We have a relatively young and healthy Scottish Terrier, who began at this office when it was owned by the previous Doctor. When Dr Prattis took over, my husband, (himself a medical professional) was instantly impressed by the quality of the care our "furbaby" received. Now we no longer live downtown but travel from another borough, because we feel this office is so special. The few times our dog has been sick we have received the most thorough, but not excessive, tests and care, all at a reasonable and understandable rate.

Pros: A caring environment; helpful, patient staff; well-priced services

Cons: None at all

I was a patient at VIP for years. The previous owner was WONDERFUL. I just had to take my 2 dogs in for checkups, and met the new doctor. Although she seemed nice, she told me both dogs needed to go under anesthesia to have their teeth cleaned. The estimate was over one thousand dollars. I did not feel comfortable. I took my dogs to a different practice in the neighborhood, and the other vet showed me that my dogs had very mild tartar- and that vet said that I should not put my dogs under the risk of anesthesia for such a minor amount of dental tartar. I think this doctor is just trying to generate income. I would never go back.

Pros: right around the corner

Cons: no privacy in exam room (windows exposed to street! ! ! ) and bad dr

I have to say- I am suprised by two of the reviews. I have found the vet and her staff to be extremely professional, friendly and attentive. The doctor spends as much time as needed with me every time I visit- she is completely present- and is wonderful with my testy and oftentimes unpredictable cats. Yes, the old vet was terrific, but Dr. Pratis is talented in her own way. The office is completely revamped yet has still remained part of the neighborhood. Obviously, a vet experience is very subjective. But I have had success with Dr. Pratis and would recommend her and her staff to anyone looking for care.

Pros: Clean, friendly and attentive/ Saturday hours

Cons: Hours are not always the same

I have met the new doctor and her staff - and I do like the people that are working there now. They have taken good care of my baby (Belle, my 12 year old kitty) when she had a problem with her stomach and bowels, and for a dental cleaning. She got better quickly the first time, and her teeth sparkled (and no more bad breath !) after the dental work. And, everyone was friendly to me and attentive to Belle, and professional, every time I have gone in or called. I have sent friends to the practice with their pets too, and they tell me the same thing.

We have three yellow labs who get excellent care at VIP Vets on Christopher. To be honest, we were a little worried when the practice changed over to Dr. Prattis, a new doctor whom we didn't know. Our girls are 12 years, 10 years, and 5 months, so we've been in to see Dr. Prattis many times since she has taken over. She is an excellent doctor who is extremely caring and gentle with our girls. We feel very comfortable and confident with Dr. Prattis and her staff, and believe me - we are very particular when it comes to our dogs. The staff there is so good with the girls, too - to the point that our puppy literally drags us to the vets office because she wants to get some lovin', and treats, of course. The thing that I love about Dr. Prattis is that, as with all of our dogs, she has a very common sense approach with the girls. She doesn't rush to the "lets do surgery" point. She doesn't prescribe anything unless really necessary. And when we come in for our appointment, she treats our girls like they are her own dogs. We are extremely happy with our new vet and her staff, and would - and have - recommended them to our friends and neighbors.

Pros: Excellent Straight-forward Care.

Cons: New Office Startup things - wait a little bit long for check out. No big deal.
