This was the first time I have ever followed a stylist and I am so glad I did. Scott is the best! He has an artist’s eye when it comes to color and a sculptor’s touch when it comes to cuts. Overall everyone at the salon is helpful and friendly. You never feel rushed nor will you be kept waiting. I consider Scott and the entire DEX experience a truly great "find" and you will be so happy you found it too.

Pros: great service and results; easy to get to location

Cons: cancellation policy ( which may be for 1st time customers only, I 'mnot sure) is steep

Scott is amazing! This is my first time posting a review but, I had to spread the word about Scott. I have long hair and had no idea that someone could cut my hair to look long,bouncy, and flowing, as if I stepped out of a magazine. Scott makes you feel like you just stepped out of the cover of a magazine. After Scott cut my hair, I received so many compliments. I was out of town and went somewhere else for a trim and it did not look nearly as good as when Scott worked his magic. My Sisters even commented on how my hair did not look nearly as good as when Scott cut it. I searched for him and found him at DEX. I will never let anyone else cut my hair. The atmosphere at DEX is fun and light. I highly recommend Scott and DEX.

I started going to Scott after a series of bad haircuts. I was very close to shaving my head, when my sister suggested trying her guy - Scott. He was able to correct everything that was wrong. The haircut was so good that I never went back to my old stylist of 6 years, and I've been going to Scott eversince. I travel in from Brooklyn to go to Scott and I have followed him from his last two spots to now at DEX. DEX is a great spot with friendly staff.

Pros: on-time appointments/friendly staff

I've been working down the block from Dex NY for over a year but never went in...I wanted something different, something stylish and I thought of Dex..from the second I walked in the door and met Scott, he was a sweetheart. Professional, friendly and makes you feel beautiful. He knew exactly what I wanted, took his time and it came out better than I thought it would. I love my hair and would recommend anybody to Scott and Dex NY. I'll be seeing him again soon.

I've gotten my hair colored and cut at DEX-NY on many occasions, and every single time, I have been more than happy with the end-results. I have had my hair blonde, medium brown, and even gone to the darkest shade of Brown ( I like to change my haircolor alot....), and when I needed them to lighten my hair from almost black, to a medium brown with highlights, the colorists were so experienced and so attentive to my specified desire for the outcome i wanted to acheive. They used such a gentle lightening process that there was no damage to the integrity of my own hair, even though i wanted such a drastic change ( from almost black, to medium brown with highlights. I always walk out of their salon looking just like i wanted to look....they let you express to them, just what your vision for yourself is.and after careful consultation with you they deliver that look! The staff at DEX Salon treated me with so much kindness and friendliness; they offered me coffee, tea,.....and their waiting area is very relaxing and comfortable. I would definitely recommend that anyone looking for qualified stylists/colorists/make-up artists, head on over to this salon...........you will be more than satisfied with your very first trip.........HAVE FUN!!!!!

Pros: Conveniently located, very comfortable and friendly atmosphere - down to earth staff

I found my soul mate (or hair mate - lol) in Scott Wasserman! He is AMAZING and I will never go to anyone else!!!!!! He paid such attention to detail and was so meticulous, awesome, and highly knowledgeable about all of the products that he uses. Salon Dex is awesome as well! The staff was so nice and they make you feel like a million bucks. I highly recommend Salon Dex and Scott for an experiency you'll never forget!!!

I went to Dex a few months ago when I was feeling extra ready for a big change. I've never really deviated much from my standard hairstyle, other than varying the length a little. This time, I don't know what it was, but I knew I was going for all out change. And I have to say that it was totally worth the risk with this place! Everything everyone's said about the great customer service and extra attention is 100% correct. The people were fabulous and the place is really cool, given that its also a modelling studio. But the best part was definitely Naomi. He listened to every question or idea I had, was so excited when I said to him I wanted big change, and really knew what he was doing. He gave me a look I would've never imagined for myself, despite being the one to suggest the sweeping bangs and highlights. It's completely chic, I'm still consistently getting compliments on my new hair and its been 2 months now! I love it. I'm SO going back. I've finally ended the never ending, elusive search for "my hair guy." Naomi is TOTALLY my hair guy. DEFINITELY try this place out!

Pros: Naomi. Got a great deal with a promotion. I LOVE my hair.

Cons: none really.. took a long time, but that was because he took the time to ensure perfection with his work and address any of my concerns

I have been a devoted follower of Amy Gerber, Hair-Styling Guru, for the past ten years, and I have been to several salons during the interim of this following, but I will undoubtedly say that nothing has compared to the experience I had when going to DEX. From the moment I walked in, I felt as though I were walking into a friend's house. I was warmly greeted and offered a seat and a beverage while I waited. Amy has been cutting my hair for the past ten years because I refuse to trust anyone else with the task. She is always ready to offer suggestions about what looks best on each client and refuses to let anyone leave without looking her most fabulous. She is an amazing stylist as well as an amazing colorist, and she has more than earned the loyalty of this devoted follower.

Scott!!!!! I've been to many, many hair stylists in my lifetime, usually when I've botched an at-home hair makeover! Botch no more! I'm so over that "save a buck" approach when it comes to my hair! My teenage daughter and I share the BEST hair stylist in Manhattan! His name is SCOTT and you can find him at DEX! If you're smart and lucky enough to get this far then you must follow through and call today for an appointment. I promise you, sincerely...you will NOT be disappointed! Ever! I thought I'd had great haircuts and good colorists in the past but the real test is if you still feel like a Queen or Princess a day or two after you leave the salon?!! Do you think all hairstyles need two weeks to "look good?" Garbage! Do you think that color is by accident?!! He knows the proportions. He knows! We have and we continue to follow our best instincts and past experience. Really. I'm not just saying this 'cause we like Scott (although that helps! ;-D Tell Scott what you want or let him use his thoughtful and precise talent. Basically, I have only been living in the city for about a year and a half. I moved from the mid-west and was so used to just getting the same old cut, but when I moved out to NY I found that everyone is so Mod, Chic, and well, very Fashionable. So I started to try out different salons in the city and yes I achieved a look, but it wasn't my own New York look. I came across DEX actually on this site and decided to make an appointment for a haircut. I was a bit nervous at first since I had some "okay" experiences with other salons, that I honestly didn't expect much from DEX. Although, was I in for a surprise! As soon as I walked in I was greeted and escorted to a lounge area. At the same time, a tour of the space was given and what a space it was! I waited like 5 minutes then the customer service rep came down with the stylist and gave a proper introduction to us both and I followed him to the chair. We discussed what I wanted and what would work best and we finally came upon something that sounded perfect. I let Shawn, the stylist, do his work and what an artist is he! My hair came out impeccable. It was everything I had wanted with that extra New York look. I finally found the perfect salon and I have been coming here since that first cut. I highly recommend people who want complete makeovers and upkeep to stop by and take a look. This team is just Great! Thanks for the all the services! You guys are amazing!!
