Best Value Massage
by CSMobileUser at Citysearch
Lia's masseuses consistently provide excellent massages at very, very reasonable cost. I buy books of 10 or 20 at a time, and they are great. Very upscale spa, lots of other facilities and offerings.
Fantastic Facials at Lia Schorr
by babolesser at Citysearch
I have been coming to Lia Schorr for the past 12 years. It's lovely inside-quite and clean. Lia has always made me feel welcomed. Even when I call at the last minute for a facial, and I often do, she always finds time for me and I don't mind waiting 10-15 minutes because I know it's worth it.
I only see Eugenia and she is the best. She knows my skin, knows what to do with it and makes sure my sensitive skin is well taken care of. She also has been taking care of my older daughter's skin with great results.
I highly recommend going to Lia Schorr-you won't be sorry.

Tired of problem skin??
by JennCal at Citysearch
When it comes to handling acneic skin Lia schorr has the best facialist in Manhattan. A year ago I started getting acne, at 34 years old I was mortified. I had gone to at least 5 different facialists on Long Island before someone mentioned Lia Schorr Day spa and recommended Ala. So of course i was willing to try anything to get rid of this problem and for the past 6 months Ala has been working with me on a monthly basis. Between the facials with extractions (which is key), along with the different treatments she uses on my face, like masks, spot treatments and different electrical machines my face has been spot free for the last 2 months. ala really is an amazing facialist and I am extremely satisfied with my results!!!!!!
The ambiance of the spa has a very European feel to it which is great especially in a city where most spas appear so luxurious but can't even get the job done!!!
- Pros: Best facials in the city
The Best Institute in New York City
by mollymay06 at Citysearch
I have recently graduated from the Lia Schoor Institute and wanted to express how my experience has impacted me. On my search for an esthetics school I landed upon this one and, after speaking to Lia, I knew right away that this was the best choice hands down. I moved from Ohio to New Jersey in December specifically to come to this school. Not only did I really get a great first impression of Lia, all the instructors, and staff but this institute most definitely has the best qualities. By qualities I mean the avaliability of flexible hours and financial aid which was very important to me. Also I'm pretty sure the Lia Schorr institute is the only school that offers financial aid in the city. The whole staff really cares about your situations are willing to work with you on any problem. I feel like my classmates are like family and never expected to make such close friendships. This school is one of a kind I will never forget my experience for as long as I live. I would suggest this school to anyone and everyone. I am very confident to go out into the working field because I have learned so much. More than I had ever expect to learn. Thanks Lia Schorr Institute for such a wonderful experience!
- Pros: Great teachers, great owner, great atmosphere
- Cons: The fact that I had to leave
Beauty at its best!

I am currently a student at Lia Schorr beauty Institute and I wanted to share my experience with anyone looking to become an esthetician.
I am a mother of 2 small children. They are now in school full-time and I am able to pursue a career once again. I have always loved beauty and skin and thought this would be a great field for me to go into. My only stumbling block was how could I juggle school and still be home for my children as they needed me. Well, after much research for a school that would fit my needs I found Lia Schorr. I met with Lia herself when I came to see the school and I was immediately impressed. What a strong accomplished woman! She quickly related to my situation, being a single mom and also needing to find a career. She was a wealth of comfort, knowledge and support. While Lia’s school may not be as new or fancy as some of the other schools I visited, her school had a sense of warmth and family that none of the others seemed to offer. This is just what I needed. I met with a couple of the teachers who only cemented the warmth and sense of family I felt upon meeting Lia.
You can’t help but be impressed with the wide range of knowledge that the teachers possess and the caring patient way in which they present it to the students. Yes this was the school for me. Not only did I already like the staff and instructors but they offered me something that none of the other schools could…flexible scheduling. Now I could pursue my career path and still be the mother that I want to be for my children. I am able to attend part-time days so I can be with my kids after school. That is amazing! Just a foot note, Lia Schorr was also the only school that offers Financial Aid and government loans which really are a help in these tough economic times. . Need I say more?
I would highly recommend this school for anyone who wants to be an esthetician. What a great experience! Thank you Lia.
- Pros: Flexible Scheduling and Financial Assistance.
- Cons: None that I can see.
nothing but good things to say!!!

I have been a student at the Lia Schorr Institute for the past year as a Make-up student. Through the year I received certifications in:
Basic Make-up
Bridal Make-up
Air Brush
Paramedical
Fashion Editorial Make-up
Advanced Make-up
The majority of my classes were instructed by Heidi Reid and I also had JSterling as an instructor for a few of the classes.
I have nothing but great things to say about the school, the teachers, the classes, and Lia Schorr herself..who actually comes into the classes to meet and thank her students!!
Also, as a side note, the Lia Schorr spa also gives the best facials!
When I decided to go to school for Make-up I researched 6 different schools in both New York and New Jersey, and Lia Schorr was by far the best choice for me. The school is affordable, the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly during the tour of the school, and the variety of classes was by far the most expansive and interesting. I was also impressed by their flexible class schedule. By the end of the first day of my first class (with Heidi Reid) it was obvious the talent and knowledge of the teachers and staff would greatly benefit me. Their passion for the industry and their students’ success was like nothing I had ever seen, and it was such a refreshing and exciting experience. The class set up, structure, and curriculum helped me to build confidence and prepare me for a job as a make-up artist. I highly recommend Lia Schorr Institute.

It changed my life
by tiffanyrae at Citysearch
All I can say is, ?It changed my life? And from what I could see, many other peoples? lives as well.? Lia Schorr is more than just a school- it is a journey where you learn so much about yourself while learning how to help others as well. And you can take what you learn there into so many different directions. And even if you NEVER use your license you have just learned how to take care of YOUR OWN SELF for the rest of your life.
Lia?s school inspired me in so many ways and it helped me figure out some of my own health and skin concerns. It has made me better my life? Lia has created a school that can be molded into anyone?s schedule and she as well as her committed staff is always there helping you, supporting you, and inspiring you to be better than you were when you first walked thru her door.
- Pros: Flexibility, caring
Best education in skin care training

I was a student at the Lia Schorr Institute located in midtown new york. My background was in the medical field as a nurse, but I wanted to pursue my passion for skin by becoming an esthetician.
I visited other schools , but I chose the Lia Schorr Institute. I was impressed that the owner was so involved on a daily basis with the students and the Institute. It was a great environment, the teachers were very professional and it had a high standard of education. I learned a lot and I met great people while studying there.
Lia Schorr was compassionate, understanding and very professional. She is like a walking encyclopedia with amazing knowledge of skin. She treated her students as if they were part of her family.
Upon graduating I became an esthetician and now work with a dermatologist as a skin care specialist..
I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to make a change in their life.
Worst Esthetics/makeup School..beware
by SkinandMore at Citysearch
I was a victim i believe. I got sucked into the nice personality that people pretend to have here just to get your money. the owner Lia acts all nice saying she's your mentor and how grateful she is that you chose her school and overall she's a b****. excuse my bad language. I've been at the school for a 2 yrs bc i was doing alittle under 20hrs a week, but my experience at this school has not been pleasant. I feel like i have not learned anything that prepares me for state board. Every since i've been at this school she has nothing but harrassed me for money which was being funded by the state which completely out of your hands especially when its something like that you just have to wait. but she just threatens to kick you out or charge you more money just because she can. She disrespects people including the teachers thats why we always have problems keeping our teachers, literally. Its unbelievable how many new students she gets every month, she makes us lie to them and tell them all the good stuff which is nonsense she she can get her money and once they enroll they feel regret. Lia schorr also makes us lie when the board of education come to visit to see if she's running things well, she makes us say that she treats us good. and to top it off she makes the rooms we work in beautiful until they leave she even brings things up from her spa downstairs to make it seem like were in a spa setting.
Every student that attend this school uses their own products because her products are awful and are full of mineral oil that irritate your skin. and when people come to take a makeup course at her school she kicks us out of our on classrooms so they can have everything to themselves, its just a bunch of nonsense.
- Pros: flexibility
- Cons: not so good education
