Bombed My House (O-Leo !)
by rubenmonkey
I got some food delivered from here at the end of last week. My work mates and I all ordered different things and all got terribly ill. I got three medicore steak tacos, another got a disappointing chicken enchilada, watery and sad, and another ordered a totally hopeless steak burrito. Because of our illness, we've called the city. It was a total disaster, we were all very, very sick. Please, we don't want anybody to suffer as we did. Also the food really wasn't that good. We all really love mexican food, used to eat it all the time and we can't eat it for a while. Thanks, Bamboleo, you've ruined something I love.
- Pros: none, really
- Cons: ill-prepared food ruined my weekend
Lousy food. Lousy drinks. Lousier Service. Oh, and credit card fraud!
by Cucaracha
Warning to all: Do not eat here. Do not drink here. And by God, if you ignore the first two, heed this: PAY CASH ONLY. As another reviewer has written, the credit card machine mysteriously "breaks" when it's time to pay, and they request you sign a handwritten receipt. Naive fool I was, I thought nothing of it. Signed my name and was on my way.
...Only to later check my account and find they'd charged me twice! Excellent. And I have no receipt to return because I wasn't given one. Yes, I was a fool. But you don't have to be. I showed up a few times later, called a few times. When I showed up in person, I was always told I would need to speak with a manager, who wasn't there that night - convenient, right? On my phone calls, I was told "it'd be taken care of" and never was - of course.
So don't get scammed like I was. My review involves their little scam over me, and maybe I wouldn't feel so burned if the food had been special or the sangria hadn't been weak and foul. If you're in the neighborhood, you can't sneeze without hitting a restaurant - go somewhere else. Anywhere else. You'll be better off.
To the owner and staff at Bamboleo: Shame on you.
- Pros: neighborhood - plenty of other, better options
- Cons: that this place exists
Never Ever Go Here!
by SullivanStreetChick
I live across the street from this place and have actually given it a try three times. Each time worse then the one before. I wanted to love it; it's across the street, I love mexican food, but everything about this place is so bad that I just can't. I have never been there without waiting at least 5-10 minutes for the server to even come and greet you, then usually another 15-20 from the time you order till your food gets there. The food runner is often an Indian gentleman who puts his thumb into your meal while serving it to you. Nice right? He is also the rudest and least helpful person on the planet. The food is below mediocre. The enchiladas are swimming in a watered down sauce and tortillas taste hard and old. They charge you extra for sour cream, a lot extra. The beans are clearly from a can and the fillings inside the burritos/enchiladas/tacos are pitiful. The drinks are so gross. Margarita's at this place consist of tons of ice, margarita mix, and salt. There is no way there is tequila in them. And the sangria is just a sad death for fruit. The food is overpriced even if it was good, the fact that it's god awful only makes the prices even more ridiculous. The wait staff does not care about you at all. The don't make any attempt to try and get you your food quickly or be polite or generally work. Never Ever Go Here!
- Pros: Good for people watching
- Cons: Food! Service! Waitstaff! Drinks!
Avoid!

We had 2 servers come to our table who apperently never talked to each other. They each tried to take our drink order and food order. 10 min later we got 4 waters, our pitcher wouldn't arrive for 20min. After taking our drink orders they disappered. The people at the next table started to get frustrated with the poor service. We placed our order and they brought us chips & quac. When finished that waiting for our drinks. We asked for more quac, not a problem just few more dollars. We asked for Salsa, that cost extra too. We placed our food order (still no waters!). A side of sour cream, a few more dollars.
Finally we get water. Still haven't gotten our alcohol drinks. 10min later they come incorrectly. We ask them for the correct drinks they take the cups away. 10 more min our food comes in tiny portions. Still haven't gotten our correct drinks. Then at last our drinks are ready, with the correct pitcher. But I notice the cups still have the remenats of our last drinks in them. I hope none of my friends are sick because the waitress had no idea whose cups were whose.
The food is bland, with no spices or flavor. Another table leaves the place frustrated. We finish our meals, don't finish our pitcher of frozen drinks because there is no alcohol in them ($25 pitcher!). Ask for the check, give them 4 credit cards and ask them to split the bill. The lady leaves. 10min later we ask where our credit card and bills are.
The waitress comes back with 4 pieces of paper with our credit cards written on them by hand, with a line for tip and signature. After we let them were not signing a piece of paper and they owe us legally a receipt it turns into an argument with the "manager." We ask to see the owner. He's not around, we say fine were leaving. Suddenly the owner appears. More discussion, somehow the broken credit card machine is our fault. We finally escape after they run the cards old school. Horrible, rude, mean, 0 stars!
- Cons: Service, food, atmosphere, management
absolutely the worst dining experience I have ever had
by mm852
Do not go here. After pretty bad food, awful margaritas and the worst service I have ever encountered the restaurant then attempted what basically amounts to credit card fraud. When we contested the fake receipts they tried to get us to sign, they argued with us and the manager gave us unacceptable attitude.
There is not one good thing about this place. AVOID!
- Pros: Nothing
- Cons: Poor service, bad food/drinks, no ambience, no functioning credit card machine
delicious and inexpensive
by rachelr1313
Great mexican food and fun atmosphere - casual place for reliable inexpensive food and drinks. highly recommended.
so-so mexican food
by nyustudent11
The waitress was prompt and friendly and I liked the casual atmosphere, but the food was pretty mediocre (though thankfully not very expensive) and the music was rather random- they were playing a bizarre mix of alt. rock, oldies, and the occasional latin song. Though I don't totally regret going here, I will probably not go back a second time.
- Pros: reasonable prices, never crowded
- Cons: mediocre food
It's pretty hard to ruin Mexican food...
by laurini
But they manage to ruin it here! The food was decidedly sub-par very dry and tasteless. They make you pay for chips, which should never happen, and it takes too long. This place should go out of business pretty quickly. There are too many other quality restaurants in town.
- Pros: Location?
- Cons: Bad food, not authentique, chips cost money
Great food, drinks, and fun!
by sueo
Bamboleo is an awesome Mexican restaurant! I went there for Cinco De Mayo and had a blast!!! The food was wonderful and the drinks were amazing! Can't wait to go back again and again, not just on Cinco De Mayo :) I loved the outdoor seating and the inside is so cool! Gather your friends and go there :0)
Laid-back and fun
by bethny98
I really think this place has a lot of potential - it's in a great area and the food and drinks are good too. The decor is colorful and cheery - between that and the location, I think it will be a fun spot for Cinco de Mayo this year - can't wait!
