The kugel that I had with my beef stew (of all things, just to try it) was so good that I almost begged for the recipe. Service was very good, personable, and whenasked for suggestions, they were gladly given. Reasonable prices (very) for Times Square. We would definitely go back. Good as a pre-show dinner, or after a Broadway matinee.

I had lunch at Brooklyn Diner a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I have not had mac and cheese that good and creamy anywhere. It was really, really good. My lunch partner ordered the 15-bite hot dog, which definitely lives up to its name, but it is surprisingly very good meat despite its size and thickness. I went in for lunch today and had the margherita pizza--not recommended. I'm a New Yorker so I like pizza with a thick crust. BD's pizza was made on a very thin crust, more like a tortilla and it did not have that fresh taste of tomatoes as is typical of a margherita pizza. It was more like a cheese "pizza" tortilla. Their signature strawberry shortcake cheesecake is to die for though. Very rich and creamy, the best I've ever had. The service is excellent. It does get crowded given the location but after 2:00 pm the crowd dies down (for lunch patrons). Overall I like the feel of the restaurant, the menu is varied and the food is good.

Pros: Good food, decent atmosphere, good service

Cons: Expensive, crowded at times

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon The Brooklyn Diner as we made our way to Times Square and decided to forego our usual choices, Red Lobster/Olive Garden. As soon as we went in we were pleasantly greeted and promptly seated by the friendly male host at the door. At first I wasn't sure there was anything I'd want to order but finally decided on the Chicken Kiev while my dining partner chose the Drunken Mahi Mahi. The wait was decent and when our food was served, it came directly from a member of the kitchen staff instead of from our waitress. Both of our meals were quite tasty and enjoyable and I'd recommend both dishes to anyone. For dessert (which is what it seems this restaurant is best known for), we had the famous cheesecake and chocolate coconut banana cream pie. Absolutely delicious. On another note, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean as well. On our way out, the host paused from his conversation with one of the waiters to thank us and wish us well. The service was impeccable, the setting was pleasant, the food was great and the prices were also quite decent. We had a most enjoyable dining experience at The Brooklyn Diner and would not only recommend it to others, but would also dine there again.

Pros: service, food, clean restrooms
