Loved it!!!
by Adyy88
I went for the first time today to get a Brazilian... I was so scared but Gussy took very good care of me and made me feel very comfortable! She was talkative so it took my mind out of the pain... I was very relaxed and the result of my Brazilian is excellent!!! Havent tried eyebrows yet but I am definitely going back for my next brazilian waxing! Oh by the way i recommend the sugarin waxing its way less painful than regular waxing :-)
Butchered Eyebrows
by Vanessa01
I tired this place because it was cheap.... it was a very big mistake.
Eyebrows are extremely important, the woman ruined my eyebrows. And when I was not happy she just keep making them thinner.
She was not listening when I asked her to keep them full. They are like a factory in that place turning over customers very quickly. She could of cared less how I wanted my eyebrows done.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR EYEBROWS ...
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: horrible staff, untrained

love this place
by wanderlust7
This place is great! I came here with a friend to get my first ever brazillian wax done and initially I was terrified. The girl who did it was so sweet and friendly and really put me at ease. I walked out looking great, feeling great, and only experienced a little bit of pain. My friend was happy with hers and had a really good experience as well. I got the sugaring (which is supposed to be less painful) instead of the waxing so I maybe that was it. Some of the other reviews have mentioned language barriers, which I haven't found at all in my experience (unless you consider a language barrier to mean speaking english with an accent....). Anyway, since then, I've been back at least half a dozen times, and have been happy each time. I've also recommended this place to a few other people, who always return satisifed. Try the eyebrow threading too...its only $6 and your eyebrows look beautiful!
DONT GO HERE!
by Jenni387
I went seeing the reviews for this place was mostly good and I went to the one in Chelsea on 23rd street today and got the worst eyebrow job ever! I ask the lady to make them even and my eyebrows don't look even at all! I don't even know how to fix it since she did such a terrible job now my eyebrows look mess up and there are some hair sticking out that the woman I had didn't pull! Trust me when i say DONT GO HERE!!
- Pros: the place is empty so it was quick
- Cons: horrible eyebrows!
Mixed Experience
by aurilia21
I visited Unique for a brazilian bikini wax because of the price--$35 for a sugar wax. However I'm still debating whether it was worth it. When I arrived for the wax (I had called ahead and made an appointment) the woman at the desk did not seem to understand what I was saying. Another woman came over, the two proceeded to talk in another language, and then led me back to a tiny room and left me there. When she re-entered she motioned for me to get undressed. She asked me if I wanted it all off and I said "No, could you leave a small strip?" She did not understand and wrinkled her nose. "What you want that for?" She responded, and then proceeded to say, "No, no, we take it all off, much better to be clean." As she waxed I noticed that was using the wooden stick two or three time (re-dipping it) before throwing it away. It was painful, like all Brazilian waxes, but she kept going over the same areas again and again. The next day I noticed several small rough patches where she had not ripped the hair out, but merely broken it off at the surface. I don't think I will go here again unless I'm absolutely desperate for money; I'd much rather pay $60 for a quality job.
Painful and dissapointing
by sweetmouse11
I had my first Brazilian bikini wax at Unique yesterday at the 7th ave location. When I arrived, I was rushed into a room and left with no instruction as to undress, lie down, etc. Being new to the whole process I would have appreciated a bit of a description as to what was about to happen and perhaps a modesty towel or drape... I tried to voice my concerns to the waxer, but there was definitely a language barrier. She used the chocolate wax and was very abrupt and gave me no warning as to what she was doing. It was extremely painful and she went over the same areas many times, and I still had and uneven strip and a few patches of hair remaining in the end. I tried to explain this, and to ask about ingrown sand aftercare, but my waxer could not understand what I was asking. In the end I was left waddling out of the salon in quite a bit of pain. The area remained red, swollen, and very painful for the rest of the night. Advil and other pain meds provided minimal relief, and I resorted to going to bed with an icepack on the area. A day later I am still swollen and some bruising is starting to develop. I had to clean up the stray hairs myself and while I am pleased with the new look, I will not be returning to this salon. I hope that tomorrow the swelling and pain will subside.
- Pros: inexpensive
- Cons: everything else
Best waxing!!!
by sdee86
I went and got a bikini wax done and Nareen recommended the sugar waxing which made all the difference.
She was very charming and conversational, and was efficient so the pain was minimal - but the result was fantastic.
I also had my eyebrows threaded, and she kept the shape and didn't take too much off which is exactly what I wanted.
I'll definitely be going back again!!!!
Great find!

I just got back from my first trip to Unique Threading and it won't be my last! I got a full leg and Brazilian bikini wax and had lip and eyebrow threading. Navina was fantastic, a total perfectionist and really sweet. And of course, the prices can't be beat!
- Pros: Prices and pain-free!
- Cons: None
Great place for waxing!!!
by makeupartist
I was looking for a clean, affordable, welcoming place and I found it here. I had a very pleasant experience.
Priya along with the rest of the staff made me feel very welcomed. She is very precise and friendly, overall an excellent waxer. Excellent hygiene not to mention. Although it's location is very high in traffic being on the 3rd floor gives you a feeling of exclusivity and privacy. I would go back and recommend it as well.
- Pros: Clean, affordable and friendly
- Cons: High traffic location.
