This place is cute, nicely decorated and good for a date or small group of friends. We were here for dinner and we all liked our food. It was a step up from your normal neighborhood Thai with some dishes you wont see everywhere. The sizable list of daily specials shows culinary effort as well. The down side was the server, who seemed a little over his head and careless at the same time: my friend ordered a shrimp salad and got a larger, more expensive shrimp stir-fry instead. The service was slow throughout our meal and while waiting for our check we realized our server was lounging at another table and chatting. Still, I will assume this is an exception and will come back another time.

Pros: food, homey yet not class-less atmosphere

Cons: monday night server

I threw my boyfriend a surprise party here with around 25 people. I made the reservation ahead of time for 20 but said there could be as many as 25. They said that would be fine; they could definitely fit 25 people. So all 25 people arrived and we were crammed into one large table. We didn't fit. Some people found seating at the bar and we tried to squeeze everybody else into the bench side of the table. It was uncomfortable, but it ended up working out, even though some of the party wasn't at the dinner table. My boyfriend loved his steak dish, but other people weren't quite as happy with their entrees. Our bill for 25 people came to 425 dollars. Amazing. BYOB was a plus and the waitstaff was charismatic.

I recently organized a group dinner at Sticky Rice. I had made reservations for 6 originally, but had to change to 7. The reservationist was very sweet about the change, even though we ended up having just 6 people at dinner. My friends had arrived early but were seated already in the back corner table, the best seat in the house, which is almost unheard of in NY. Since this was a BYOB, we had brought 5 bottles of wine, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that there was no corkage fee. The servers were very helpful with selecting dishes, patiently going over several dishes in detail until we made our choices. Every dish we orderd was delicious, and the servers were super nice. They never rushed us, and everyone at dinner had such a great time. And the best part of it was that the total bill (we had ordered several appetizers and desserts, in addition to our entrees) came out to less than $95 for all six of us!!! We gladly left a huge tip and a huge smile. Oh, and the lolipops with three different flavors at the bar was a great way to follow up the yummy dessert. Sicky Rice, I'm sold. I will definitely be back!

Well I should've just cancelled going there altogether after they called me within DAYS of my reservation-- to say that their receptionist screwed up and booked TWO 10ppl. appointments at 8:00 and asked if our party could be split up into two booths next to each other each seating 5ppl. Since I'd had the reservation for over a week I was really miffed but whatever-- we'd work it out, we'd made plans for places in the area, etc etc... Once we got there, though, at 8:05 it was complete MAYHEM. The place is really small and when my 9 girlfriends and I got in we had nowhere to stand, and had to convice the host to ask the other tables to close up their tabs and leave. I was instructed that we'd only have 2 hours at our table, and even though the two tables whose booths we were to inhabit had been there since 6:00 they were not given the same strict time guidelines, aparently- which left us uncomfortably waiting in the middle of the restaurant... and as time went on... 8:15, 8:20, 8:30... we FINALLY got our two booths next to each other... The food was good, though, and cheap-- and thank GOD we had lots of our own wine which was the only redeeming quality of the night. The servers/hosts were obviously over-run and although they were sweet, they weren't firm enough with the other guests to ensure we were taken care of... And (as you read below) my poor girlfriend didn't even eat because they served her food FAR too spicy. I enjoyed my meal and my duck rolls, but I would NOT recommend going here if you've got a big group or are hoping for real service. ALSO-- We were charged a 20% gratuity even though we had two tables of 5 people... I'm sorry- that's just RIDICULOUS!! Luckily it was cheap and small and cute, but I'd only go there again if it was me and one other person and we weren't that hungry when we arrived...

Pros: Cheap food. BYOB was the ONLY winner at this place

Cons: Terrible at book-keeping, Were seated 30 minutes after reservation, over-run staff, HORRIBLE for groups

They called days before our reservation to say the hostess had screwed up and we wouldn't all be able to sit together. We had reservations for a large party but had to wait nearly a half hour for our two booths. (They had to kick people out for sitting too long drinking their own bottles of wine.) They were nice enough, but not very good at enforcing their 2 hour sitting rule. I ordered the tofu steak but when it came it was REALLY spicy. The waiter told me panang sauce is a curry and he'd have them remake the steak without the spiciness. But when it came back out it looked and tasted EXACTLY the same. It also didn't match the menu description AT ALL (there were no mushrooms but lots of baby corn.) They took it off the bill and offered to make me something else, but by then everyone was done eating. Not a lot of organization at this place. Maybe better for parties of two, but even then you're relying on people who aren't expert English speakers and the miscommunication can lead to a reeeeally disappointing experience.

I went to Sticky Rice for the first time last night and was delighted! Everything on the menu looked delicious and the two meals my boyfriend and I ordered were nothing short of gratifying. The atmosphere is lovely and lively, yet cozy at the same time. The only con was the slow service. I will continue to return to Sticky Rice!

Pros: Food, Price, Decor, BYOB

Cons: slow service

My friends and i (10 ppl) came here for my Going Away party and everyone LOVED it! The food was delicious, the restaurant was beautiful (even the bathroom was!) and the servers were great. Best of all it's BYOB and close to other LES bars. We will definitely return!!

Pros: pad thai, inexpensive food, BYOB, good for large parties

Cons: slightly slow service, papaya salad

Good appetizers. Good entrees. Friendly but very busy staff. Super inexpensive and large portions. The BYOB aspect also makes it very fun.

Pros: BYOB, good food

Cons: it gets very packed and busy

Since I love both Thai and Spanish cuisine on their own, I figured this place would be a slam dunk. Turned out to be very average - menu is weighted toward the Thai dishes and there are only a handful of Spanish choices. Appetizers were nothing spectacular and the green papaya salad also failed to change my mind. One wonderful offering that I enjoyed (and haven't found anywhere else) is the ginger tea with condensed milk. Tea with a big kick at the end. Overall, a nice casual place to hang out for late night nosh (BYOB still in effect), but nothing too special to go out of your way for.

Staff here are exceptionally friendly. The food is delicious, different, and extremely affordable. BYOB tends to bring in a younger crowd (with oversized bottles of Yellow Tail in tow), but the atmosphere is lively without being obscene. If you don't mind a little wait and a little crowd, this place can't be beat for value. The staff and food alone would make me a regular. BYOB (while it lasts) is icing on the cake.

Pros: Wonderful staff, great food, lively atmosphere, BYOB

Cons: Bit crowded, bit young, only one bathroom.
