I can not ask for more - That ‘all I wanted it –

We moved to Chicago from New York City. I called around trying to find the cheapest & Reliable Moving Company in NYC, already after my husband had done some calling himself and he had decided to use U-haul because it was just cheaper than the rest. He was going to be riding the bus back to NYC to help us move since he was already in Chicago working and probably wouldn't be getting much sleep to drive the Uhaul after the long bus ride (14hrs).

I ended up finding This New York Movers Company by word of mouth from my mom saying that a friend of hers used New York City Movers. I decided to do a search on the internet and found all those positive reviews about this company. I called them to find out more about the pricing. I later called back with more questions regarding other things that I've read in your reviews (Thank you!). New York City Movers was by far the cheapest & Reliable compared to Uhaul including the gas, insurance, etc... And the rest of the companies that I had contacted, Penske, Budget and so forth.

When I called them, here are some questions that I asked and wanted included in or on my truck:

1. Will my truck be cleaned out, no pallets etc on?

**His answer** (Mike}: They almost always clean it out. There might be some dust or a little dirt.

(I had planned on sweeping the inside out and then putting down a tarp on the floor of the truck to protect my furniture or anything else that wasn't packed in a box.)

2. I want a truck that has latches or hooks of some sort to tie off my stuff.

**His answer**: All the new trucks have tie off latches and all of the old trailers have the boards that you can just nail into and tie off, off of that.

(I told him that I would like a newer truck then so I wouldn't have a hassle. He said that would be fine)

3. What kind of gate is the 'bulkhead wall' and is it secure enough to hold not be pushed? Also, Do I need to make sure that I have the lower and upper bulkhead locks?

**His answer: It's a plywood board that is extended from both sides of the truck and load bars kind of like a jack. He said you don't need the bulkhead lock upper and lower anymore. These are newer and easier to use.

(I accepted that. In fact, they are easy to use and work just great. At the end after having the truck loaded, there were some cleaning supplies from cleaning our apartment that I wanted to stick inside the truck. We ended up tying a rope and putting the cleaning supplies inside a kitchen garbage can and attaching the rope to both sides of the garbage can and slowly slid it down on the other side of the bulkhead wall.)

4. How do I lock the bulkhead wall or will I have problems doing it?

**His answer: He said there are very basic directions on the wall itself and if I wanted I could have the driver show us how. **

(I found it very easy to follow and it was not a problem. The driver even checks it when they pick it up to make everything is stable.)

Their prices are fair, and unlike many movers

I've used Mike and his Crew twice and a coworker used them upon my recommendation. Why?

Their prices are fair, and unlike many movers, there are no last-minute fees. Mike is not the cheapest, but considering the reasons below, they're a bargain.

2) The guys are polite, friendly, professional and go the extra mile. In the two moves I've used them for, I've met two different crews and they were both fantastic. (As a single twentysomething woman, I could have felt a little odd having a bunch of guys come in and basically take over my old AND new apartments. However, with Popeye's I was completely comfortable!)

3) They're fast and ON TIME. I've used cheap (read: crappy) movers in the past and one company was six hours late. Mike is always right on time.

4) They're careful yet really efficient. I've had nothing broken, and everything was handled carefully. Again, they really do go the extra mile.

5) They take credit. (The majority of movers don't.)

6) They also do simple unloads in addition to moves. Example - my first time using them my moving truck had been packed in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Once in Orlando Florida, they unpacked the truck and carried stuff in. The second time they moved me within NYC and again, I was really pleased.

So, bottom line - I wouldn't use anyone else! Go the dirt-cheap route and beware!

I wanted to let your company know how impressed my husband and I were with the service we received on June 23, 2009. We had three gentlemen helping us that day-Don, Mike and Ron. All of them were polite, professional, and had a very nice attitude throughout the whole process even though the work was hard and the weather, HOT. I would recommend your moving company to anyone moving in New York City. Our move went smoothly and in the time we expected. We greatly appreciate the quality service!

SAVED MY DAY

I have no words to thank Mike for the quick response to my phone call on last thursday ( May 21st 2009 ).

We were stranded with the last minute note from our landlord to move before the weekend and we called around town to over 12 other movers.

Some with short temper and others were book and impolite.

We got to book mike and the crew were in front of my Condo befor 8:00 am.

The entire process was quick and affordable.

I was worried about my move because it was slightly more complicated

I was worried about my move because it was slightly more complicated - I was swapping apartments with someone in my building so neither apartment was ever empty, and I have picky super and strict building rules about Moving. New York Movers - Moving Companycame in and did a wonderful job - they were so friendly, professional, and extremely fast! Every other moving company (I called about 5 others) told me I needed 4 guys and estimated 4+ hours, and New York Movers - Moving Company did it with 3 guys in **1.5 hours**. I ended up just paying the minimum and there were no hidden charges (they brought blankets and tape and didn't charge for any of it). I ended up paying less than half of what other companies were trying to charge as a fix rate. Even my doormen and super commented on how professional and how good these guys were, and my super asked for their card because now he wants anybody moving into my building to use them! They were so friendly and nice, and Erika from their office arranged everything perfectly (sent email confirmations, called to confirm, etc.). I was so pleasantly surprised to see how friendly the movers were and they made the move completely stress-free! These were the best movers I've used in NY and I'd recommend them to anybody.

But I felt this company deserved the praise

Got quotes from other "top" moving companies and their rates were double. New York Movers - Moving Companyis professional, reliable and great to work with. This is the first time I got movers and I was annoyed at how expensive some of the other quotes were. Thankfully I relied on the reviews posted here and called up for a quote. It was affordable and stress-free. They were flexible with the amount of boxes I expected to have and they were polite at all times. The movers arrived on time, did their job and left without incident. They worked hard and never came across as threatening or sketchy. I never write reviews but I felt this company deserved the praise. I highly recommend New York Movers - Moving Company.
