Completely Disgusting

by LOveLines1

I use to go the The Box a lot in the past and unfortunately the show has completely gone down the drain. Not at all entertaining but now repulsing. They are completely going for shock value and its frankly just disgusting. My service was horrible to say the least and it was just poorly run from the moment we walked through the door. I do not recommend going there on a full stomach or if you want to get lucky that night.

  • Pros: The decor.
  • Cons: Everthing else you can think of.

A little Bit Of Everthing

by njmikey

I was taken to the box by a trio of strippers that my wife and I met on a dinner cruse to see the fourth of july fireworks. We did not know that they were strippers at the time. They were really into my wife and really really hot, so we ran with it. The one girl who was familiar with the place talked to the door man. she then told me that we could get in and get a good table if I gave the door man $400. No problem. Also, there would be a 2 bottle minimum. No problem. The table was great! Right next to the stage. The crowd was great; midgets in leather ,hermaphrodites... you name it. The show was great.... midgets in leather, hermaphrodites, acrobats. All great fun. Then I got the bill for the three bottles of champagne....$3000 ! I still had a great time. I will go again. I just hope that the cover charge is not so much this time .PS The strippers split just minuets before the check arrived.

  • Pros: Worlds best freek show
  • Cons: very expensive

Not a place for the timid!

by lola12345

By far one of the coolest places in the city. Once you get inside, the place is straight out of a movie. The staff is extremely nice and hospitable(they even pass out popcorn!). The crowd is a nice mix of different types of people of all ages. The show was a crazy. I have never seen such a show before and never will again. This place rocks with originality. Love it.

  • Pros: hot venue
  • Cons: nope

Astounding acts--and prices--at Simon Hammerstein's freak show of a dinner theater.

by Katie Heffernan

In Short
This intimate, intoxicating theater is a two-story collage of lush fabrics, fringes, chandeliers, feathers and curtains, and the colorful stage production recalls the Folies Bergere of 1920s Paris. Marveling the modern-day audiences are forgotten turn-of-the-century virtuoso acts--fire-eaters, knife-throwers, contortionists--accompanied, of course, by lovely little helpers in pasties. Those seated on the main floor become the playthings of performers and beloved drag queen host Raven O. Dinner is equally sensory--beets with goat cheese, veal cheeks and gorgonzola-stuffed pears.

Beautiful interiors and great shows.

by citylion

Good vibe...good service. Muy expensivo though. Enjoy the late night 3am show, if you can get in. The balcony can't be reached to view the show by the way unless you have a booth there.

  • Pros: The sights, the varied shows. The cute barhands and servers.
  • Cons: Quite whitewashed, for the most part, when you step back and look at the majority of the audience.

My new favorite place

by clarenceworley

This place is bananas! It really has everything you want- great sight lines, awesome sound, and brilliant design. Best addition to the hood in a while. The designer definitly "gets it". It harkens you back in history and yet still has modern ammenities. This will definitly be a regular visiting place for me.

  • Pros: Awesome design
  • Cons: Afraid it might get over-run by the masses
