I have to admit right now that I no nothing of Korean food. And when I admitted this to my waitress, she failed to seize her opportunity to help me out. Not that I was expecting a class or anything. I asked her what was the house specialty and she told me she didn't know. I asked her what I should try and she said "aynthing". I ordered the pork belly and was fine with that. I was able to presuade our waitress to give me some guidance about how to eat it (make a sandwich with cabbage and radish). My date's sliced beef was good. I love to try new foods, but I'm just not seeing the appeal of this cuisine. I don't know why the service was so rushed but I guess I would try this place again. At least it looked cool.
Pros: Good prices, nice decor, fun neighborhood
Cons: unhelpful service--but still professional

The food was great, the pricing was decent, the service was good, the atmosphere was fun, and then after dinner you can wander around a interesting neighborhood. What more can you ask for. I've only been here twice this year and each time I couldn't find any faults to it. Though I had ppl say the bathroom was weird - but thats their own style.
Pros: everything

I love Korean food so I can get pretty picky with Korean restaurants but this place was a great uunexpected find. It really has authentic Korean food that not only tastes great but at a very reasonable price. Try the kalbijim which is the beef rib stew, it is really good as an entree, one of the best beef dishes I've tried in any Korean restaurant including the ones in Korea!!! Also, the space was nice, a little on the open lofty style side but I liked the decorations and the overall vibe. Service was friendly but a little sloppy but the food was good enough and the place comfortable that I didn't really mind it. The bar gets hopping but there is a corridor separating the dining section so the noise doesn't intrude on your dinner. Overall, one of the better Korean restaurants in Manhattan and its great that it happens to be in the East Village.
Pros: Great food at reasonable price point.
Cons: Service friendly but a little sloppy.

I just went there yesterday, it was really good. As Korean, i'm telling you guys, this place is really nice. I haven't checked all foods but what I ate was really good. Foods are good, and the interior design is really nice, a service is good. And price also pretty reasonable(not inexpensive but). ah, and watermelon soju was really good. I and my friends loved that.
Pros: pretty much everything

Not good at all . As a lover of Korean food and asian person this is not my choice pick within the city. Stay away from this korean restaurant off the beaten path of Korean Town(Hearld Sqaure 34th Street) I order the Bimbibop and my girlfriend order the pan fried clear noodle with beef. It was ok, the decor is nice. If you want a simple Korean fix, its for you but if you want good Korean food stick with K-Town. If you head there i suggest Bon Chon Chicken
Pros: outdoor dinning
Cons: not good food.

My husband and I come here probably once every two weeks. We love this place. The staff is always very friendly and the service is good. At first we thought if was going to be one of those "trendy" places that does Korean with a spin or something....we were relieved that it was just good old fashioned Korean dishes cooked well...they even have metal chopsticks!
Pros: Great food, excellent service, don't have to go to K-Town
Cons: ?

My g/f loves to eat korean and to avoid going to K-town and looking for parking I decided to do my research and find a new korean restaurant. I found Gama and afterall the high reviews gave the place a shot. We went with 2 other friends and we all couldnt of been more pleased. The watermelon soju is refreshing but it wasnt quite what I was looking for. We had three appetizers, Kimchi scallion pancake, seafood scallion pancake and dok bugi (spicy rice cakes). My g/f said it was the best rice cakes she ever had. The pancakes were also just as good we only got 3 appetizers but they were huge conaidering we ordered te small versions. For entrees my g/f got a vegetarian dish she liked but couldnt finish cause it was so much. My friends got japchai (glass noodles) and the LA Kalbi (short ribs). I ended up with the Boolguki which was cooked well and had alot of meat. The Kalbi dish was a little short changed though only like 8 or 9 short ribs. Overall it was a big, filling dinner and well worth the price as it didnt bust our wallets. The service was very attentive and very pleasant. Ambience was nice too didnt feel crowded at all and hae alot of space to stretch out. The bathroom is something to visit I think it used to be a barber shop or something cause I felt like I was going into the batcave. But like I said its def a highly recommended place and my g/f and I def cant wait to go back to try other things on the menu.
Pros: Excellent food, superb seafood scallion pancake, ambiance
Cons: None that I can think of

All in all, this new addition to the St Marks area is a fun option to check out. Don't be intimidated by the idea of a korean restaurant/bar(bar in the front, restaurant in the back) in this area, its a place that people from all walks of life hang out...from the punk rocker to the wall st types. I'm not sure what that other person was talking about when they were saying that the bartenders were inattentive....cuz from my experiences from being there( I have been there about 5 or 6 times in the past month ), they have been nothing short of great and friendly....they always greet you with a smile, and something like that can be good especially after a long day of work. the drinks are good, decent beer selection and you got to try the WATERMELON SOJU...they have it made in a hollowed out watermelon!!! A MUST TRY!! it can get crowded on the weekends, but the more the merrier, no? overall, a fun and cool place to unwind and enjoy good drinks and eats. i have no idea what gama means, but id recommend this place!!
Pros: good service, nice scene, cheap drinks, watermelon soju!!
Cons: closes too early, i think they close at 2
