Great for Kids
by JuliaWill at Citysearch
My 9 yr old daughter begged me for a month to let her join after her friend kept telling her about the summer day camp. I signed her up last month and am quite amazed. Not only is she getting all of her energy out, but is learning discipline, respect and gaining confidence. On the way home from the school all I ever hear about is what "Sensei", her instructor, taught her that day.
Thank you Sensei and to the Matsumoto Dojo!
One of the best decisions i have ever made!

The decision to join this karate school has helped me in so many aspects of my life. I am in the best shape i have ever been and feel super healthy. I feel that i can go in to class stressed out from the day and leave very relaxed.

somewhere else. Ugh... Try Tiger Schulman's, they will teach you karate, jazz23.
My child just finished his summer day camp program at Oyama Karate, and he had learned so much more than just Karate. I totally agree with the other reviews; what makes this place superb is the great persona of the staff and instructor. Each kids at the camp were different skill level, age, gender and nationalities, yet they all built very strong bonding each other for very short amount of time.
I was recommended Kyokushin Karate New York by someone, and found World Oyama Karate while doing the web research. I don't know exactly why I chose Oyama Karate over Kyokushin, but I think I sense some frontier spirits in Soshu's background, and dojo's family-like atomosphere in all the pictures on their official website.
I'm not a big fan of writing reviews, but I just wanted to post something positive so people won't be mislead by one recent unhappy review. I don't know much about the adult class in this dojo, but I recomend trying out at least. Maybe, I will try out free lesson one day!
Osu!!
- Pros: staff, instructor, value, location, flexibility
- Cons: Not as commercially organized or promoted as it should be
It's not the words that drew me back, it's the deeds and the quality of the people.

Every word of the advertisement is true, it's probably the reason I came back to study. Surely, there is nothing easy about studying karate - especially one rooted from the Kyokushin system. But what makes it better is the teaching staff at this dojo. Anyone can teach you how to do push-ups a hundred different ways - but if I am studing the martial arts, I want to learn martial arts. This school is so happening!
- Pros: Very flexible, outstanding personnel - great value in a class that goes on for 1:15. daily
- Cons: If you don't make an effort, nothing will happen
Great instructors.

Great classes

The "free" class was what got me started, but it's the great instruction and wonderfully friendly staff and class members that keeps me motivated to come back again and again. it's been a good way to jump start my "summer body" and the facility is spotless. I would recommend to anyone.
- Pros: $1 laundry service for uniform, congenial staff and classmates, warm atmosphere
