Was invited here for a friends birthday party (so I'm not just coming off the street). Arrive at 5PM on a Thurs - downstairs is empty and the bouncer asks me to wait in line!!!! What a joke! Then when he finally comes up to the line of 3 people, he doesn't let me in because I have sandals on!!!! But of course every woman who has sandals on gets in. They tell me it's a liability thing. Yeah, ok. Anyway, I wouldn't waste my time here they all have attitudes.
Pros: none
Cons: big egos

On 7.26.08 3:00p.m, I attended a b-day party at Spotlight. A male, 185-190 lbs, 6 ft tall pushed me by my throat 5 ft back from where I was standing until I slipped in fell because he as drunk & I interrupted his lap dance. He then tried to strike me in my face. Only then a bouncer came to rescue me from the situation and pushed me against a column. A staff member made me walk across the floor barefoot because they did not want to look for my shoes or the guests I came with and over the glass. I had to walk across the entire event space and downstairs & outside barefoot to look for my friend who had my purse and a pair of my shoes. I am only 5’4”. A staff member of the club asked me to do I want to press charges and I told him yes. They told me that they had the man in custody; but the bouncers then told me that they let him go home. the staff then told me that in order for me to press charges I need to know how that man looked, but they refused to let me see and identify him before letting him go home. In addition, they let him enter the venue wearing a hat. In a dark space, no one is identifiable with a hat on. management didnt complete incident report or obtain the attackers name. No one called the police and theses. I was badly hurt, with a bruised lip, scratches, back pain from the fall in the club, neck pain, ankle pain, and pain in my wrist. Management didnt following a proper protocol for altercations and injury on the property. The staff at this venue did not respond quickly. The lapse of time between being able to leave the back stairwell the staff had me in, they gave 30 minutes for my attacker to leave and go home without obtaining even his name. In addition, without my purse, I had no phone to call the police and they did not provide me with a way to call the police even after I told them that I wanted to file a police report.
Pros: None
Cons: Everything...very unsafe

went just yesterday for one of the "2 for 1" happy hours.....the main floor was closed off for a private party so everybody else was forced to a top floor that had a single tiny bar open for all the 2 for 1 action....forget about getting ur 2 for 1's with the heavy flow of traffic a the bar....and with these prices....its a waste of time for well drinks.... why would anybody want to pay cover to enter a place at 5:30pm at nite? if ur not on one of those guestlists ud have to pay and they charge women too !! cover was probably only 5 or 10 dollars but this spot is just some times sq theme place that will likely be out of business in a handful of years.... smug faced bartenders...bad serivce...and any airconditioning?? if it wasnt for corporate parties that will pay anything, and tourists that didnt kno beteter.....i doubt this place would be making any business.....u'll pay thru the nose this is ny....u can find alot better places than this disaster....but i guess if u like high prices and smug attitudes.....enjoy urself
Pros: theres no pros....not at these prices
Cons: the whole scene.....

I went to Spotlight because I saw it on Citysearch and it looked like it would be a fun time. And it definitely was. My friends and I danced, and had great drinks, and a great time!.. Definitely going back and bringing more of my friends...and telling them all that Spotlight is the new HOT SPOT!

I went to Spotlight Live with a few friends after spotting it on Citysearch. What a fun time. We were a bit apprehensive at first about the karaoke but we ended up having a blast. The atmosphere was a lot more fun than any previous karaoke I've tried. Also, they serve really tasty food and good drinks. The midtown location made it very easy for my friends to meet. Highly Recommended!
Pros: karaoke, food, drinks

Stay the heck away from here!! After all the complaints and now some poor girl has been murdered here. Probably someone from the staff or the disgusting loser of a doorman. They should shut this place down immediately!! What a disgrace to New York City this place is.
Pros: Absolutely nothing good
Cons: Could lose your life because the staff is mean and the patrons are ghettoplus

It started in the club and continued on. After having been at Spotlight for 5 hours and spending a good deal of money we decided to head on home. We called for our limo to come pick us up and waited in front of the Sbarro Pizzeria next door to the club. Then trouble started. A security guard walked over to us and yelled at us " Okay ladies, if you're going in, go back in. If not you need to go stand on the corner!" We told him we were leaving and waiting for our limo which was seconds away and he told us he didn't care, we couldn't stand there and we needed to go wait on the corner. He then approached the bachelorette and asked her if she was the one getting married and she told him yes and that we had spent a good deal of money there and to treat us with a little respect. And he again did not seem to care. What was appalling to me was the fact that we were not in front of the club, we were not in anyone's way and we were not causing any problems and we were being told where to stand on a public street. When one of the girls pointed this fact out he told us that when he throws a party he owns the whole block! Our limo showed up, and he escorted us to the limo, for what reason I am still unsure! and then accused us of being drunk! For someone who thinks they run the club and are so intelligent and well bred he sure didn't realize that the only person drunk was, appropriately, the bachelorette! A night that should have been fun was almost ruined by a man who's ego is so inflated he doesn't realize that he's really not that important and neither is the club he works for! There was no reason for us to have been treated the way we were and I only hope that the owners of Spotlight realize what kind of rude, obnoxius and disrespectful security staff they have so that they don't loose more clientele. Some of the girls had considered going back and bringing more people and now that will never happen! Instead everyone we know will be told never to step foot in there ever.

I was so surprised to see a high rating from this place....then I looked and they are all really old reviews. I guess it used to be a good place to go, but I would not recommend it now to anyone. Calling it a Restaurant is a joke...try cold, horrible food. If you are going to hang out and spend all this money on the "food" which isn't cheap, and buy drinks at city prices...the least they can do is let you sing for free! The service is so slow and the managers are rude. Be smart and stay away from this place until the management can figure a way to pull itself out of the gutter!

aside from our 9 yr old daughter and her friends having a good time, we (the parents) were very disappointed with the lack of detailed information and forget about getting in touch with anyone there...we always had to leave a message..don't call on weekends.. no one is there to take your call. we were never told (in a timely manner) that if we would like to order a birthday cake we would have to give 2-3 days notice...meanwhile i specifically said i was looking for a place for a birthday party...hint! Then, the very nice waitress informed us that there would be a $5 fee per person for singing! We wanted the manager, he didn't talk to us but instead let the waitress do all the talking for him.. We did not pay for that.. the food was already expensive. the waitress and the Emcee were the only nice ones there...and when you are on stage, the background singers drown you out anyway...

I arranged for a group of us to go this past weekend to celebrate a 40th bday. I had made reservations for our group weeks in advance, but yet we still were not all seated together. When I inquired on why, the extremely rude manager told me that that is the way it is with a large group. Which was not the case, since once the table next to us opened up, we were able to use it and now all sit together. The menu is bad and the food is worse. Be happy if it arrives luke warm. Charging $10 a person to get on stage is absolutely ridicules and apparently selective - so beware tourist - you will be screwed. Our bill was over $850 - you would expect to be able to sing for free. I did approach the manager about this and was spoken to horribly. If we weren't such a large party, we would have left. I know I wanted to but didn't want to upset the bday girl. A second manager did send over a round of shots, to appease us because our screen to select music or contact other tables also did not work. They're are plenty of other fun places to go in the city that are worth the money and where you will be treated better. The staff at Spotlight made it clear that they did not care about our business!
Pros: Trendy
Cons: Staff, food, price
