Considering many of these reviews, I guess I must've been lucky.

I was having a drink with a lovely fella' and he brought up the Waverly Inn (I had never heard of it). He told me he had heard there was no phone number listed and it was impossible to get a reservation, but he simply walked in one day in the afternoon and asked about a reservation. He said whomever took care of the reservation was just dandy. Whatever the case, after our drink we were off to the Waverly Inn. Very cozy on the inside. Despite having a reservation, we were told to hang back for a few minutes. It was more than a few minutes, but we were enjoying the conversation so it wasn't much of a bother. The hostess was quite nice and reassuring. There was another very well-dressed older fella' there (the manager?) and he was quite formal (both in attire and attitude...I was fine with it. It's a business afterall). I don't know who the owner is (in terms of physical appearance) so I'm not sure if we ever saw him. In any respect, we were seated about 15-20 minutes after we walked in and our server - Len - was very attentive. The bread looked good, but I wasn't that interested in it (not usually interested in bread at most places). I had the salmon tartar with horseradish and creme fraiche and my fella' had a simple frisee salad. The tartar was lovely and the salad was simple and refreshing. For the main course, I had a trout or something served on a wood plank and my fella' had the Dover sole. Both were quite lovely. I liked the Dover sole more b/c it was a "meatier" fish and I tend to favour these types of fish anyway. We also split a bottle of wine, but I forget what it was called. i DO remember that I had suggested pinot noir and Len convinced my fella' to choose something else. I was miffed for about 3 seconds. For dessert we had the chevre goat cheesecake. That was yummy. Not too sweet at all. We also had the pleasure of seeing Hilary Swank...she's gorgeous in person. In all, a nice experience.

Pros: Lovely atmosphere and tasty food.

Cons: A bit of a wait.
