It'd been a while since we had a near-euphoric dining experience, so Boyfriend and I decided to try the prix fixe. We read about the tight seating and decided on an early dinner on a lazy Sunday afternoon. At 5pm, it was empty, and Chef Didier (yep, we met da man) suggested a table by the breezy open door. Our starters of calamari and beet salad were simple and light, and the mussels, particularly the curry one, came in the most delicious cream-based sauces. We also tried the Dijon flavor, and we ended up eating two loaves of crusty, flaky bread to soak it all up. Then we went on to drink the sauce with a spoon. After that, out came the profiteroles, which we requested in place of the chocolate mousse. Three large mounds of goodness (or "shoes" as Dider called them; they do look like baby shoes), and the chocolate sauce, slightly bitter in the way excellent, quality chocolate should be, caused us to drink the sauce directly from the spoon again. Service was excellent, and, around 6pm, a nice buzz developed as the place filled. Extra points for the adorable, elderly Chinese men seated near us who also had a rockin' time. We'll be back with more friends and more wine.
Pros: Food, service, BYO
Cons: Probably not as relaxed on a Friday or Saturday night
