besides which, my truffle was coated in the worst possible untempered chocolate ever. You just shouldn't allow bloomed chocolate to go out for sale, period!
Some Kee's just dont fit the locks!

Horrible, both times. This average Soho boutique store seems appealing at first glance with a unique assortment of chocolates that look delicious. Looks can be deceiving however. All the chocolates are mediocre at best, over priced and taste exactly the same. At closer glance the decorations are amateur and not far off from what you can get at the local deli! The owner is rude and often too busy to offer assistance although the girl that takes the orders is very nice. Avoid at all costs. Just because its in Soho doesn't mean its unique or good!
- Pros: Location
- Cons: Terrible Chocolate, Rude Owner, Bad Hours
All the chocolates taste the same

Avoid. If you want real, tasty, dark chocolate - go to somewhere like Jacques Torres which is about the best you will get in NYC. The NY Times magazine review that put this at the top of their list was completely off. EVERY SINGLE piece of chocolate tastes the same. What a waste of $25.
I have to admit I am a bit of a chocolate snob, as my friend owns one of the premier dessert shops in eastern France and I spend hundreds of euros every time I visit (and my friends beg him to start a mail order business). Kee's is over-sweetened and doesn't begin to compare. Oh and their macaroons fall to pieces even before they enter your mouth, no chewiness at all.

Soho chocolate boutique has won worldwide acclaim for its bon-bons and hand-rolled confections, made using fresh, imported ingredients.
